RIP Lennard Pearce This episode was filmed the day after Lennard Pearce’s real funeral where the cast of OFAH attended to pay their respects, so the grief is still fresh 🙏🏼 the ep is both heartbreaking & respectful but remains hilarious masterful writing

Grandad was a hard act to follow but let me tell you this, you will fall in love with Uncle Albert in the coming series! It takes a few episodes for the character to find his feet but when he did he became one of the most loved characters in OFAH. RIP Lennard Pearce and Buster Merryfield.

The transition was handled brilliantly. Grandad was a memorable and much-loved character. What contributed to Uncle Albert's character working so well was his back story. Both Del and Rodney as well as the audience had to get to know him.

Glad no one spoilt this episode for you as this was specially done I commemorate the late Leonard Pearce who admitted to performing on stage and met newcomer Hitler. He regrets never having a gun.

@anitahargreaves Some absolute tools tried their best to spoil this episode, luckily he had already seen it on his Patreon. Some people are unbelievably stupid. They think talking about future plotlines is somehow helpful.

We was all so sad to see grandad pass away. But we was also treated to a real special character called uncle Albert. You will truly love his presence in this series. He’s amazing and says and does some of the funniest things you can imagine. Also the way you got upset over learning grandad was dead , was the same reaction most of us probably had. It was such an upsetting episode

The one everyone has been waiting for. As was said in another comment, this was basically a real life thing, captured in a sitcom, so the raw emotions are real.

    R.I.P Lennard Pearce
Grandad passed away shortly after they started filming series 4 from a heart attack, the intended first episode of the series was "hole in one" Grandad had filmed some scenes of that with the rest of the cast but sadly he passed away, the writer John Sullivan had to adjust the series and write this episode in.
Grandad is referenced in the previous episode, a woman in the newsagents asks Del how Grandad was, in real life he had actually passed away but we got the impression that he was just in the hospital...obviously Grandad was a main character and deserved a full episode as a tribute.

Sadly we lost an iconic character but another iconic character is introduced in this episode.

First of all mate it's great to see so many fools and horses reactions from you and watching the episodes again with you it makes me proud to hear you get the true British cockney humour....Grandad was great but as a real fools and horses fan from London I can guarantee you that Uncle Albert will not let you down...I can't separate the two as my favourite. Please keep your only fools reviews up mate.

Nicholas and David are so good at the technique of half way through their lines, doing that thing where they are like “hang on” what did you just say lol. There must be an acting technical term for that I’m sure. Amazing timing they both have

This is an absolutely brilliant episode of only fools and horses, Lennard Pearce had just passed away in real life, and the opening scene in this episode was just after his real funeral so all cast members were still grieving for real which is why they were genuinely and visibly upset and grief stricken on screen. John Sullivan (the writer of the scripts) had to very quickly come up with a brand new script for this episode and he questioned how he could incorporate a funeral into a comedy while showing the upmost respect to Lennard's memory, which is where the joke about mistakenly burying the minister's hat thinking it was granddad's hat, when people laughed at that, everyone knew it was ok to laugh again. I think Lennard would have been very impressed with the way it was handled, it was very different having Buster Merryfield in the program taking his place and it took a little while to adapt to having uncle Albert rather than grandad, but ultimately, it was sheer genius to to have him in the show, it worked just as well with Buster as it did with Lennard, they will both be very missed, RIP Lennard and Buster

This was a very sad episode with Grandad passing away but the actor Lennard Pearce passed away IRL around 2 weeks before and both actors who play Del and Rodney attended his real funeral so you will notice that the acting was raw and real because not only did they lost a colleague but a very dear friend of theirs.
Grandad was an amazing character but Uncle Albert was an amazing replacement and the show gets even better from here
