    My son Spencer Klavan (no relation) joins me discuss his new book, How to Save the West: Ancient Wisdom for 5 Modern Crises. We tackle such pertinent questions as: how we all can save the world on a small scale, how the modern trend of transhumanism is making us deeply unhappy, how western philosophy defined most of the problems we face today, and how we can refer to ancient wisdom to solve these modern crises.

    Thank you for the interesting discussion.
    And I agree that the transgender movement is a terrible part of the modern crisis.
    But respectfully, I also say that what is called gay marriage is part of the crisis too. In the Western tradition, and including Christianity (and also perhaps the other Abrahamic religions) there can only ever be a marriage between a man and a woman.
    What has happened to enable us to claim that the wisdom of the last 3,000 years is wrong in relation to this fundamental institution - marriage?
    I would be grateful if the two Klavans could have a discussion about this point, and what distinguishes so-called gay marriage from what you both agree are deformities of Western culture.

      As I understand it, he's gay. Correct me if I'm wrong. If so, it invalidates the core source of his argument, which is ancient biblical wisdom. There seems to be a lot of gymnastics to avoid the problem of homosexuality.

    It's very reassuring to hear my own thoughts on the slide into transhumanist nihilism echoed. I fell very hard into this trap as a young man and now that I've managed to claw my way back up, as much as is possible, I find my society chasing my younger self downward into that pit. It frightens me that I ever thought this way and bless you both for raising the warning. Don't make the mistakes I made, eschewing family, tradition and children, and accept the worthless scrip that they offer in exchange for your soul.

      Why would you ask a practicing homosexual how to save the West?

    • @FaithInFocus
      @FaithInFocus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thegirlcancook07 well, a simple answer (to what I hope is a genuine question) is that Spencer’s sexuality has nothing to do with whether the wisdom of the West can help us in the present crises we face (which is the theme of his book). Whether I agree morally or not with his sexuality isn’t addressed in my interview, instead we talk about the issues he discusses in his book

    • @thegirlcancook07
      @thegirlcancook07 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FaithInFocus you're wrong, and I'm glad you're exposing yourself since your humanist perspective is clearly in direct contrast to Christian principle and Biblical wisdom. Spencer's sinful, contradictory lifestyle actually has EVERYTHING to do with how to (or how not to, in Spencer's case) save the West. Are you a sodomite as well? How does normalizing and legitimizing the erasure of women as a cornerstone in the traditional, heterosexual marital unit that tethers this country's traditional values and instead elevating the lgbt community as authoritative voices in the Conservstive movement help save the West?
