@chrishong ❤❤❤ I loved the second and fourth portraits as it looked like 👍 more natural usually I think it comes out best when you recover them from mistakes and bring them back to life 😊😊 Love your videos
I'm sorry if this sounds weird but i always treat your videos like a lesson. I love watching you work like this, i always learn something, so i wanted to say thank you for making them!
I love the pink hair on you! I just brought out my alcohol markers not too long ago after not using them for a long time. They still intimidate me but seeing stuff like this makes me want to give them another go!
Ahhhhh I literally searched "Chris Hong alcohol markers" a couple days ago to give me some inspo to make the purchase of the ohuhu brush markers (I have the chisel ones but I wanted to try brush ones)... I got them today and have just finished swatching and arranging them all, and then you posted this!! My favourite was probably the first, but I have a soft spot for pastel styles that look like what bubblegum tastes like (very specific, I know). I loved them all though!! 🥰 Also, your pink hair is so cool!!
Thank you for the video and for the inspiration!! I loved the first portrait and the third one. The second one definitely needed that darker value at the end
Watching you create beautiful art has helped me get back into art myself. It’s helpful to read or hear where you think you could have done better. Reminds me that even the masters feel they have room to grow!
I agree with your about the fineliner. Your art is lovely no matter what, but I found that the dark black fineliner overpowers the rest of the drawing. Uni makes a light cool grey fineliner that adds detail without calling too much attention to itself, I’d like to see what you could do with that. Anyhow, great work, as always.
I love these vlogs so much! they really inspire me and I love how you talk about your art process, honest and raw with all it's fears and doubts and great teachings too 💞!
I always love these cafe vlogs! I have been saving this one for a couple of days for the perfect moment to give it a watch. My favorite portrait was the number two! Even in the beginning phases. But you pushing through really made it pop. :D
6:07 hello, again! So happy to see more lovely marker art. If you're concerned about the look of fineliners on your drawings, I'd suggest using colored inks instead of just black or blue. I like to add contrasting colors to my sketches-- red / orange ink on green shades, light blues on yellow or orange areas, and vice versa. It helps give definition without being so jarring and stark as black ink. Hope that helps! (also, does this cafe always play 2010 era hits? Feels like someone fould my old Zune, lol)
I don't drink coffee or eat pastries, but being able to walk in to hear Blur's "Song #2" would be completely unexpected but totally welcome!! ❤ Anyways, these studies look amazing, I am loving your colouring techniques so much!!!
What camera setup do you use in cafes? Like how do you mount it? I would feel so conspicuous lol. Also I didn't notice the shadow from the phone until you mentioned it.
I just use a goose-neck tripod that has a clamp mount thing. it doesn't always work sometimes since the ledge might be too wide for the clamp... I need to explore other options! It's very conspicuous but no one says anything to me about it lol
I have watched all of your café videos now. I find them so relaxing and inspiring, I went looking for similar content from other artists. There's plenty! Unfortunately, you've set the bar so high in every way, I have yet to find other videos that aren't boring and/or annoying. In most cases, the art is nowhere near yours. Or it's upside down. Or the video starts with a long story of why and how the video was made, instead of just getting started. I see now that when you notice the shadow cast by the camera, that is probably just one of many aspects that you consider in order to create pleasant videos. It's much appreciated
God I'd love to do portraits like you but i cant ever capture the likeness! Think i need to do more block ins >.< Love your metbod - much prefer it to the loomis head
I’m judging the cafe for its music choices. Haha. It would help if you put one ongoing tune over your video maybe, since the cuts make it even more distressing. I just switched the sound off and watched you draw in silence.
Imagine my surprise sitting down to draw at Dineen's and looking over to see these awesome portraits at the table next to me. Awesome work and video!
it was nice meeting you and Ben! hope you guys had a great drawing session :D
@@ChrisHongArt Oooh if you haven't been to De Mello in the Well yet, def worth checking out-gorgeous space!

Not weird! I’m happy to hear they are helpful in any way!😊

that's awesome haha I hope you enjoy playing around with them! :D
AWWWW YEAAAAA I LOVE THESE VLOGS!! And the marker portraits are good practice for figuring out the face planes, specially with the chisel tip!!
Thank you for the video and for the inspiration!! I loved the first portrait and the third one. The second one definitely needed that darker value at the end
Yes exactly, using the chisel tip forces me to think in terms of planes! Thank you for your kind words ❤
Слышу, что в конце сидели русскоговорящие ребята в кафе, смотрю как рисуют и подслушиваю диалог :D

Chris your creative realism is superb! You have a crazy technique!❤
I like the third one you drew, the blue undertone looks really nice 😃

I love these cafe vlogs!!
color combos for each portrait are so beautiful😍 i personally loved the third one the most - it looks so soft and ethereal🙌

My favorites are the two middle ones because I love the contrasts on them
Love the renderings and how you made all portraits using markers.

Guys what marker number is the brown one at 13:24
Inspiring
How can you move the marker so smoothly, I’ve been practicing using markers lately but I feel like I’m a kid learning to color 🥲
I honestly feel the same😅 it probably looks smooth or easy since I’ve edited a lot of the pauses in between for time!
Lovely portraits ☺️doesn’t the alcohol marker go through the paper ? Enjoyed watching you work 👍
It goes through to the backside of the paper but not the other page :)
đẹp quá 🎉

I was digging the music 😂 it was a fun vibe! I’ll prob do a mix of editing styles depending on the captured audio 🤷🏻♀️
Where do you go to grab references
mostly pinterest but wish I could find them elsewhere! feel like I keep seeing the same images over and over again on Pinterest
every thing on you is beautiful i love your eyes, your smile i want to see thing for you
