Elegoo, we need you guys to step up and do a multi color. Cmon.
That would be cool. Seems like everyone is going down that route, anycubic, creality, prusa.
1:40 - You CANNOT install the filament holder on the side of the machine when waiting for the auto calibration. The front screen specifically states, "Do not touch the printer during self-checking." (1:35) It's taking accelerometer measurements based on what it's doing and it assumes you aren't applying external forces to the printer. I get that you were probably installing the spool holder while the bed was heating and not while it was doing input shaping, but it's bad advice to give people who may not know when it's OK to ignore the rules. It's best to let it do its thing and not touch it for 25 minutes as Elegoo recommends.
I hate that almost all 3D printer companies re-skin an open source slicer to make a soon-to-be-abandoned slicer specific for their new printer when they should provide good thoroughly tested profiles for OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer. At least Elegoo provided good profiles for Elegoo filaments in Elegoo Slicer, that someone will hopefully use to make good profiles for PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer.
I wonder why they decided to go with the exact same build size as Bambu lab. Increasing it by at least by 1-2 cm would be a tempting plus.
That would make them stand out. I think the form factor of 256cubbed is the sweet spot for a personal use 3D printer. If you go any further it can be hard to find a spot for it to fit in your office.
Maybe Elegoo marketing decided they wanted people directly comparing the Centauri to the X1C. That's certainly the instructions they gave reviewers when passing out the free printers. If they made the Centauri a bit larger than the X1C, people might start comparing it to other printers in the $500 price range and find it severely lacking compared to the 350 x 350 x 345 SV08 which has 2.5 times the build volume for the same price.
@ You're right they did tell us to directly compare it to the X1C but I think a larger build volume than the X1C would have been a good differentiating feature and something worth talking about.
@@3DPrintStuff - I completely agree. Other manufacturers developed Bambu competing products and did try to one up Bambu with a larger build volume, and that's clearly something that the market values and Bambu has been slow to deliver, although should be releasing soon. Elegoo puts a double smiley face in the comparison chart when they have a 60W nozzle heater compared to the 40W heater that Bambu uses, so it looks like they'd want to have a double smiley for a 300x300 build plate next to Bambu's 256x256 build plate. Another 44 mm in X and Y wouldn't cost them much and would provide real value to their customers and a legitimate marketing advantage. Maybe they figured Creality already did that? It's OK to be 2.5 years late to the Bambu party, but it's not cool to crash the Creality party a year late?
Awesome review. Very informative. 👍
Thanks
8gb emmc really doesn't deserve a double smiley face. Lol. I can pick up 32gb emmc's for dirt cheap.
they are probably sending these out to be reviewed and “tested” so hopefully when full production starts all the bugs will fixed.
looking forward to a future ams if they went as far to put in a turd evacuator.
i like my N4P but this may be it’s replacement if this bodes well after 7 months on the market at full production.
mines wont turn on. Is there a voltage switch from 220 to 110v? I cant find it.
Hey love your stuff. I don't see a voltage switch, the nameplate says rated for 100-240 so there shouldn't need to be a switch. Unplug the power cord and remove the fuse holder and check to see if they installed the fuse or if the fuse is blown.
@@3DPrintStuff thank you. the fuse is good. I will buy a new one just incase.
Is it much noisier than p1s?
I don’t have a P1S but I do have an X1C and I’d say they’re pretty similar.
@3DPrintStuff sorry, I thought you have. But I think x1c is fair comparison too.
No AMS?
No AMS
q1 pro over this still, unfortunately.
"Cenauri Carbon" is a misleading name for that 3d printer hince no carbon rods been used for the x axis!!!
I've heard people say that "carbon" refers to the ability to print carbon fiber materials with a steel nozzle, high nozzle temperature, high temperature bed and passive chamber heating, but people say a lot of things on the internet. Personally, I'd rather have stainless linear rods and slightly larger stepper motors to achieve the same speed, to minimize wear and possible maintenance issues.
Carbon? How original. These are all basically white label printers at this point 🤮
