This World Wall Map is a wonderful idea for wall decor!

This might be the most helpful video I've watched on TH-cam. Do you think masking tape would be strong enough to hold the pieces up for a few months? At least the big ones, and use tiny pieces of double-sided tape for the small islands? I first heard about wooden maps today and was overcome with the need to put one up in my home office, but we plan on moving later this year, and I don't want to spend 3 hours taking it off a few months after spending hours putting it up, but I think cool decor like this would help sell the house as well as make it more enjoyable while we're here.

After owning for a year. I took this down and even with all the tops and hair dryer it. It took part of the wall off with the paint

Agreed. This product is garbage. Destroyed my entire wall regardless of the amount of blow drying I did. Customer support sucks.

What did you use to remove the adhesive off the wall? Using a $75 variable temp heat gun and a dozen wood shims strategically placed. 25 minutes to take down Africa. Finding the heat gun and shims save the wall… Still have a handful of spots to spackle and paint though. Just need to figure out how to get all the left behind adhesive off the wall. After three years of being up, it does not want to come down.

Same! Destroyed my wall! Customer service no help! Had to pay our landlord $$$ to redo the wall. This idea popped in my head today - removable wallpaper underneath! What do you think?

Hmmm... that could work as long as you're confident that the removable wallpaper will actually come off. Personally, I think mounting it onto a piece of plywood painted to match your wall color might be best. Then you just take it down when it's time to move (can you make any holes in the wall?). -Jane

I mounted the map on a large framed blank canvas (purchased at Michael’s) that I painted the colour of my wall so all blended in. It’s great and I can move or remove it just like any picture! I can’t figure out how to add a photo of the final product.

I was thinking of mounting the map onto a large (cut to size) plexiglass…..anyone have any experience with that?

That's a great idea. Another option would be a nice piece of plywood, painted to the same color as your wall. Then it would be easy to move if needed. -Jane

@@Sustainmycrafthabit that was my rationale for plexiglass as well!

Did you do it? We were gifted a map a few YEARS ago that we still haven't put up, because I don't want to stick it to the wall directly. Been trying to figure out how to mount it to something so I can move it easily. Was thinking canvas? Stretched canvas? Plywood? MDF? Plexiglass would look cool, though. Curious if you did it that way? Thanks!!
