One of AVM's most popular serials, Sontham (சொந்தம்) is centred around Akila, a simple girl born into a lower middle class family. Akila is the one who manages the house and supports and looks after her parents and siblings. A twist of fate sees her married to Gowri, a millionaire's son who is paralysed and bedridden. Akila nurtures and motivates him and helps him regain use of his limbs. But when he treats her brutally and throws her out of the house, Akila becomes mentally disturbed. Will Akila be strong and win her family back?
ஏவி. எம்மின் மிகவும் பிரபலமான நெடுந்தொடர்களில் ஒன்று சொந்தம்.. ஒரு சாதரணமான நடுத்தரக் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த எளிமையான பெண்ணான அகிலாவை மையமாகவும், அவளைச் சுற்றி நடக்கும் நிகழ்வுகளையும் கொண்டதே இந்த நெடுந்தொடர்... அகிலா தனி ஒருத்தியாக குடும்ப பாரத்தைச் சுமந்து, தனது பெற்றவர்களையும், உடன் பிறந்தவர்களையும் காப்பாற்றுகிறாள்...பக்கவாதத்தினால் படுத்த படுக்கையாய் கிடக்கும் கோடீஸ்வரன் மகனான கௌரியை விதிவசத்தால் அகிலா திருமணம் செய்து கொள்கிறாள்... கௌரியின் உடல்நலத்தை தேற்றி, அவனை ஊக்குவித்து எழுந்து நடமாடச் செய்கிறாள்.... ஆனால் கௌரி அகிலாவை கொடுமைப் படுத்தி, துன்புறுத்தி வீட்டை விட்டு வெளியே துரத்த, அவள் மனதளவில் பாதிக்கப் படுகிறாள்... சிக்கல்களில் இருந்து மீண்டு தன் சொந்தங்களை வெற்றி கொள்வாளா? விடை கான... சொந்தம் நெடுந்தொடரைப் பாருங்க்கள்...
