      Most Warner Bros Projects are amazing when they give creative freedom to their Team and Directors
      DCEU's MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF IT WITHOUT QUALITY

      The script book? absolutely not. It's one of the worst fanfiction like stories i've ever read. Totally doesn't fit the series and the plot is just stupid. Can't say anything about the play, because after reading this I'm never going to see it, but i assume it has the same awfull story.

      Honestly a review of that show would be a waste of time. Its over and it has been for a while, a review would just be going over what has been said already. Now an analysis of the show or a part of it would be much more interesting. If it was done in the same vein as the action movie analysis he did a while back it would be great.

      Ah, yes, nowadays, rational, educated criticism passes as anger because we should all be politically correct and flatter everyone. I'm not angry, I'm making a fair criticism of bad literature. It's only cristal-fragile current day sensibilities that believe everyone should be flattered instead of receiving honest criticism that believes that's anger.

    I think Chris slightly over hyped this film, yet it still works pretty damn well as both a film and a spin off to harry potter. Far more satisfying than Cursed Child!

    • @TheGeorgeD13
      @TheGeorgeD13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Overhyped? There's no such thing as overhyping a film if one truly believes it is that good...

    • @likeastarbaby
      @likeastarbaby 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      erm what. of course there is. i have no doubt that peoples excitement for a new harry potter-related movie has completely blinded them to how average the movie was. it wasn't bad by any means, but definitely over hyped.

    • @TheGeorgeD13
      @TheGeorgeD13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      likeastarbaby Films are subjective, actually. So, NOPE, you have no place to say that, in reality. Overhyped movies? Bullshit. Never has ever happened. It only seems that way because you didn't like a film as much as some other people did.

    • @likeastarbaby
      @likeastarbaby 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      i'm obviously not suggesting that the people don't believe that they think the film is good? its very basic psychology. in experiments, people will believe that branded items are better even though in a blind test they can't tell the difference, or they even call the unbranded item better. films work in the same way. by surrounding a film with hype before its released, shoving it in your face constantly and having it relate to something that you like already, its much more likely to be received positively by you. no-one is suggesting that this film is bad, by the way. just that its above average and not 100% rotten tomatoes standard. I'd give it a 6/10.
      i suppose it comes down to what you think makes a film good. is it that people enjoy it no matter the reason why, or is it that its an objectively cinematically good, well thought-out movie? when i was a child i could happily sit and watch adam sandler movies all day, but as i've watched a lot of movies in my lifetime i'm now very sensitive to tired cliches, franchising plugs and awkward storytelling, all of which this movie is FILLED with. it turns me right off to see these things. but if you don't watch a lot of movies you wouldn't even notice.

    This movie takes place in the mid 1920's, right? And the American Wizarding world is led by a Black woman as their President, right?
    So what the hell were the Black magical community doing while their Muggle counterparts were suffering throughout America? It took Muggle America another 80 years to elect a Black President! *>:(*

      (Anyway, the movie's a lot of fun, but...as a "Secret-Magical-World-Within-Ours" kinda movie? _Doctor Strange_ is obviously the better film of the two)

    I really loved this movie, I loved the characters the most though. I loved Newt so much! He was kind of a new type of lead, it’s been a while sense I’ve seen a main character with something similar to Social Anxiety and Almost Femininity in the way he is able to show so much empathy! But my ultimate favorite may have been Jacob, He was very sweet and was able to be an average guy who’s able to still help the situation and has life goals that aren’t as average as the common goal of money or food, The only character I didn’t like as much was Tina. She was a good character I just didn’t like her as much. I have to say when I watched it again I liked it more because I could notice the smaller moments with credence and foreshadowing at the beginning!

      I see this movie as equivalent to Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. More childish and less emotional than the rest of the films. I really feel that the sequels to this will be outstanding. My only problem with this movie is that the Kowalski-Queenie relationship doesn't seem necessary.

    • @Kinghenhog39
      @Kinghenhog39 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      THANK YOU! While it really was enjoyable all the outstandingly positive reviews make it seem flawless in its narrative. At least Chris points out some of them but honestly I couldn't latch on emotionally as much as I wanted to I will say the beasts they introduce are wonderful tho I wish some were practical fx and I admit it seems a lot like Sorcerers stone in that its story is mostly childish like but the villains were my fav part of this story. I thought Colin Farrell was the best part of this film and Erza Millers character had great backstory so they were the most compelling so obvs the reveal at the end with Grindewald fell really flat to me and I basically felt betrayed. I didnt like Waterson tho I felt she was whiny and I know she is supposed to be timid but it felt like over acting. Again it is not at all a horrible movie and still retains the magic that is in this universe but the hero characters besides Kowalski weren't as awesome as I wanted them to be. There is room for improvement even tho it was entertaining and the villain was menacing so I hope the sequels build and mature the way the potter series did and I can imagine this story being much more epic. Chris's review did make me appreciate that its its own story more tho! Chamber of Secrets hooked me to the films so I hope this sequel does the same.

    What I really liked from David Yates was The Legend of Tarzan, it was a really good movie but had only the potential to be great. A lot of movies today has lost sense of the heroic figure, and Tarzan has always been an iconic hero figure in film. He deserves a strong comeback, and that actor who portrayed him is the perfect Tarzan just as Henry Cavill is today's perfect Superman...

      It's clear you've never seen the film. That's the plot the trailers show. They don't show what happens in the third act.
      The film has far more of a plot than the first Harry Potter film that can be summarised as "boy finds out he's a wizard, goes to school, and saves a stone from an evil wizard." Everything else is just filler - that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable. Simple being in this world and seeing the magic of it is fantastic.

    • @mieroth
      @mieroth 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rahul Chaudhary How is any of what you just mentioned plot? They're characters. And there are characters in this too, and they're interesting too. I absolutely love the main 4 along with Creedence and "Graves". Everything you're stating is simply up to opinion - I marvelled at all the magic and was interested in the characters and plot. And this film had two very unpredictable twists. The second salamers were a continued presence throughout the film, and Creedence is hardly a "boss fight." He's by far the most sympathetic villain in the HP universe yet, and his story is sad because the situation didn't have to end the way it did. Obscurus' cause damage but aren't difficult to destroy - the issue is that Newt didn't want to. And "Graves" was ultimately one man who wasn't difficult to take down. This to me was nothing like a cliche end-of-the-world conclusion - it was a natural conclusion of the events preceding it that ended up telling us a lot about the lead characters.
      Seriously, this movie is basically Jacob discovering magic and going on an adventure. Which is the greatest thing ever. This movie didn't need high stakes - that will come later once Grindelwald becomes more powerful.

    This had too little effect on the main Harry Potter series. Although it was cool having Grindelwald react to the mention of name of Albus Dumbledore. It's that one little easter egg that got me so excited about the universe again. This movie got me wondering more than I expected. So much has to be explained after this. I wish Newt would have said more words. I was sort of underwhelmed by the Newt character though. Yeah, he's in a relationship with a relative of one of the characters in the main series. The good bits were with Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller. They could've explained the main monster a bit more and put it more in the context of a "fantastic beast" so it would be at least a little bit more connected to Newt. This movie definitely expanded the universe a lot more despite the fact that they hardly mentioned anything of the of the rest of the universe other than Grindelwald attacking Europe. Again, this movie has a lot to explain. When exactly did Grindelwald steal the Elder Wand? Why wasn't he using the Elder Wand during Fantastic Beasts? Will we see the Legendary Duel between Albus and Grindelwald? Why did Gellert look so young when he stole the Wand from Gregorovitch why why wasn't he using it during the events of Fantastic Beasts? This is really confusing. I really hope we're following the story of Grindelwald instead of Newt. To be honest, Newt is an overall boring character. I was more interested in Grindelwald and Credence. They could've gone without Madame President. I was really hoping they'd make a Hippogriff easter egg since Hippogriffs are indeed misunderstood creatures. Overall, I like the story. I love the setting. I like the build up to the next movie. If you're a true Harry Potter fan, you would definitely enjoy this. If you like critiquing films, this is a pretty good film.

    I really enjoyed the movie and I can't wait to see the sequels. I love the charaters, the world. We all know that Dumbledore and Grindelwald is coming in the upcoming movies, I'm so excited to see their story. Thanks J.K. for writing this.

    I saw Fastastic Beasts today and I loved it! Every character is great, there isn't a character that seems out of place (my pet peeve). I find myself laughing out loud spontenously because i really enjoyed this movie. Depp is really sinister in the end... and i love it!

    Watched it today. The soundtrack was really cool, sometimes you could hear the original Harry Potter theme slightly playing in the background.

    "Pretty much every remake, reboot, spinoff, sequel, prequel, whatever; they all have ties to the other things that we like, and some of them do it way too much. *Cough*, "Ghostbusters". Great review, Chris. I was impressed with this movie, too.

    I haven't seen this yet but I feel like it'll try to hard to set up another franchise, instead of making it's own good stand alone story which they can add on too later if they have more to tell

      i saw it and it definitely finished its story
      It could have been the only movie in the series and youd believe it
      but im glad there will be more

      Luca Leone I agree. If they decided to not do a sequel (which is sad) it can totally end that way. I especially liked the way they ended it with the leading cast, which for me again would be good enough and sweet as it is, but I honestly want to know more about what would happen. I think this is their chance to redeem themselves for not successfully building up the Ginny-Harry romance so I'm just really excited.

      You're exactly right. TERRIBLE stand alone film. Made close to no sense how some things came about in this film

    • @josephbilderback4549
      @josephbilderback4549 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elijah Cassidy for me it was the opposite, I don't see how there could be any sequels. The story was so tightly wrapped up (albeit with a somewhat bittersweet ending), don't see how it could continue

    Yo Chris,
    I just watched "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" and I think you fanboyed very hard on this movie.
    There are so many plot holes and logic hiccups you didn't mention. Also stuff you criticized in other films, you seem to overlock here.
    I really enjoyed the HP series (some more and some less ofc), but this film is just not nearly living up to your score in my opinion.

    Have to say thanks Chris for being so refreshingly positive about this movie. Ever since I saw this film a few days ago (which I totally loved by the way!), I've been disappointed by the number of negative reviews I've found on TH-cam from die-hard Potter fans. Bizarrely they almost always start by saying how much they enjoyed the film, then proceed to dissect and criticise almost every part!!

      No I loved them the most because of how whimsical they were and their sense of adventure. Chris Colombus directed both of them too.

      @alexandresobreiramartins9461 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, and also they're the only to readable books. At least by that point, Rowling still showed a little bit of creativity (even though HP 1 is at least a ripoff of Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic, not to mention ALL chosen one stories every written) . After that, it's all downhill trash. The same with the movies, of course.

    "This is the ninth film in the Harry Potter Universe and they're still good...That is amazing!"Well, thank David Yates, who has been the director of every potter film since The Order of the Phoenix. No doubt he is a credit to the quality of this film series.
