    Kel. Splendid job. You should be very proud. I am in the first stage of planning for a 2 berth set up in my Ducato. But I'm in Western Australia so your heating set up will be replaced by an Air con set up. I'm tall so I'm needing North South bed set up. But some great ideas have been taken. Hope you are enjoying your RV. Mick

      @nevergiveup7532 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Goodluck with the conv! I think deciding which van to buy is the first step to committing. Me and my partner are working out which to get. What made you get the Peugeot?

    • @davidgolding8007
      @davidgolding8007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      NeverGiveUp reasonably low mileage 1 owner van that was the first consideration secondly there are loads of bits available for this platform of van plus the bed can sit across the back which is a real plus being able to have a fixed bed was a must.

    • @davidgolding8007
      @davidgolding8007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess my biggest fear is a lack of confidence..... but there is lots of satisfaction to be had by carrying out most of the jobs myself ......... having said that when I start cutting the windows and roof vents next week I will shitting myself 😀😀

    • @nevergiveup7532
      @nevergiveup7532 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's part of the reason I may consider getting help, but then it won't be as satisfying. Just been looking at those boxer vans and they are awesome, great choice! Me and my partner are going to be going into a camper fulltime, obviously a lot of planning and thinking to do beforehand, but not too much to overwhelm and put us off haha. I'll be looking at some Peugeot's this week for sure, give some a test drive and checkout the size etc. We don't even have tools, but they're easy to buy I guess. Do you have a full laid out plan or take it as it comes? So much to think about, dunno where to start!

    • @davidgolding8007
      @davidgolding8007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      NeverGiveUp I have a few ideas very similar layout to this video. I have plenary of tools. But yes as you say I would like to do as much as I can except the gas. I have bought a book which is really good and was well worth the money to be honest. My plan is to take the van around Europe once I retire in a few years. We should keep in Touch ID love to know what van you get and how your conversion goes.

    • @kelontour1902
      @kelontour1902  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      alyce clark Thanks, I didn’t bother with the extra one no, depending where you intended to put the seats if it was by the centre pillar you have an option to hang a belt from there I think so you would swap the receiver to the other side and the centre belt on the seat becomes used for the other.. if you see what I mean 🤔

    • @kelontour1902
      @kelontour1902  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers. Good point, had a couple since without issue, or mention. If that's because they haven't noticed I'm not sure. I'm guessing that if seat belts are installed on a seat then there checked out and assumed as passenger seats. If not then there not intended for passenger use and therefore should not be used as such. Let's face it, there are plenty of campers with bench type seat arrangements and no seat belts on them ! But I'm no expert.
      So bottom line is, if your wanting to carry extra passengers on any seat, then seat belt should by rights be provided.

      We all get to that time of life I guess 🙄 though I do miss using the bike more and just packing a tent, this was my Mrs's fault.... fed up with getting wet at times and using dirty toilets! But that's women for ya.. bless em..🙄 having said that I do love it, though not quite the ducati, i have managed to put a scooter on the back that we take with us, and that's great fun.
      Waffeling.......getting back to the seats... original 1 + 2 bench seats I used and brought a matching single seat I was fortunate to find on e-bay.
      Word of warning if you plan to do it that way, when you disconnect the original bench seat and swap it for a single the ECU thinks there's a seat missing (which I guess there is) but then you have the airbag light come on.... and stay on. I've looked into it but haven't as yet come up with a solution, other than removing the dash unit and covering the light with a bit of tape when it's due it's MOT 🤧 if you know of anything would be helpful.

      Kel On Tour sorry for the delay in responding. Yep, done the bike thing! Now time for luxury. Auto electrician will sort the wiring, but I guess we are not dissimilar people and like to do everything ourselves! Thanks for the info, your layout is perfect for my purpose other than I will have a bench side on rather than the twin seat you have used. Thanks for your help, Dan

    Just as well you decided to video the whole build because when you tell any stranger “yeah I converted it myself” they’d probably walk away thinking no chance. That looks like it’s been built by a professional conversion outfit, the multi skill set needed to complete to that standard is mind blowing, diy on another level. As for 30k, from what I’ve looked at you could add 5 to 10k to that. P.s. me and your dog enjoyed every minute 😂.

    Hi Kel!
    Great to see such an excellent campervan conversion like this. We are in the process of converting out our fiat ducato, and I had a few questions. 🙈
    1/ Where did you purchase your taps?
    2/ we think your van is the closest layout possible to what we are looking for, however if you where to change anything what would it be?
    3/ do you think there is a way to change the front into a mini double for kids with your layout?
    4/ we like the idea of having the option to change the back into a seating area. Is there a reason why this may not work in this layout.
    Thanks again for taking the time to make this video, we hope to be posting how to video in the future and will be sure to mention you as inspiration!
    With thanks

Also where did you source the board from? I have used moorland but it’s now 150 per sheet. Thanks for sharing, it’s a great layout. I have the lwb Citroen Relay, same body, this will be my winter project. You did well to come in at £6500. Huge respect. Dan

    • @kelontour1902
      @kelontour1902  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dan, wow its gone up quite a bit then! Bloody hell that's 500 quid on ten sheets!
      In a word no, given the size of van lwb it works well for us. However, If I had to do it all again I may be tempted to go for the xlwb the extra room in the back would allow two single beds/seating along each side of its length. But then of course you lose the garage underneath which is a small price to pay I guess for having to clamber over your partner during the night if you have pee or you get up earlier than your partner !.... Kathy !!! ( that's my partner of course) be easier if I was state side but she insists being on that side or course 🙄.
      6500 may have been slightly mis calculated this was based on the main factors getting at interior level but with wheels rims, switches, fixtures etc getting on for 10k easy. The Alpine sat/head unit i fitted just less than a year ago was 1200 quid and I've done some further additions that I hope to update on fairly soon. Good luck with your build !

      Thanks Kel.
      I convert for a living, mostly T5 and pop tops and windows. Some bespoke furniture. Having a fully equipped workshop is the benefit, I have bought a 2017 relay, lwb, I will convert for just the two of us, need the space and shower room and fixed bed, plan is next year to do the NC500 then France into Germany etc ., time of life thing! We will opt for a microwave and a bench seat opposite the sliding door, similar to Greg Virgoe with his crafter.
      Many thanks again for the inspiration.
      Cheers,

    Nice job Kel, i noticed the booze in the fridge typical bloke!! i'm interested what you think of the sergeant as i was just going to use my own fuse-board so how easy was it? I'm getting a sprinter it think although might change my mind now.

    • @kelontour1902
      @kelontour1902  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ant, my first thought was also a sprinter, main reason, I had visions of a "race van" somewhere I could put the bike in. Soon realised given it's size, was impractical. Added to the fact getting the various parts etc ( though they have now caught up quite a bit) opted for a ducato, and I'll have to make do with putting a scooter on the back I thought. It's more square than the sprinter, sprinter being tapered towards the top but higher. This can have it's disadvantages for entering car parks etc with those bar height restrictions.
      They might seem more prestigious but you pay for that too should anything go wrong, as for motorhome parts etc you won't have any trouble getting whatever you want for it.
      I've been more than pleased with my choice.

    Hello Kel, like everyone I can only say one adjective: "exceptional" your creation is truly superior to all those I have found on the Tube that I have been exploring for months... I am about to get ready to transform a Ducato into a camper, it would help me and many of your admirers, know where to find those fantastic vertical aluminum angles. Also the edge of the panels that you used in the various realizations of the kitchen, etc. please. Can you help me with this information?
    You are the best, thank you for sharing your accomplishment.

    Great video, my question is what was your gross weight with it fully loaded ?

  • @davidhayes4814
    @davidhayes4814 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    New 6m Fiat Ducato vans with 1.9m standing height, with 140PS diesel engines cost well over £30K, once you include VAT. This assumes a 10% discount. New conversions on the same vehicle start at £37K. Converting a new vehicle makes no sense. Whilst converting old vans makes more sense, it is hard to sell on non-branded vehicles, irrespective of how good they are.Converting old vans, for your own use, is a compromise. How much can you afford to spend converting an older van that may have cost you only £5K? Not much before it ceases to make sense. It is all about the money. Sad that......

    Seen this video before. I think out of all the videos I have seen, your conversion is top, very well done. I have one question. I have the same situation with the double seats. How did you get them to fit. what did you cut off and finally, how did you fix them to the floor. Grateful if you can advise me on that. Thanks again for a first class video and conversion. Joe

    Are you a professional builder? Just asking because this is no typical DIY finish. It's a work of art mate and just stunning. Would you commission doing another for others?
