Aeris is ANGRY at Zack ALSO because Hojo/Shinra got in the way of there relationship. This is the Real point of the (he left me, why not talk to DEAD Him with ancients powers, suspense). In my game the wheel fell off the wagon which explained why she has no wagon in 7. I didn't even comprehend you can make a wagon she actually likes.
You get the better parts by doing little side quests and missions instead of just finding the parts on the ground

I think its pretty obvious that it never was about wanting a nicer wagon but finding an excuse to spend more time together with Zack. Working on a new wagon was probably Aeriths idea of having a date.

CC retconned a lot, even Zack and Areiths first meeting. She says in the OG that they met when she was selling flowers ABOVE the plates. The directors even confirmed they copied cloud and Aeriths meeting for CC.
Retconned a lot is perhaps excessive. Retcon suggest that they rewrote a prior history. They didnt really do that, they added to the history.

@lotus2001 it depends on the meaning your taking for retcon. There are two meanings. Where you think it devalues it I find it enhances it. Different strokes for different folks. Where zack helps aerith in some ways, now aerith helps cloud in some ways.
I dont see it as objectively bad, they expanded it. Some people will dislike the expansion of the story, some people will like it. They didn't change the actual OG story, they added new context. Which changes the meaning of the scenes not the scenes themselves. If that makes sense?
@@nathanscott2871 I know this is a little late but I just think them completely copying scenes from OG Cloud and Aerith to make some cheap "aha" moments really left a terrible taste in my mouth.
@@lotus2001Wouldn't really say it devalues their meeting as much as it adds to what everyone already knew, even back in 97-98 when the OG came out: Her intital intrest in Cloud steamed from him reminding her of Zack. Despite the two being completly different.
Cloud is an introvert, Zacks an extrovert, Cloud is insecure and struggles with his emotions, while Zack is confident, carefree and has no trouble at all expressing his feelings.
Cloud would have Tifa throw herself at him if he just told her he likes her, but he doesn't. Zack asked Aerith out on a date 20 seconds after meeting her :P

I played the OG game, but honestly I loved CC. It broke me so much because Aerith was very young when she met Zack, and I get the feeling Zack was the first nice and decent person she ever met. People always tried to use because of her Cetra blood, and was pushed to be alone, but Zack was actually nice to her.
On top of that, Zack becomes this extremely likable character whose inevitable ending makes you not want to end the game, and you get the Sephiroth tragedy. At least, to me, CC didn't ruin Aerith or anyone, it just made the past canon events just sadder and more tragic.
Plus, yeah it was just a flower wagon.

The backstory reveal for Garnet is one of my favorite bits, because people tend to have the same reaction of “oh, that’s why she doesn’t look like Brahne” . Only for the game to then reveal that NO she also had a daughter that looked just like Garnet!

I strongly disagree with most of the comments here. For me, CC (and Reunion) is a great game, and complements Remake wonderfully. Some of the VA feels a bit underdone, but that's fine. The story is wonderful and I don't think any of the characters are short-changed.

Honestly, Crisis Core is basically the worst (canon) version of Aerith. She's so damn wooden.
Also, didn't she originally say he was the first guy she loved and Cloud asked if they were "serious"? Makes more sense with Crisis Core in mind that way. She loved him, but they never had a super serious relationship.
Crisis Core made her way less irritating than the original game with its iffy translation (my friend and I, who played it when we were like ten, were cheering when she died lol. She was fucking useless and grating in the og game, and I'll never understand how people liked Aeris in that one but hated Ashley in RE4. They're literally the same level of obnoxious). She definitely wasn't perfect, but I was finally willing to give the character a chance after playing CC

My interpretation is that Zack and Aerith technically never made it official. Sure, they definitely like each other, but Zack is just some guy that's passing through the area that never end up returning 😭
I believe they hung out and chatted for 2 years. Whilst aerith states that she loved zack. The actions of zack suggests that he loved aerith.
They were meeting each other and chatting over the 2 years. However we only see 3 of these occasions.
Also aerith did sleep with zack as she says that he talks in his sleep.

As a player who play OG version in that time no other version at all. Zack is just the person Who Aerith just talk about in few sentence and their love is already over but after succesful of VII they made Crisis core (I really believe Square just made story after that , CC was not in the beginning plan) and it make Original story mess It's have many scene like Zack did this kind of scene before Cloud (in reality Cloud Scene is Original for the Player Who play Original ver.) that's why I understand Whom don't believe in Zerith like Do you really believe before Zack fight with Sephiroth they have another character stopping time and fight with SPR before.....for me NO! .But don't get me wrong I like ZACK Character but also feel a bit strange with Zerith
@@vicmon1858 they definitely did add his story after, but I find it helps flesh out the narrative of the world. About the heroes before cloud and aerith. There is never just one group of heroes. Zack wasn't really that much of a hero, even with his own game.
I very much like the idea that aerith loved before cloud and zacks personality suits her more, like I have very little understanding of what makes cloud attractive personality wise (in the early stages of the game).

I honestly thought the same thing after playing Crisis Core for the first time when Reunion came out.
Aerith was my favorite character from Remake (I’ve never played the original). So when I saw how they presented her in CC I was extremely disappointed. They made her come off like some kind of gold digging user, and her and Zack’s “relationship” felt extremely forced and just weird and unnatural.
The main thing that bothered me back in the day for crisis core was them reusing how cloud and aerith met with the roof for zack. That was just so lazy lmao

I know Zack’s presence is iconic for the role of Cloud in the original, but to be honest. I feel like they retconned quite a bit in Crisis Core. But I’ve never played the original, so maybe I’m missing something.
But I absolutely love Remake and can’t wait for Rebirth. The wait for a new trailer is absolutely killing me. It takes up the vast majority of my time off. Where I just refresh google in hopes that they’ll randomly drop a trailer, or at least tell us when we can expect something.

CC just makes him come off as the Bootleg Zack that he thought he was. Oh, Zack has his own train mission in Midgar. Oh, Zack already fell through the church the exact same way. Oh, Zack met Aerith and helps her sell flowers. Zack even has his own Zack with Angeal. Sephiroth has his own Sephiroth with Genesis. Cloud is just some klepto who took a sword that belonged to his buddy's mentor that the mentor's mom unalived herself with(?). It's too much.

Aerith never once said anything about looking for Zack; it's strongly implied through her knowing about Elmyra's husband dying that she would have known about Zack as well. The closest is in Gongaga she talks about how "it's all in the past now", she was a bit worried because he went missing on the job, but then continues "He loved women, a real lady's man. He probably found someone else..."
If you pick "Poor guy", she responds "I don't really mind that I haven't heard from him. But I feel for his parents." (Other option, she just teases Cloud for being jealous).
So yeah, Zack ghosted her and then died. Cloud came along claiming to be First Class (Despite not being, hence her confusion), and acting weirdly like Zack with random shy dorky moments. Later she can say lines like "I want to meet the real you" during a couple intimate scenes, and one of the Ultimanias confirms outright she knew about the false personality thing. So Cloud wasn't a replacement.

It's mega obvious the parallel was on purpose because the 2nd game (a prequel) came way after the original.
They clear things up and explain she was specifically waiting for Zack,
in crisis core she wrote him letters for over a year waiting for him to take her out on a date again.
Aris was never gonna fall in love with Cloud, she was in love with Zack, they even up together in the mako stream in the movie [Advent Children].

As for Cloud and Aerith: They were straight up called lovers in On the Way to a Smile during the events of disc 1. You can read from Cloud's POV of being attracted her and the date with her being what you 'if you play the game normally' in Final Fantasy dismantled. In the 25th Anniversary Ultimania, Cloud must use the choice that he "Hopes Aerith likes him" to Marlene because she says "I won't tell Tifa!" after telling Cloud about her observing Aerith's feelings for Cloud. And on and on. Basically, it's not up for dispute on what SE runs with as 'canon' during that time of the compilation.
It mirrors the tragedy of her and Cloud's relationship, except he couldn't move on and appreciate the loved ones still alive until the end of AC. (Not moving on is spelled out by Word of God and On The Way To A Smile, Tifa's story.)
Fun fact: In a Tales of Two Pasts, Tifa and Cloud spoke only 2-3 times as children, including the promise. She avoided him and thought he was a weird kid and in general he and his mom were isolated; them being actually close childhood friends was also part of his false memories of being a cool dude.
I loved this mod for FF7 but really wished they picked any other VA for Cloud. Like.. literally anyone else in the world 😂

I honestly feel like she's not really that amazing of a person, she's human yeah but Zack is godlike character, this man is the best, always optimistic, never back down, never forget, keeps moving on trying to protect what he loves. Even if Aerith never wakes up, he'll never leave her side. Aerith... Honestly quickly gave up on him, she just wrote letters and then was like "Oh well", I know it ain't that simple but still... Zack never would have forgotten and waited for her, or come and get her no matter the cost.

@@shury1751 I've read from a native Japanese who has played both the English and Japanese that the Remake did a great job overall translating the _meaning_ but not necessarily everything word for word from Japanese to English because some expressions/connotations don't translate as easily across cultures and languages with a literal translation but the commenter said it was about 98% accurate (again with the meaning). I'm currently replaying Remake in Japanese but unfortunately the only subtitles they have are still the ones that follow the dub and not a direct sub. Square rally should do that for upcoming parts of the Remake.

It was more, that she didn't know who Aerith was, and wasn't sure if she could be trusted. The English version made it out to be as if Tifa was jealous of Aerith. So yeah, there's changes in meanings...

VA is actually horrendous.
The wagon was literally Aeriths attempt to spend time with Zack. It was also our first acted interpretation of her and it was perfect. Get lost with that title; can't even appreciate the game in vanilla anyway. 😂
She was weird in crisis core and the wagons were tedious.
I never thought much of Zack in og game he was mostly a missable cutscene. I changed my mind about him after playing cc remake but aerith was a fail in it. And it was hack and slash. All the interesting stuff of him building friendships with other characters gets glossed overor implied. But w got evry time someone said loveless😂..
Crisis Core ruined a lot of things, but nobody played it so it doesn't matter

Aerith trying to "forget" about Zack is just disappointing. Through my gameplay in crisis core and FF7, I concluded that Zack is the Character who most suffered. He's my inspiration.
That's because you have a bias towards the character you like. People move on from break ups within a year, let alone 4 years. It's not like something that special is going on between them to hold her from moving on, especially when years have passed. No one cries over some relationship that already ended 4 years unless they got some mental issues.

This is a serious observation of the human teenage girlness of aerith. Cc was serious character building in aerith in that she wasn't an rpg girl that bounced from blue eyed boy to blue eyed Boi. Instead poorly used emotionally by the older guy who gave her a TON of attention and stuff but in the end made it clear she wasn't the priority. In the end Nojima is a genius 👏
