    1. Use a pre-poo (pre conditioner) before washing your hair
    2. Sulfate free shampoo
    3. No heavy creams/products on your scalp
    4. Clarifying shampoo from time to time
    5. Scalp treatments
    6. Only detangle your hair with conditioner in it
    7. Get a detangling brush (Tangle Teezer) (EZ Detangler)
    8. Deep condition at least once a week
    9. Use a leave in conditioner after washing your hair
    10. Brush/detangle your hair in the same direction you are going to style it in
    11. Don't try defining your hair all the time
    12. When drying your hair, use a micro fiber towl
    13. Protective hair styles!
    14. Sleep with a satin pillow case or a satin bonnet
    15. Satin hair accessories
    16. Do not bleach your hair!!!!
    (Please!)
    17. No heat. It's ok to straighten from time to time but limit it to about 2-4x a year.
    18. Eat healthy
    19. Trim your hair! It will keep your ends healthy. When your ends are unhealthy, they will break.
    20. Don't pull your hair up tight.

You can still bleach your hair, just do a mask immediately after you bleach it, unless you're coloring it, in which case do it right after. It's a lot easier to keep it healthy if you bleach it when it's short and then just keep up with your roots

I completely get number ten. I've tried brushing and styling my 3b/3c hair forward before and it has led to so much tangling 😭 I see so many type 2 and 3a curlies do it and have great voluminous results but sadly I've had to learn that it's just not for me.
And to whoever reading this I'm wishing you long healthy hair this year 💕

U kno since my curly hair journey when I decided I had enough always putting my curly 3c hair In pony tails and letting it down all throughout child hood. Although I had bad heat damage and very obvious heat damaged curls. I remember 8th year I had it down and it would be puffy but people liked it. It was dry n brittle and I remember if I had it down I ALWAYS had to finger coil every strand. Then TH-cam helped, I looked up lots of starter products using gel, leave-ins, n lastly the denim brush (I did also use the defuser but ended up stop using it after a month). Fast forward the summer time though 9th grade its improved except I rarly finger coiled! Which is a game changer, the brush helped a lot along with finger coiling it forced my hair to take that shape becoming less looser to get rid of the damage. All I had to do was brush my hair put products and scrunch (I always had the wet look I mean it isn't a bad thing but I rarely had volume) but I never let my front hairs down it was and still is always in some sort of style (short and damage from straighten it 😬 + it's frizzy n I don't like hair on my face it's uncomfortable) but now fast forward 10th grade (currently) it wasn't until a couple months ago I realized I don't need the denim brush :) finally healthy all I use now is a wide comb it's a pain in wash days when my hair is all in nots but I thought I should share my hair journey, using a comb instead helped my hair grow longer even tho I originally used it bc I wanted more length then defined which is what the brush is used for!! I'm still learning and tryin to make only wash my hair on Sunday's and maintain it it's hard tho it wasn't long ago when I had to always drench it in water and reapplying products.

Someone said this wasted their time but babe, you could have changed the speed of the video to be faster??? No one made you watch this. Aside from that, thank you for your tips! Hard to find a deep conditioner that’s cruelty free and not priced for an arm and leg. As for people not wearing their hair up in a bun, it blows my mind. I hate having my hair out on my body and it potentially rubbing product all over me. That can cause breakouts. And I in general, feel like I can’t get a lot of stuff done with my hair in my face. The hair trimming is called the search and destroy method. So it’s not frequent trimming, but rather, hey this little piece of hair is not doing so good snip snip. Getting rid of dead weight.

I'm curious to know how much of your growth is based on your ethnicity and genetics.

There’s a lot of studies on it but basically Asian hair (East Asian) grows the fastest and African grows the slowest. I think it has more to do with your curl type which depends on race somewhat but there’s more research to be done

Hair that is straighter will appear longer then tightly curly or wavy hair. Tightly curly hair is more brittle, so it breaks off at the end more quickly. It's not so much that straighter hair grows faster but that curly hair looks shorter (because of its curl pattern) and breaks more at the end. If a curly and straight haired person both cut their hair at the same time, chances are they would both grow one inch at the same rate. The curly hair would look shorter however and over time would break more quickly at the end.

Does anyone know how to detect when your hair is splitting in curly hair? Like it might sound weird but I feel like I can only see split ends when my hair is straightened lol.

i search and destroy when my hair is in twists. honestly the best way to tell is kist feeling the hair. Feel your roots, really focus on the feeling, then run your fingers down the braids to the ends. If the ends feel significantly worse than the roots, it may be time to dust the hair or search and destroy the split ends.

The only link that is working is the Shea moisture coconut oil. Are there any products you recommend for 2C hair that does not like coconut products?
