In this week’s episode we welcome guests, Ashley Nichole + Taryne Renee of Unsolicited Advice podcast and chat about the struggles of the “protective friend” vs. the “friend that gets a new boo thang”, how to have productive conversations, and what it feels like to mourn the loss of a friendship. Friendships go through ebbs and flows, sometimes they require space and other times they require hard conversations even if that means (gently) cornering your conflict avoidant friends. After all, friendship love languages are just as important as romantic ones.

I feel like Ashley prioritizes relationship over friendship but taryn equally prioritizes both. It’s a personality thing, not a reflection of the amount of love thing.
you must’ve missed the fact this is ash’s first serious relationship in their 10 years of friendship. that’s a hard thing to balance a new love and your friend love. she’s trying her best but it’s her fire time

I’ve been watching Alisha for 10 years now and I’ve always felt very similar to her but this episode really sealed the deal. Between relationships with your older sister and wanting to be more connected to being the chronically single friend, Alisha thank you for sharing your stories they help me feel so seen
Omg Ash worded out what I could never pinpoint! I was also raised in a family where sex and relationships weren't talked about, and I never had a relationship with my sister such that I could communicate these things and to date I still hid many things!!!! Unlearning to be that way is so difficult

Honestly this is the only podcast / remi & alisha are the few influencers i really keep up with still and I think it’s genuinely because they remain relatable in the way they talk about their relationships. You guys put so much into your relationships, your friendships, your constant enthusiasm to strengthen and invest in your relationships is so so real. So I’m still kinda new to the ash and Taryne side of things BUT, I also have thyroid cancer, and hearing how it affected things for you guys is so validating for me. I was living with my roommate, we were BEST FRIENDS, did everything together. She then got a partner and things started to change and it was SO hard for me to navigate. I ended up moving out without saying a word, and we still don’t talk. And i still think about it at least on a weekly basis and am so sad about it still, and it’s been 5.5 years
Damn I knew I was like Alisha but the whole “don’t want to look dumb” really hit the nail on the coffin for me love love love this ep I HAD A REVELATION as well lol

I been on both sides… I was the only single friend and then I became the friend who got into a great relationship… however I never felt some type of way because I just knew it was a honeymoon phase. And I couldn’t wait to hear about it. I didn’t really mind them dipping out. But I loved the open conversation I also had with my besties too because we understood each other.
Being a cancer is crazy. We LOVEEEEE with passion and we forgive so fast because we understand and trust. Love you gurls. ❤

I love Taryn's insight on everything! I relate so much to her and Ash's situation. I was going through the depths of hell mental health stuff for like 6 months. Crying everyday and in such a dark place. I didnt even leave the house. I needed my sister who my best friend. She wasnt there for me hardly ever. Were good now but damn I was so hurt and betrayed by her. You think the person you love and are closest in the world to would be there for you. 🥺 i feel Taryn's pain. ALSO LOVE THE LONGER EPISODE!!!!!❤🙌

loved this episode so much! currently going through the same thing - my best friend and I got into serious relationships not too far apart from each other, graduated college, and started regular 9-5 jobs. it's weird growing up so quickly and living individual lives when we used to hang out literally everyday. this helped me a lot!!
