I like your idea of using themes. I am always at a loss when I sit down to my journal and I end up looking messy. Also, this way in the video helps me to practice a kind of routine so that I become comfortable. Then, I can move on to another routine of techniques. Thanks for the inspiration! Great lesson about the colour of the first mushrooms. All three were absolutely adorable. I think my favourite was the mushrooms (second colour). I also think the black background made the colours on all of them just pop!

Love Tuesdays and your mixed media series! I had to wait until I got home from work to watch today’s video. So... Just when I think I know what products I want to play with, you do something really cool that often makes me change my mind and/or alter my path! LOL ... I don’t have very many AALL & CREATE stamps but I do have a few including that wonderful Background Voices stamp set that I just got and want to use soon. Tonight’s project though is actually going to be trying different color combos using Paper Artsy Fresco Paints and my new Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Brayer. I cut some pages using the Art by Marlene square journal die and thought it would be a great reference resource for how various colors look together as well as the fun of creating them. Last weekend I played with Tim Holtz Distress products and created a dozen 3x4 backgrounds (front & back) then made myself start using some of Tim’s ephemera I’ve been collecting and not using - I completed 4 of them so far... I find it more difficult to be abstract rather than creating little scenes. My 4x6 flower project (in a large 21 not 24 opening picture frame) is still in the planning stage - I have most of the stamps & dies laid out on it but haven’t decided on how I’m going to do the backgrounds and I want it to be cohesive so I haven’t started on the individual pieces yet... but I will =) ... Although it’s a struggle to step outside of my comfort zone I’m always glad when I’ve completed something that stretched me although I wish I could enjoy the process more! I use my Levenger CIRCA punch (similar to the Happy Planner punch but with slightly larger notches so pages turn easier on them) all the time for both Art Journals and work/craft/life notebooks. It would be great if you did a video on another technique to show others who might not have a punch how to simulate the concept. I love what you do, the sound of your voice, and your friendly personality that emanates in every video you do... you could read a dictionary and I’d enjoy it! I've been thinking about framing my 6 x 6 pages in an 8 x 8 frame, and wasn't sure how I was going to keep them centered. Now I know! My 6 x 6 pages are already pushed, but that doesn't bother me. And I can rotate them in and out of frames and into journal bindings with discs. Win, win!
