    If these graphs started from zero, you would notice that the difference is minimal. That's clearly a manipulation.

    • @sevendust62
      @sevendust62 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The difference is not minimal at all. Let's consider wet braking, 38.10 meters vs 45.80 meters. That's a difference of more than 7 meters, or about 1.5 car lengths. That's the difference between avoiding a collision with a few feet to spare, versus crashing into them hard enough to do serious damage or injury.
      It's also a difference of 30%. The budget tire takes 30% more distance to stop.
      In order to compensate for a braking distance that is about 30%, the driver would have to always drive about 10% slower. Suppose you're on a road with a speed limit of 48 kmh. You would have to limit your speed to about 43 kmh - 10% below the speed limit - in order to remain safe. Of course, in the rain, you're probably already driving below the speed limit, but on budget tires, you'd have to drop your speed another 10% on top of that. So let's say the premium tire can be safely driven at 27 khm in the rain on a 48 kmh road. (Driving at 2/3 the speed limit in the rain.) Then the budget tire would have to be 10% below that, or about 24 khm. So basically, in the rain, the budget tire can only be driven at half the speed limit.
      (Braking distance is proportional to velocity squared. A small increase in velocity causes a large increase in braking distance. So to decrease braking distance by a certain amount, the decrease in velocity doesn't have to be as good.)
      (Force = Mass * Velocity^2. If we normalize mass to equal 1 unit, and assume that braking distance is a measure of the car's force, then we have Braking = Velocity^2. Expressed as a ratio, Braking1/Braking2 = (Velocity1/Velocity2)^2. Thus, Velocity1/Velocity2 = sqrt(Braking1/Braking2). Then, Velocity1/Velocity = sqrt(38.10/45.80) = 0.91. Thus, the velocity would have to be reduced to 91% of the speed limit - or close to 10% below the speed limit - in order to remain safe.)

    on my 3rd set of efficient grips, Toyo Proxes were my last (great) tyres but didn`t suit my Honda hatch for some reason? the Goodyears are rock solid, great grip & good mileage, not cheap, but for me, worth it!

      I would say the braking is much better and driving 70mph on the motorway is much smoother. Less tyre noise and a lot less wheel bounce when driving over bumps.

    Just bought the goodyears 65 euro a tyre. Not bad for one of the best tyres out there for a normal car.

    Does EfficientGrip 2 have a rim protector on the side in 225 45 R17 size? I can't find that info anywhere.
    I have another question if you could answer, please... On my other car I have Vector 4 seasons gen 2 and I'm very satisfied with them, but they look much wider than the Crossclimate I had earlier in the same size 235 55 R17, they look quite bloated and the pressure is the same. Are the Goodyear tyres a bit wider than tyres from other manufactures? The same rims, the same size, load and speed index but they look too wide on the rim, I'm confused... previous tyres have had softer sidewall than Gen2.

    • @GoodyearTyresUK
      @GoodyearTyresUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Damir, Yes the EfficientGrip Performance 2 has rim protection in this size, you can find this on our website here: www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/tires/efficientgrip_performance2/225-45-17-91-W-5452000682604.html
      With regards to your Vector 4Seasons Gen-2's, could you send please forward this information along with any supporting images of the tyres to our Technical Team at tyre.techuk@goodyear.com - they are best placed to advise you on this, thanks, Kat

      However they have harmonic ressonance & hard to balance.

    Does this dude work for Goodyear or do they get kickbacks from Goodyear ??? There is Goodyear branding every where on signs even where the number plate goes. I take this so called review with a grain of salt as I feel that the results might just be rigged in the Goodyears favor There also is no mention the the Goodyear is probably 150% more expensive than the Goodride . I have Goodride 225/40/18 92W just on mr astra RSV and they are great.

      Tyre reviews is very adamant on that their reviews are based on their own research. So I would trust them. Good ride is a horrible tyre and i would never buy them again. I learnt my lesson. You get what you pay for. There’s no free lunch etc.

      The same 90% of drivers also don't slow down enough for potential hazards, text and drive, chat on the phone, apply makeup... Good tyres can be the difference between stopping when that deer runs out in front of you at night and having a big crash.

      And in fact I've had that happen, at highway speed... heavy braking, hard swerve, missed by maybe 2 inches. Not a deer though, a kangaroo... but they get big!
      6 month old Kumho tyres on a good vehicle were the difference between a major smash and just an elevated heart rate, lol. 😎👍

      I am driving for 24 years and nowadays only choosing cheap no-name brands from Asia. Respect speed limits, keep the proper distance and you will be just fine. No need for expensive top brands. The average driver will not feel any difference. The only difference is the money in your pocket left after the purchase of the cheap tires. I do not do any night driving by default, not for personal or company needs. That eliminates all wild animal potential night accidents.

    • @WRXMK
      @WRXMK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The same drivers you're on about usually don't care enough about driving. They tend to use their phone whilst driving, tailgate, not concentrate from time to time etc. This is why you need at least mid range tyres. They have better contact with the road, generating more traction and therefore reduce your stopping distance. Chinese tyres can be alright, but in my experience they squeel around corners and increase braking distances.
