plot twist: the chemical has the a* algorithm implemented
Claudiu Mironescu the chemical is a paid actor
For those who don't get the joke, Google Maps used the A* algorithm to find the shortest routes
I love that I get the joke.
I watched an oddly high number of pathfinding videos so I got this one
Technically, it's just a brute force algorithm. But it uses multithreading, and each small group of molecules is its own processor, which is why it performs so well. The universe is effectively serving as a really efficient physics simulator.
To actually implement A*, the chemical would have to have some way to tell how physically distant it is from the finish. This could somehow be possible by emitting radiation from a point source at the end of the maze, so it would naturally follow the inverse square law in intensity. If this radiation could excite the chemical into spreading faster if it is closer, then an A*-like algorithm could technically be possible.
Use me as a "dissapointed he didnt have a big ass maze with many tubes and ways it can go" button

@@bladeoftheruinedking2543 (lenny)
"where ever you drop your acid." :)
Anyone else thought why the blue dye was red as a powder?
Lots of dyes change color when wet or in different concentrations. Fluorescein for instance is a dark red powder when pure, but it turns a vivid green/yellow when mixed in water, and also glows brightly under UV (it's primarily an ultraviolet dye for leak detection and that sort of thing). Chemistry doesn't always follow logic lol.
The same reason it turned back to orange when it reached the acid: the powder is an indicator!

6:36, For the city model, maybe traffic flow rate also be built into the model to calculate quickest “time” between two points. The traffic flow rate would be inversely proportional to the cross sectional area of each pathway? A two lane road with a lot of stop lights would be a wide path, and a divided highway would be a capillary tube.

The dye moves because acids and alcohols reacts each other.
Here, the alcohol moves from not only from starting point , but also from everywhere, this movement of the alcohol you used will pull the dye along with and drags towards the acid.
And so for that, the dye will move with the alcohol and reaches the acid concentrated area in shorter distance.
Finally, I know how Google Maps figures out the routes

The wolf on your shirt gets angry when you lean forward.
The gradient in the maze makes me think of the programming concept of anti-objects, which is one way to have the ghosts 'follow' Pacman, for example. When Pacman moves, he leaves a trail of sorts that fades over time, and the ghosts can follow that, moving toward a stronger part of the trail. Nice video.
