This is our third day in California and my sixth day on the road. It has been an experience to say the least. At this point I'm ready to be home while at the same time itching to road trip more back roads and small towns. This trip has been very tiring but very worth the drive.
I hope you enjoyed what little educational nuggets I was able to share as well as the scenery. It took me hours to find the still shots. I took them on a camera that I didn't even remember taking out of my camera bag. That's how tired I was. I shot two days on a Nikon that I didn't even remember unpacking. Haha
The music is Virginia Highway - Tigerblood Jewel from Epidemic Sound

That retired USAF base is where both of my sons were born, before the base was shut down. And the building with the boats parked next to it was where my LASER business was located for a while. I really got a chuckle when I saw that. Thanks for the video and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

Really do appreciate you taking us along on this trip--the scenery alone was worth it, but the process of moving the bees around and hearing the "mad cow" story was epic! Many parts of California really are drop-dead gorgeous, and lots of great people there.

I'm a city boy, well, a suburban one, and I know that (1) you don't piss them off (they're bigger than you!), and (2) they're curious. One time, I'm driving from work and I see Oreo cows. I went over to them. They looked at me to see what I was up to. Once they saw I wasn't doing anything they cared about, they went back to grazing.
OTOH, one time I was biking on a trail and encountered a calf in a fenced field maybe 100' from me. It looked at me, I looked at it. Then it turned and mooed a few times. A few minutes later, some adults appeared at a fast walk and looked at me. I got the general impression I was welcome to mooove along.
Then again, a field of calves acted like big puppies.

Hi Rooster! I live near Valencia Spain and have a very small orchard (55 trees orange, mandarin, pomegranate, apple, peach, plums and persimmon) our orchard sounds like a race track in the spring, all the flowers are in bloom on the trees and the bees do a fantastic job of pollinating the trees.. we've been here 16 years and this year for the first time ever, had a swarm fly right over my head, I heard them coming. The noise was something else! They settled on the trees but within half an hour, they took off and headed to our neighbours! Luckily, he doesn't live here full time like us, never saw the Bees after that, they didn't stay next door either. I used to be terrified of Bees and wasps after being stung when I was a small girl of 5, but living here amongst them I now can pick up a Bee, wasps I steer clear of!! I love your videos, I think they've helped me a lot, learning about them. Thanks!!
One other thing, didn't they tell you never to be near cows with calves? They are Very protective of their calves and are known to have hurt, even killed people who've been walking their dogs or just walking and gone into a field with cows and their babies and found themselves being kicked and trampled to death by them. Take great care!!! Sending love from my family to yours. Chez in Lliria Valencia Spain xx

There's a saying, there's not enough sugar for the scent...
Seems like alot of infrastructure, is the money that good?
But, pretty scenery and loads of fun and work with great new friends.

2 things...one, you’re right about the people running this state. And two, I know exactly the road you were on when the broker was on the phone.

I hate falling off of stuff too. The Mexicans call me big bird. I fell moving stuff once, carrying a portion of a big tent. I told the boss I was alright and that I flew well but landed poorly. Now it’s big bird.

I lay heavy odds you could do that old mean cow in with a knife and a fork a couple of times on a PLATE! Somebody needs to eat that thing after the bacon taste buds get back to normal. Prayers for Pop and yall get some too. GBWYall! (Us'ns) here in the hills.

You guys were having a good old time with them cows. Mad cow is right. Sounds like that black one had ya in his sights. I grew up with horses and learned quickly with one of them. Speak softly and carry a big stick. When ya pull that baby out they usually put their ears back up and go into friendly mode. Thankfully I’ve never needed to swing that bugger. When they needed intimidating that sure did the trick. Most horses are pretty timid. I’m sure cows can be the same. It only takes one bad apple to put you on guard.

Did you by chance run into a gentleman by the name Will Olsen from Spokane? Great guy and beekeeper.
    He had bees on almonds.

Always at least one crazy cow in a herd. Grew up around cows and horses. The horses will eat your paint. Lol
