My bf lived in one of these homes, I'm not sure which but if I tried hard enough I could probably figure it out. Not sure I want to though, to be honest. I feel sick to my stomach just looking at the poor peoples' homes who DID get hit. I'm so glad he survived and that he's with me. A tornado nearly hit his house just a few days ago, too. :( It was so scary watching the tornado come within 1/4 mile of his new home too.
This hit literally right across the lake from where we live. It’s a miracle we were spared. Praying for all that were affected. We have friends and church members who have lost everything.
Climate change is why Texas is getting these " strong , intense storms " . We hardly get F4/5 tornadoes ( With Jarrell 97 being the exception) and most our " weak twisters " usually don't stay on the ground that long anyway .
EF-3 is what's been reported in recent days. This part of Texas rarely gets anything over an EF-1 though (and generally even those only bounce around touching down here or there briefly... a large tornado that stays on the ground and runs for miles is extremely rare in this part of the state).
Please whatever y'all do, don't rebuild just like it was.... rebuild MUCH stronger than it was! IMO if you have to rebuild, rebuild stronger and better than before.... build structures that can survive a repeat of this disaster!!! Think this can't happen there again??? My house was flooded during Hurricane Harvey, then again May 7th 2019, then flooded again just as bad as Hurricane Harvey last September during TS Imelda (even though I had sealed tight the inside of my walls as I was rebuilding, the water still found ways back in and filled me up)! I'm not even in a Flood Hazard according to FEMA, I cannot fix my home anymore at this point I've realized even though it's still standing. So point is, this may not be a 1-off for your area, if another severe thunderstorm doesn't hit again a major hurricane will at some point SO BUILD STRONGER! I know there are (or were) building techniques that used poured concrete to construct domed homes that could survive hurricanes tornadoes even wildfires, I do not understand why nobody builds that way though... somebody needs to look into it!
Jan Griffiths here. I was in 2 tornadoes when I was a kid. Both parents at work. I was home for summer vacation from school. I lived in Dearborn Heights, MI at the time. Both tornadoes were F2s. Our house and over 200 others lost roofs, sheds, and lots of tree damage. Some people were injured, but no fatalities. One tornado was in 1967, the other in 1969. I live in northern AZ now.
Onalaska was not the only area that the tornado hit this day. Your coverage of the damage is a poor job. The pilot should have followed the path, not just this little area. Very disappointed in your station. My house was damaged and I would love to see just how close the tornado got to my house to rip part of my roof off. But can't cause your pilot didn't follow the path. Thanks a bunch for nothing tho.
This was the first tornado i chased. One hell of a storm
I was hit directly by this tornado
It’s devastating to see my good friend’s home/acreage in your video. I’m beyond grateful they survived.

My house was trashed i had to move my family will never be the same again.
My house was destroyed by this tornado with most my family members including me
Amazing how most of the damaged fragments of homes, remain close to the foundations or vicinity thereof. Some like they were sat on by a giant.
Pictures do no justice, you had to be there
Prayers for residents of Polk county, and canyon park
