The judge wrote a 30 page order on 2/15/24 explaining what this case was about and what the prosecution’s contentions were. He discussed the five crimes (by statute) that the prosecution claimed these false documents could have covered up.

@@acs5928 It doesn’t matter whether they are personal or presidential. Every president can take both when he leaves office. After awhile ( no time specified) the national archivist is supposed to make arrangements with the former president to turn over the records. If they can’t reach agreements, the archivist is supposed to have the AG file a civil lawsuit and the parties are supposed to work out before a judge what is personal and what is presidential. It is not supposed to be a criminal case. Unfortunately lawyers don’t read statutes, they read cases. But the statute is very clear.
I am a retired lawyer. I decided to read it. There is only one reported case on the statute.
