    I've been maintaining my own bikes for >40 years but am having to learn so much to look after my Brompton! 🔧

    Thank you for these tips. Ive just realised that I needed to adjust derailleur a long time ago as it keeps rubbing against one of the chain tension wheels and both have marks of wear on them :S
    Would also appreciate if you guys at some point released video on how to deep clean your bike correctly.

    Hmm, it's rarely about tension, unless it is! Couldn't get it to drop down a gear, had to slacken off cable...

      you can always speak to our customer service team if you have any issues? Thanks

      @@bromptonbicycle just out of interest, you really have a team on hand to answer technical questions? I took it to a bike mechanic who stared at it like I did!

    It is so very hard to understand!!!

      Yes. I didn't find it easy to understand, either. And the images were not clear enough, either.

      A joke, actually. They should have started with a deep dive into the part that does the actual shifting, explaining what each screw did to affect travel (similar to a normal derailleur). Then show it on the bike and with proper angles and closeups to explain how to adjust upper and lower gears. And stop referring to ‘the wheel’ throughout. Which wheel!? Considering how much these bikes cost, it would be more respectful to customers if they came with clear instructional content.

    I tried with a 2.5 mm allen but it seems too big (0:40)

    I agree with the comments this not the easiest video to understand, BUT, you only need the one minute twenty one seconds of it to adjust the derailleur, it’s really quite simple. Also it a 2mm Alan key 2.5. Rest assured if I can successfully adjust the derailleur, anyone can.

    • @p9uma
      @p9uma ปีที่แล้ว

      that should read- the first one minute twenty one seconds.

      Typically poor explanation from Brompton. Why do we need a prolonged magnified close up of an allen key in the bolt while the narrator is explaining actuator position! Why not use the film to illustrate what you are describing? It's like the video and the text are produced entirely separately.

  • @gilesyone
    @gilesyone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You need a 2mm Allen key for the adjusting, not 2.5mm as said

      @@bromptonbicycle I think people find it hard to understand, judging by the comments.
      User-test it again on new Brompton owners, not fellow mechanics or staff?

    This video was not made to help Brompton owners. It was made to give the impression that it is helping Brompton owners. How do I know this? From the comments of other people here on this video, and from the video itself, which doesn’t help at all. A fake video. Where is the value of the Brompton? The bike costs 2700 euros and this is what we get in return?

  • @SteveGarner1964
    @SteveGarner1964 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nope, don’t understand the instructions at all. It’s just a video of someone turning an Allen key with ‘blah, blah, wheel, turn, clockwise blah blah’ voiced over it. Not at all helpful.
