My 11 year old German Shephersd suffered with Degenerative Myelopathy for 1.5 years, they put it down as arthritis only, weakness in his hind legs, incontinence, not able to excercise as much as the vet told me to. I knew my baby boy and knew he couldn't do what the vet required. He was in so much pain due to mis-diagnosis as the pain relief was not enough, the pain medication also made his chronic kidney disease worse. Eventually, 2 days ago, his hind legs were paralysed and he was crying. We took him to the emergency animal hospital who then explained that he would never recover and was in so much pain, so we had to part. Hardest decision for me in my life but at the same time easy as I was thinking of my baby boy. He went so peacefully thanks to the vet hospital who couldn't do enough for my baby . I love how some fur babies can overcome these difficulties and am so happy for these guys, I just wish my boy could have been one of them. Love you, my baby boy Troy.
They're all so adorable. So glad to see there are people who maintain hope and help their animals through these injuries. There's currently a stray cat in my backyard whose legs are paralyzed and I'm waiting for the right time to trap him and take him to the vet. It breaks my heart seeing him drag himself around, I hope he makes a full recovery.
My dog has intervertebral disc disease and yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of his emergency spinal surgery. He has recovered well and regained all use of his hind limbs but it was daunting to think that this could have been him. He is doing better than anyone thought he would considering when he ruptured 2 discs he lost all ability to move and feel from midback down. He still has some weakness and wobbles when he walks but he is back to all of his usual activities (except for jumping as that is what causes strain on his discs and could cause him to rupture another one)
$7k for spinal surgery on my basset hound due to ruptured discs as well...but 9 months on she's gone from paralyzed to running. Just no more couches or stairs.
My dog just got hit by a car yesterday and they’re doing the spinal surgery like right now. I’m really hoping she can run around again, but just in case, I’m doing my research so I can give her the best life there is to live as a paraplegic.

I love how Ralphie (sp?) holds on to his squeaky toy during the whole water exercise! Too cute! They’re all cute and adorable!
Thank you for making this. My cat is quadraplegic, but happy and pain-free.

Lol I know this was a year ago but I just have to ask, did things go alright with that stray cat with the paralyzed legs??
