Thank you for being real. It takes a special kind of person to take this kind of time out and go through extraordinary detail so we can make good decisions. Bravo. Ford should bein a class action over this poor engineering. Thanks again. Nicole
Both parts one and two are easily the finest, most completely documented and thorough step by step videos I have ever seen. This is certainly not a simplistic job but as mentioned...the directions take you on a trip with some kind of auto sherpa that expertly guides you up and down the mountain...alive. Obviously Mr. Robinson's auto is a gifted mechanic and I'm not sure it's something I'm willing to tackle but I do have a new respect for auto mechanics. Thank you for your time, effort and generosity.
That was an excellent job of diagnosing a problem and fixing it! I have the same issue with an 09 Flex with the same p0016 code and the Ford dealer said it needed new phasers at a cost of $1600. If I had let them do the job, it would still have the same problem and I would have wasted my money for nothing. Thank you for taking the time to document this repair, you no doubt have helped many people going forward. God bless you.

Thanks so much for the details required to carry out this repair. I always look forward to your videos. Take care.
Thank you man I appreciate it, worked out well I believe... just don't understand why they would do such a thing.... After watching the video myself I believe the engineers knew it could leak both ways oil or coolant.... Due to the double seal on the water pump in an attempt to keep the two from cross contamination. Would have been nice to have that info passed along, no lie I went to two dealer ships and got no where the owner did as well and was told the block was defective
Thanks for posting these videos.... I just finished replacing the water pump in my 2007 Ford Edge. I would say It took me about 30 hours to get it done as I ran into issues removing the harmonic balancer, trying to get the bolts out of the power steering pump, etc. -- but all in all not it was not too bad. It saved me alot of money, as the dealer here wanted to charge me $2000 ! Take care....
This video is made the way that ALL instructional videos should be made. It shows all of the necessary "whys" and "how-to's" without boring the viewer with the tedious steps that we all know how to do already (like loosening and removing bolts). This video not only explains how to perform the R & R, but also why the problem occured in the first place. An excellent video!
Thank you very much for these two videos!! The wife's 09 Flex threw 7 codes all related to crank/cam position. Now I have a really good idea what I'm gonna be dealing with. Not looking forward to it, but I would have been clueless without your videos.
Very in depth video. Great job. Had the same issue w/ the water pump failing for a 2013 Ford Taurus. It was my 1st time doing diagnosis by myself & I wanted to make sure that it was the water pump. Long story short, vehicle was still under warranty & it was sent to the dealership for repair. I looked at the invoice & it was a faulty water. Pretty proud of myself. Thank you for showing what it takes to do a 14 hr job in 1 hr. Lol. Great work. 👍👍👍
Master Ford tech here you did a great job I have done some where around 30 of these only that leaked 1 oil out of the weep hole good work on a tuff job
Fantastic videos as always. I'm very impressed with how you consistently show diagrams for torquing sequences and layouts as you go through the procedure. I haven't seen that with any other "informative-mechanical" videos. Very helpful and I can see this video helping out many others in the near future with this vehicle. Keep it up.
Exceptionally thorough, Mr Robinson.... You are truly gifted in what you do and really should be teaching this... You will be saving me a whole lot of money now! Thanks again!
All I can say is thank you so much for these videos!!!! My pump failed a couple days ago and finally after a couple days of wrenching my flex is fixed, fired and ran perfect on first try!! Engine surprisingly was out of time to begin with about 45 degrees on the crank! Thank you again. Will definitely send a donation your way!
I call bs on the 45 degrees. IF it was out 45 degrees it would have run like crap with a check engine light on along with every fault code related to cam crank correlation and you would be lucky not to have bent valves.
very informative and a great job done. My 2013 Lincoln MKT is having the same problem. The coolant would start leaking as soon as I put the heat on when the heat was off it would stop. I dropped it off at the dealer yesterday and the service rep told me the coolant is leaking from the water pump and also that the hydraulic motor mount is bad. He quoted me at 5 to 7 grand to do the work. Luckily my car is still under the ford extended warranty. I brought the car brand new and it's hand one problem after the other. I am never buying a Ford again.
Dam! You are the only video I could find explaining me problem exactly! 2011 MKT leaking oil from that exact spot! This helped me bigtime! Now for the work! Thanks again!
You do in some of their other models. I'm at 150k miles and am looking at doing this at 160k miles. Most of your Sedans with this engine will require the engine to be removed to do this work.
What did you charge the customer for this repair? Thank you for uploading this EXCELLENT video. It is the most detailed repair that I have seen on youtube yet.
Thanks for the video, was able to change my water pump out, timing chains and while I was into it I changed plugs and coil packs. The two parts that were the hardest was getting to the top bolt for the power steering pump and taking in and out the front plate. I was lucky that I did not have water in my oil. I naught the cam locking plates and I say they were worth the money. You don't have to worry if the cams move at all.
Thank you very much for this video. I have seen a lot of the 3.5l in the edge and flex blowing head gaskets or over heating very bad. Tried looking in to it with the dealer and they didn't know why and like you said there is no info on it at all. I had a shop in the poconos but sold it do to partners didn't work out. So I do it on the side at my house and talked to all the shops in my area and no one new about it. I just bought a ford edge with blown head gasket 2009 for 1100 dollars in excellent shape worth 9200.00 nada or kelly blue book. Just as I got the motor out I seen your video. So I took it apart and the water pump was the deman. Why is it so hard to get info on that engine. So THANK YOU again for the good work and taking the chance doing all that work and maybe not getting paid us mechanics have to take risk like that sometimes and it is a gamble. Now we know what to look for and change. I will replace wp in new engine before going in car only 69,000 miles but better safe then sorry.
Yet another awesome video Will. Thanks for sharing. What a great save if all remains well. Love the way you think things through and pinpoint the problem. You are inspirational. Take care.

Great overview for this repair. This is the same engine in many of their vehicles, including the Fusion Sport. Unfortunately, there's less room on the Sport, which requires engine removal to do this work.
Working on a 2007 Mazda CX-9 3.5L same engine same problem, is the most intense water pump job so far. A water pump should never be this complicated to replace nor be placed in a spot that could lead to coolant and oil mix which can easily escalate to engine replacement, horrible design... Thank you for taking the extra time to get this on video which i know adds on extra hours of labor you dont get paid for, Thanks
Good video. Antifreeze will sink to the bottom of the oil pan, it is heavier than oil. Use a clean 1 gallon, dry water bottle, cut the top 1/3 off. Carefully slowly let the oil drip out of the drain plug. don't completely remove it. after draining some, allow it to sit and the antifreeze will settle to the bottom. Keep going.
ya anytime i jack around with an involved timing chain / belt with dual overheads, the pucker factor always seems a little higher than normal when it is time to turn the key. =)
thought i'd add a suggestion from doing this myself just now. i'd removed the coolant overflow tank, so the large hose to the bottom of the radiator was sitting open. i capped the nipple on the t-stat (used for the crossover hose to the coolant overflow tank). had my son hold the wet vac on the large coolant overflow hose as i cracked the water pump off very slowly. the wet vac pulled up about a gallon of coolant, and only a few ounces drained down. i had a large rag in the oil pan (after using the wet vac to get the last of the oil). upshot, only a few ounces of coolant went into the rag, and none at all into the oil pan. the wet vac on the coolant overflow hose got almost all of it. key is to keep two bolts in the water pump, and crack it loose very gradually, loosing the screws as you go. thought i'd add this to the most helpful video i've found for this procedure. good to see you have your boy helping too. THANKS AGAIN!
I just purchased a 2011 ford flex, was told it was locked up but put in a different battery and it slightly turned over, but I did notice the oil is really milky. I figured theres were known for the water pumps to cause this issue. That being said, if you don't mind what did it cost for the customer to have this done so I know what to look for. Thank you for the outstanding and excellent advice and help with this detailed video.
Will, Your video is absolutely amazing, and if you were within 150 miles of us (and where are you exactly?), you would get all of our business. My son is facing this exact same problem with a 2010 Ford Edge Limited that is otherwise in immaculate condition with only 88,000 miles on it. This auto is his very first major purchase in life...bought it 10 months ago... and he is totally devastated to have thrown away $15,000 on a vehicle that is now sitting in the shop needing an 'engine replacement'. This morning, it was towed into the Ford Dealer where he bought it (certified used vehicle) 10 months ago... and they want $7000 (Canadian..yes.but still a lot of money for us) to 'replace' the engine. The mechanic actually said to him, "we can replace the water pump only ($2200) then you can drive it for a little while and try to sell it off to someone else OR you can spend $7000 and replace the entire motor now". My question is... how similar is the repair process for the EDGE as compared to the FLEX in your video? I am going to ask our regular mechanic (a relative) to view your video and make a determination as to whether or not he wants to attempt to fix this problem. Also, in my research tonight into this problem, I found that there is a 'Class Action Suit' being launched in the U.S. due this very same problem...i.e the 'internal' nature of the water pump that causes catastrophic failure in the engine when it leaks coolant 'undetectably' with no warning into the engine and then overheats to the point that the engine 'fails' (or at least, they have told us that bearings seized, etc. and the engine needs to be replaced.. do you think that is true? I am wondering if the engine has in fact 'catastrophically failed', or is it just more convenient to replace the entire engine & water pump at the same time. This appears to be a design failure that virtually guarantees that this failure will happen again. I have read one blog where the gentleman actually replaced his motor twice due to this same problem, before giving up and getting rid of his Ford Edge. I would appreciate any answer you can give me. And, by any chance or you within 150 miles of Toronto, Canada? If not... our loss. Regards, Katharine.
Please give me your PayPal info!!!! You just got me out of a huge jam financially and I need to drop you some money. I must’ve watched your part one and part two at least 100 times and I had a shop telling me that I needed to get a new engine. I just started my engine after following your excellent tutorial. I have absolutely no idea who disliked this video. My only guess is it’s the Ford engineers it came up with this genius water pump design.
Man! You really followed up! You're an awesome person! I was about respond with the patreon info that he had replied to another comment, but that comment was to you 5 MONTHS LATER! Hell, you deserve a donation (ummmm.....not from me....uhhhhh I'm broke) just for being so diligent. You deserve a high five for following up.
I had the exact same thing happen to my 2011 Explorer 3.5 Duratec. I am in the process of replacing the water pump... fingers crossed. If this works you will have saved me putting in a new engine at about $4k!
I've seen a number of videos about these internal water pumps and what goes wrong with them. I'm curious about the bearing for the water pump itself. Given that the timing chain gets wet w/ oil as part of normal engine operation, it would make sense that that oil also would aid in lubricating that water pump bearing but I can't find anything to support that theory. Do you know if the bearing for the pump is "permanently lubricated" and no oil from the engine assists in lubricating the bearing or is that bearing open to engine oil, again for the purpose of providing lubrication. I've seen videos where there is excessive wear in the bearing but no one has explained about how that occurred. If the bearing is "permanently" lubricated then it IS only a matter of time before the bearing wears out. If it instead is lubricated by engine oil ("splash" lubrication) then why would the bearing EVER wear out?
Thanks a lot for video. My run of 100,000 miles, I would like to replace a pomp. What your personal opinion on replacement of chains of the gas-distributing mechanism and natyazhitel of chains on my run?
Have a 2009 with same issue. My water pump was really bad though and had quite a bit of coolant in the oil but never overheated. I tore it down and put a water pump in it and I got it all put back together and it ran smooth for 10mins but as soon as I gave it gas it threw the P0016 and p0021 and it wouldn't idle and won't get past 3500RPM. I torn it back down thinking I was a tooth off but my timing was good. I did reuse the original chain could it be stretched to far or can the VCT be clogged. Rather not tear it down for a 3rd time if there are other things I should check while I have cover off. Thanks for the video.
Just ran into the same issue with my friends car, except we had small ball bearings in the oil along with the water mix. Our guess is the water pump detonated. After doing some research it seems Ford had had a lot of water pump issue with this engine, wondering if using the water pump somewhat as a pulley on the timing chain is causing this. Have not found a recall on this. Good Vid, will be tearing ours down today. Thanks
I have followed your video and it has helped me until Iwent to put the chain back on. It doesn't line up any more. Could the cams have moved??? .....not sure why the timing marks don't line up now.
I know this thread is really old but i watched both your videos and i had to do same water pump and timing components replacement i got everything done and after i started my 2009 flex up and after short while the p0016 code popped up. Before replacing everything the car never overheated nor did that code ever come up only after i replaced everything and i know its not out of time.when the water pump went out it did leak coolant and we only drove it few miles home so it didnt get drove too after pump went out so my question is why an how can i get rid of the code p0016 now im bout to replace both cam positon sensors to see if that helps thanks
Awesome repair. That was a big job. You would think that Ford would know better than to install a water pump inside after the infamous 2.7 liter Chrysler mess. I guess i'll never understand engineers. Looking forward to your next video.
Great video.. thanks for sharing... btw.. do they still sell these engines with the internal pump? Am looking at a use 2016 Edge. What year did they change if they did? thx
Please cut the water pump case in two through the shaft, to show the oil inlet from the engine to the bearing, and the outlet back to the oil pan ... I have never seen anybody do this. It would be a great learning tool Thanks
So after the oil and coolant being mixed how did you clean the engine ? Same thing happened to mine and was told to change the oil multiple times in a range of 50 miles.
Did you mention or go over the Thermostat at all in this video or part 1? I'm needing to check the thermostat due to issues, but there's absolutely no info online on the location of it. This video was the closest result for me. If you didn't mention it, do you happen to know where it might be located?
Good Video! Can you recommend a service manual for the Flex? Where did you get your diagram with the torque sequence on that cover? This is why I HATE working on Fords. Waterpump is leaking on our 2012 Flex it's gonna cost me $400 in parts and tools to fix it. Waterpump started leaking this winter on my 185,000 mile 2006 5.3 Chevy (original) and it took me maybe 90mins and less than 1/2 to R&R the pump and refill the coolant!
Hi. Thank you for the video, this is very useful and valuable information. This is very detailed. I have questions, maybe you can comment, any thoughts... so: 1 I have a similar engine on the Ford EDGE 2008 3.5 Duratec and I plan to replace the pump myself, I watched some yuotube videos on this engine and hope I can handle it, but I can't understand if I can do it without a special tool to hold the camshafts?! The logic of my thoughts is that I only need to replace the water pump and therefore I will remove only the first large chain, so I will not need to hold the camshafts, what is your opinion?
I'm doing same job now and I have the cover off but. I'm surprised the chain has to go on in a specific way since nothing is moving what difference would it make. Cams are froze in 1 spot
@@robinsonsauto so the ford dealer is telling me cam.shaft phaser but i have same issues as this car... can i get a detailed list of all things u got including like the break cleaner n stuff like silicone
Your video is very informational as I am having coolant loss issues also. How much coolant was being lost in this Ford Flex? Was it a lot in a short period of time. I have a 2008 Ford Edge with the 3.5 that is losing the entire amount coolant from the reservoir just going into town and back (10 miles). No visible leaks and no visible coolant in the oil and no overheating. I have refilled the reservoir about 6 times and it continues to lose the same amount. With that much loss, wouldn't I be seeing coolant in the oil? It seems like a lot of coolant loss in a short period of time to just be getting burned off in the combustion chamber. I'm also suspect of the water pump.
How did you manage to get the cover back in? I have been dryfitting on my edge can seem to get it lined up with out touching a side which would have silicone on it when the time comes?
If I do it, I would use three M10 bolts (removing the hex) and twist them on by hand to use them as guilds (one on each bank and one at the bottom near the crank shaft bolt). Then drop the valve cover vertically and ask another person to guild it in from the bottom as you guild it from the top. When the cover line up, slide it in and the seal will not smear at all. After put on few m10 bolts, you can remove the guilds.
I just did one of these on a mazda cx9... only replaced pump, nothing else.. still have a p0016.. motor runs fine.. no hesitation.. still has good zoom zoom.. but this code is not going away.. chainstretch? or vvt issue?
I had to replace the head gasket on this motor. What is the best process for retiming everything since i had to take off all the cam shafts. Also the cam chain broke. I've never timed a car before
So what was the issue with this flex ? Because I'm having the same issue. Mine is an 11 rides and drives excellent but all of a sudden started leaking oil with no service lights on
I noticed your harmonic balancer had a white paint mark on it. My 2013 has an orange Mark. Is that mark supposed to line up somewhere to balance the crank?
My sister has the same vehicle, her water pump went out the dealership wanted $3000.00 to change it!! Luckily my brother in law and his mechanic friend did it themselves, it took them two days
Hey Robinson, what if I removed the chain without setting the marks in place. How can I get it back in sync? Any Ideas? I messed the whole thing up and now I can get the crank to turn a whole revolution.
Hey did you use a timing cover gasket or did you use RTV to seal the engine cover? I've been looking for a timing cover gasket/ engine cover gasket but I can't find one.
I have a 2010 with a water pump leak.. 180k miles. No check engine light just a small leak. Noticed when car started to over heat and fluid was low. filled and now car is ok but it is leaking. My heart sank when I watched this video... How many hours total? I am mechanically inclined but this makes me very nervous to tackle on my own.. Do you think a backyard mechanic can tackle this? I am guessing 2k plus fix at the shop it's no way feasible for me. Is the timing chain necessary at 180k miles? should I just sell this thing? Thank you in advance.
I did mine in ten hours. I had to tear it apart again for my own mistake and I had it down to removing the water pump in 2 and a half hours. You need to take the intake and valve covers off but honestly only takes 30 mins. The coil pack will be seized and break the rubber seals though and you will need this part x6 "WR6135 Motorcraft"
Doing the same job on my 09 Taurus. This video is a life saver. Did you pull the sprockets off on the cam shaft? I messed up and have to pull the primary sprocket on bank 1. Looking for some guidance on removal / reinstallation.
I just did a cylinderhead job. It starts up but has a slapping r ticking noise. Should like a lifter. Any ideas what could be. I machine the head an vavles
could you tell me the quickest way to align marks on timing chain i will be doing my 2013 taurus water pump and you mention ed that it could take all day to align marks what did you mean.
I'm going to have my water pump change next week on my ford flex 3.7 engine, just for preventive maintenance. Over a hundred thousand miles on it! Do I still need to change the timing components although the car running great with no water pump leak? Thanks & Great video!!!!
Terrific job and explanation!! I will be having a mechanic doing this to my 2013 Flex in two days. How much did you charge your customer to do this? I want to know if my mechanic is asking a fair price.
Hello, I just completed this repair on a Lincoln MKT, and was just wondering, what did you use to adjust the timing to TDC (as far as turning the crankshaft)? I'm asking because after getting the water pump in, adjusting the timing, and changing the turbo chargers out, and putting it back together, I have a code that relates to timing being off a little, so I have to go back in to readjust it. Did you use the crankshaft pulley bolt to turn the crankshaft to TDC? Thanks.
Great video. Will this work for a 2008 mercury sable with a 3.5 engine? Some videos show the engine being removed that would be awful. Did you get OEM parts on line or at local Ford dealer? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!!!

Keep going.
you are a very good mechanic and did a very good job plus a very instructive video thank you sir God Bless you.
Man thats a good feeling when it fires right up like that and sounds smooth. Good JOb. Love your videos, thank you for posting
Sure is...the alternative sucks lol and to be honest with this repair I was sweeting it, thank you
ya anytime i jack around with an involved timing chain / belt with dual overheads, the pucker factor always seems a little higher than normal when it is time to turn the key. =)
thought i'd add a suggestion from doing this myself just now. i'd removed the coolant overflow tank, so the large hose to the bottom of the radiator was sitting open. i capped the nipple on the t-stat (used for the crossover hose to the coolant overflow tank). had my son hold the wet vac on the large coolant overflow hose as i cracked the water pump off very slowly. the wet vac pulled up about a gallon of coolant, and only a few ounces drained down. i had a large rag in the oil pan (after using the wet vac to get the last of the oil). upshot, only a few ounces of coolant went into the rag, and none at all into the oil pan. the wet vac on the coolant overflow hose got almost all of it.
key is to keep two bolts in the water pump, and crack it loose very gradually, loosing the screws as you go.
thought i'd add this to the most helpful video i've found for this procedure. good to see you have your boy helping too. THANKS AGAIN!
Thanks
EXCELLENT VIDEO FRIEND, THANK YOU VERY MUCH HELPED ME HERE IN BRAZIL, A GREAT EMBRACE
you are an excellent mechanic.....keep the videos coming.
I like the way you thought things through, good job.
another tough one well done, thanks Will
stv357 sure was, thank you for the compliment
Please give me your PayPal info!!!!
You just got me out of a huge jam financially and I need to drop you some money. I must’ve watched your part one and part two at least 100 times and I had a shop telling me that I needed to get a new engine. I just started my engine after following your excellent tutorial. I have absolutely no idea who disliked this video. My only guess is it’s the Ford engineers it came up with this genius water pump design.
Currently doing the same. Glad to hear you had a positive experience, hope mine is as well
Thanks so much for this video. I am having the same issue on my 2010 Flex and as you mentioned, information seems extremely limited.
Thank you for taking the time to post this. Good stuff.
Wow...that is a big job to replace a water pump....!
Fantastic explanation and breakdown and repair.
I had the exact same thing happen to my 2011 Explorer 3.5 Duratec. I am in the process of replacing the water pump... fingers crossed. If this works you will have saved me putting in a new engine at about $4k!
Great job diagnosing and repairing. What a tremendous pain just for a water pump. At least 2 Grand labor!
How much would it cost to replace water pump?
I was thinking about getting a 2007 Ford Edge.
What kinda of stuff should i use to clean the milky oil inside the engine after i change the water pump ?
Thanks. Your video was a big help on this project.
Ferdinand Fite your welcome glad it helped out
Have a 2009 with same issue.
Looking forward to your next video.
wysetech2000 thank you i appreciate the compliment, i can never understand engineers either lol
Great video.. thanks for sharing... btw.. do they still sell these engines with the internal pump? Am looking at a use 2016 Edge. What year did they change if they did? thx
In 2014 it got new bearings, but still there in that impossible place thru 2019.
Please cut the water pump case in two through the shaft, to show the oil inlet from the engine to the bearing, and the outlet back to the oil pan ... I have never seen anybody do this. It would be a great learning tool Thanks
great video thanks for all the info ..my ford edge has the same problem
Good job man. Pretty involved repair. Hope you got paid well.
Thank you, never enough haha
Where are you located I'm having the same issue
How do get the top bolt of power steering pump from the top or bottom
Is this the same procedure for the 2012 Ford Flex 3.5?
So after the oil and coolant being mixed how did you clean the engine ? Same thing happened to mine and was told to change the oil multiple times in a range of 50 miles.
Did you mention or go over the Thermostat at all in this video or part 1? I'm needing to check the thermostat due to issues, but there's absolutely no info online on the location of it. This video was the closest result for me. If you didn't mention it, do you happen to know where it might be located?
You did a GREAT job!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Did you replace the plastic o rings/seals from the vvt housing. The ones that push in to the cam phasers.
how much did u charge for this job?
Hi. Thank you for the video, this is very useful and valuable information. This is very detailed. I have questions, maybe you can comment, any thoughts... so:
1 I have a similar engine on the Ford EDGE 2008 3.5 Duratec and I plan to replace the pump myself, I watched some yuotube videos on this engine and hope I can handle it, but I can't understand if I can do it without a special tool to hold the camshafts?!
Cams are froze in 1 spot
hello. thanks for the video. so you didn't have to hold the cams with the special tool?
@robinsonauto
This is a good question
He said that he used two crescent wrenches on the cam flats.
And keep in mind the original diagnosis by the dealership! Amazing!! Hopefully they are watching this video!!
***** crazy right? thank you for the compliment i sure hope so to
@@robinsonsauto so the ford dealer is telling me cam.shaft phaser but i have same issues as this car... can i get a detailed list of all things u got including like the break cleaner n stuff like silicone
good info and job well done as always thanks for sharing
j georges thank you i appreciate the compliment
How many times u gotta fix this boe
Excellent job!!! Where were you able to get info for the torque specs?
I had to replace the head gasket on this motor. What is the best process for retiming everything since i had to take off all the cam shafts. Also the cam chain broke. I've never timed a car before
So if water pump gives up it shots water true the sweep hole
So what was the cause of the oil leak? Never heard the reason in either video
I agree. you've got a fan here
Christopher Mohamed thank you
So what was the issue with this flex ? Because I'm having the same issue. Mine is an 11 rides and drives excellent but all of a sudden started leaking oil with no service lights on
Great job. Im doing this soon thank you
I noticed your harmonic balancer had a white paint mark on it. My 2013 has an orange Mark. Is that mark supposed to line up somewhere to balance the crank?
My sister has the same vehicle, her water pump went out the dealership wanted $3000.00 to change it!! Luckily my brother in law and his mechanic friend did it themselves, it took them two days
Did you have to press the crankshaft pulley back on or just use the new nut to "pull" it on?
Also please... Can this be done without removing the top half of the engine?
I did mine in ten hours. I had to tear it apart again for my own mistake and I had it down to removing the water pump in 2 and a half hours. You need to take the intake and valve covers off but honestly only takes 30 mins. The coil pack will be seized and break the rubber seals though and you will need this part x6 "WR6135 Motorcraft"
Dealership quoted me $2800 for this job.
Doing the same job on my 09 Taurus. This video is a life saver. Did you pull the sprockets off on the cam shaft? I messed up and have to pull the primary sprocket on bank 1. Looking for some guidance on removal / reinstallation.
Buen trabajo amigo ..saludos desde cd juarez chihuahua
How much did this repair cost?
Brilliant mechanic!
You are amazing and top shelf for sure..
I'm going to have my water pump change next week on my ford flex 3.7 engine, just for preventive maintenance. Over a hundred thousand miles on it!
Do I still need to change the timing components although the car running great with no water pump leak?
Thanks & Great video!!!!
Good job !! How much is it for this job ???
Nice series of videos covering this. You didn’t find it nessesary to drop the oil pan and flush it out?
