Mate, I love the fact you’ve watched all these shows. So many swerve it because it’s such a long haul. But they’re so worth it, the funniest British sitcom ever. It still makes you laugh today, no matter how many times you watch it.
This was suppose to be the first episode for Series 4, there’s even some publicity photos of Del, Rodney and Grandad outside the court at the end, but of course, when Leonard Pearce passed away, the script had to be reshaped and re-filmed for Uncle Albert. Apparently, the only existing footage that made it into the episode from that original shoot was the over the shoulder shot of them looking down at Mike in the cellar. You can see the coat is clearly Grandad’s.
Glad you love this brilliant show but please remember that from now on all Xmas/one off specials must be watched in correct order or you will completely miss any following plots! Do that and you will love the rest of the series 😊
We all miss Grandad and yes what a wonderful and lovable character he was but Uncle Albert was a great replacement and equally as lovable - you will definitely love him as he will definitely grow on you. You said that the show is getting better and better, and you are totally right. Seasons 4 to 7 and the Christmas Trilogy 1996 have plenty of epic and memorable episodes to come. And watch out for Uncle Albert's "During The War....." stories lol
Why didn't he just tell Del the truth & take the offer? Plonker. It's another good example of Del's commitment to family. As soon as he learns it's for his headstone he switches & consoles him by calling him 'uncle Albert'. 😢
