MS has made the best Mirage no contest. I absolutely adore what Magic Square are doing with their 2.0 range. Complex engineering, beautiful G1 cartoon looks that can't be beat, and they're trying to complete the Ark crew from season 1 - which is exactly what I wanted. Honestly, that NA Mirage looks pretty awful in comparison and it's WAAAY too short even for NA scale.
Great comparison review! My Money is always on Newage! I agree they use better material and paint. I've also noticed they scale in both modes better with themselves. I try to only buy the EX(G1 Toy deco) versions of each figure.
I suppose it depends on what style you want. MS shoots for cartoon accuracy and has been killing it big time recently. NA seems to go for the toy look and they have better paint jobs. I like them both.
Ya this was my analysis as well. Like based on NA's Mirage here I would never use it my collection. He should be smaller than giant bots but bigger than smaller bots and the NA version is crazy small, too small to use.
I was thinking about getting NA Mirage as my first NA bot, since it's a decent-ish price. Sure, it won't fit in with the MS figures I have so far but, honestly? Seeing this comparison confirms how cute it looks in bot mode. I can't be fussed about scale being wrong when it's this adorable! So far I only have a handful of MS bots for a legends-scale collection and I really do enjoy their flappy, panel-y transformations and the feel of their plastic. So I'm seeing this and just thinking that both of these bots are worth having but for different reasons. Which is funny, because I got into MS before anyone else because I thought their figures looked cuter!
Both look great, honestly. I wish the mainline Mirage would have been this good, I didn`t like Siege or Kingdom. I kept my 2008 Classic. Legends really do have better engineering. Great review man, you rock!
MS delivered a spot on g1 toon bot, even going as far as giving the light blue color (weapon should've been metallic silver like the rocket though). Better proportions, better sculpt, better articulation. The MS rocket can definitely detach btw. Also glad MS Mirage has the wheels at the right spot on the feet. Plus you can articulate those wheels when posing the feet, so there won't be any big gaps (and extra stability).
I get the desire to see Magic Square ditch the vinyl plastic, but if Magic Square used New Age's materials, their transformations simply wouldn't be possible. I just picked up the EX version with the metallic silver paint, and it looks incredible.
Great video Deluxe. I'm getting the MS Mirage to go along with my IF Mirage. The NA figure looks great, but is a bit small for my liking. Keep up the great work as these versus videos are awesome.
Magic Square Mirage for the win, at least in robot mode. Alt mode is a tie to me as it's more of a preference but, there's no comparison when it comes to robot mode. I only wish Magic Square would use a different plastic as they feel tacky and cheap.
It pains me to say this but the NA model here is offensively small. Like almost unusable for a collection small. The alt modes are close, NA has better paint and materials, the MS has the better look. But, in robot form I mean it's like usable size and unusable size. I think I would have done a MS vs. IF on this one only for that reason. To me that's a better comparison at least in terms of battling in a collection.
i have long, skinny, woman like fingers and i still have trouble getting to those little spaces. you really need strong finger nails to survive transformations. lol
The scale is the reason my Legends is a combination of both MS and NewAge. MS' scale is off when it comes to the regular car bots, being too tall. Wish I could have finished my season 1 characters at least.
@@Anduril1974 I follow the sizing scale that Masterpiece follows. Jazz, Mirage and Car-bots of their size are only supposed to reach Prime's abs. Magic Square doesn't size their bots correctly against their Prime. They're too tall against Prime.
@@DeluxeBaldwin Your very first reviews on Legends scale was very important to watch. You were the only one that were doing comparison across Newage, Magic square, Iron Factory, and Mechanic Studios. That was a VERY important factor in finding which company did the right scale against Prime and Megatron.
Great review. I do love both of them. Very cool. It's just a shame that MS fails to polish theirs, would it have broke the bank to paint the Light Blue colors on him SILVER & White for other parts? That little bit of Extra Polish goes a long ways and imo, would have HIT it out of the Park.
Its really a shame that even with newage's newer bots they're still too small to matter. At least there's skyfire & inferno to look forward to cuz i really can't stand MS's bland bots

Regular car bots being too tall? Most of my collection (90%) is MS and they scale perfectly with each other. So i'm not sure what your issue is.
