Technical job on dig out but turned out to be a damp squib as we say in Scotland, a damp squib is a firework that goes bang! being damp it frissels out to nothing. Still I was impressed by the accuracy of your driving, you are a master.
Looks good. Drove from just south of OKC down to Foley Alabama to pick up a concrete pump for a guy at one point. It was built into a trailer with twin torsion axles. Had a spare tire but doubt I could have changed it the thing was so heavy. The wiring for the brakes and lights was ruined so before I could even pull it out of the yard I had to fix all of that. Drove back about 60 MPH the whole way so it was a long slow trip and was worried about the bearings so every time I stopped I would pump grease down into them. I am sure more than a few cars had some grease end up on them but it didn't throw a bearing on the trip. Nearly lost a finger due to the bands for the steel pipe when I was working on a pipe crew. It was one of the ones that was sprung too tight and while we were sliding the two sections together it got me. The stuff had laid in a flooded field for a week before we put it in and the derp doctor didn't give me an antibiotic even though they should have. Got infected after they glued it back together, guess I was lucky my car broke down on the way back to work that Monday, had I went in it would have been a pretty bad deal. My doctor was pissed and had to cut it back open and clean it out some more and leave a spot to allow it to drain.
Chris ... just a suggestion from an "Engineer" ... in this application, you have a more than ample supply of "Free Water". As your rightly comment, 150' if 18" Pipe displaces a large amount of "Earth". And said "Earth" isn't "Sand" so is not "Free Flowing" so on the back fill, you might want to consider use of a gas powered Water Pump to wet the initial layer of earth being used ... it will allow greater compaction of the material and be more cost efficient IMHO; run time on a water pump vs "Tamping" with your high dollar mini's seems to be a no brainer. Same for wetting down of the top layers to allow settling and no "hump" that the subsequent "Gardeners" are surely gonna bitch about unless you make another costly return to site to re-grade. Remember: "Gravity Works 24/7/365". Free advice but offered in sincere hopes of making your more profitable/competitive. Peace
That seemed a long way for what should have been a short journey. Why didn't they fit a cap end with a vent then pump foamed concrete down the manhole upto the new invert level. I meant to ask before, why was the original invert level so deep given the fall to the pond?
When he assessed the damage a few months ago, he thought maybe they had installed it and later hauled in a bunch of fill. I think he would be able to tell now after his digging. It would be interesting to know if that's still his theory.

A lot of what we see you doing is clearing trees or stumps. When you do that, you use the excavator bucket as a rake a lot. Have you thought of making a rake attachment for your bigger excavators? A couple chain attachment points on the top of the bucket, two six foot lengths of half inch chain, an eight foot piece of railroad iron, and 16 two foot lengths of half inch reibar bent through holes in the railroad iron would give you an enormous rake you could use for root or brush cleanup. You wouldn't even need to remove the bucket to attach it.
Was any1 else wondering why they put concrete in the catch basin? Seems to me the ideal thing to do would leave it as deep as it was so there is more room for dirt & debris. I used to work for a company for many years, cleaning out catch basins & the more room in those basins for dirt & debris the better...it saves the land owner from having it cleaned out all of the time.
Asking for a friend, but bo you think there wife would worry if I came home driving a digger instead of buying that expensive ring they promised her, as I said asking for a friend 🤣😂🤣
I wonder if a roller on the end would be good for compacting dirt and then I am thinking an old truck wheel/tyre and hub wouldn’t cost much with an old bucket welded on? (One of our ditching bucket mounts just got welded on the new cutter bar to make a mini digger hedge cutter.

@@spudgamer6049 trust me, even with air ride cabs............( Maybe I suffered too much abuse before these were common) Them trucks still beat you up pretty badly! I've been driving far too long! I don't meet the requirements to qualify for retirement, so I keep plugging along. Thankfully I have a fantastic massuest, & a great chiropractor. Between the both of them they put humpty dumpty back together again, TWICE per month. If not for their services, I doubt I'd still be able to work.
Small heads-up Chris, there's something funny with the audio in the last videos. Maybe depending on the way you hold the camera one of the microphones is blocked and cuts off one side of the stereo channels. It looked like he was using a flow fill(concrete without any aggregate)to fill the pipe itself with concrete. It looks like the point of the job was to abandon the failed pipe and manhole by filling the void with concrete.
I wonder why he didn't just dig up the old pipe, since he had to trench it anyway, then fill the old manhole with dirt? Seems quicker and cheaper to me.

Next time you lay it it's good practice to lay them with the green line up on all the pipes. Theres weep holes in the hdpe pipe
We call that flowable fill sand an a lot of portland road crossings an abandoned pipe
