Made such an impact and created unbelievable pivotal moments and fantastic history in Our Great Clubs legacy. He was the perfect man for the manager's job and I couldn't have more respect and admiration for what he brought to us. Will always remember his commitment and style and the brilliant players he brought in. Was so sorry when he had to leave..HH💚🍀🇮🇪☘✊
The final was on my 30th birthday (21 years ago-wow!) & what a present it was to see my team in a european final. Pity about the result but the opposition going on to win the "Big Ears Cup" a year later shows what a credible team we were up against.
Irish Catholics pretty much all support Celtic but in a very passing sense. It's about one step up from liking the Boston Celtics. It's like a sort of cultural heirloom. However, there are, especially in Belfast and other parts of Ulster, a real hardcore of Celtic supporters that support no other team. Celtic are at least as popular as any English side in nationalist Belfast, perhaps even more so. Martin O'Neill was not one of them; neither was Neil Lennon. Brendan Rodgers certainly would have been more tuned into Celtic as a lad. Anton Rogan and his parents were real hardcore Celtic supporters, as an example of the latter. Surprisingly not Packie Bonner as there is a long tradition of Celtic support in Donegal.
