I just sjumped on the red dot wagon on my P320.. I bought a new slide with a red dot so I can practice with. I sighted it in today and after 75 rds I was ready to sell it. I am much faster and much more comfortable with my iron sights.. A friend of mine told me about this video, and I was amazed and impressed by the quality of your education and your approach in teaching. you hit the nail on the head with a lot of the noise factors associated with an iron sight shooter transitioning to red dots. I am going to give it more time before I give up on the red dot. Its going to be my new challenge to conquer this summer. Thanks for a great video.

Just acquired the 9mm compact RX conversion for my carry size p320 Sig (originally bought in 40 S&W). I have yet to take it to the range (I'm a range safety officer at a local gun club), and before doing so, and because an RMR is new to me, I wanted to search for succinct expert explanation/instruction on its use. And boy am I glad I found you. Thank you, thank you for your "series" of videos on this subject. I wrote this because I particularly wanted you to know that your "pitching a baseball, throwing a football" analogy for understanding the over-arching eye/hand co-ordination importance within the aiming process really hit home with me, as in my younger days I was a karate instructor who certainly knows the value of eye/hand/foot to target importance. It was extremely meaningful in my "new" understanding, not only of the use of an RMR handgun, but to shooting in general. I am now a retired yet vibrant 74 and always just an okay shooter, never what I'd describe as real good. I do however feel confident that the techniques your videos have covered will help be better in the future, and after verifying zero of my new configuration of the gun I plan to carry, I can't wait to go and make more acceptably grouped holes. Thank you again from a new subscribing fan.
Seeing your consistency/accuracy at 20m makes me feel alot better about my own accuracy between 15y and 25y. I thought I really sucked but now I see that maybe I don't suck as hard as I thought I was sucking
I was having issues. So applyed this theory & Ronin Tactics. Find your dominant eye & bring that weapon up & press out in alignment with that dominant eye & I improved 110% I'm not all the way there yet, takes years of practice but it works 🤟

Recall the Texas church shooting when Jack Wilson made a head shot at what looked like more that 15 yards. I'm sure he practiced at that range for a reason.
You just helped me assist someone I've been trying to help get better because I cannot translate what they are doing and why they are inconsistent. Tape the sights.. never thought of that. It will help diagnose what is going on. It has nothing to do with a RMR, but applies to the open sights.

I am not new to guns but I shoot outdoor cause in my country shooting under 18 shooting is illegual for terrorism and stuff, I’m trying to go for 25 meters but I need to train a little bit more on trigger control and I really love your videos!
Dam it Aaron! You shoot better and 1000 times faster at 100 feet with a glock equipped with no, yes I said no, none, nada, zero; sights/optic/aiming device then I do at 5 feet with target sights, red dot, shooting bench and locked into a lead sled. My wife gave birth to my first child, A BOYYYYYYY, 4 months ago and while it's the greatest thing to ever happen to me, he has killed any thought or chance of even thinking about anything other then going to sleep let alone practice. I'm gonna sign up for a class with one of my local trainers. I feel so inadequate right now. Thanks Aaron. Lol

Kinesthetic alignment. The natural body orientation toward the target developed over time and practice. Creates a natural point of aim toward the target. Good info, I talk about this in a series I did on Patreon and my other channel at Redbeard Combatives
I've barely been using a dot a couple years now. What i find completely intriguing is that for me, the dot has been a magnificent training tool. Yes it is intended to be a sight but I've noticed that I'm objectively shooting better as in basic principles since using one and itisn'tt because the dot is "cheating" and does all the work by itself. It forces me to change how i was doing things in order to get hits where I want and now I've noticed with my iron sight guns I'm shooting both eyes open, naturally. I'm consitently bringing that gun up to my eyes and head instead of the other way around, naturally. My stance and grip and how I control muzzle rise is more consistnet, naturally, because it's so much more exaggerated with a dot that you notice it more. Its interesting how people either seem to adapt and live a dot right away or hate it and cant grasp it's use. Guess I was lucky that with the 1st range trip with one ot just felt kinda natural and really didnt take long to get comfortable with. One of the biggest helps is just frequently practicing drawing as often as i could. Everytime I'd disarm at home id spend 5 or 10 minutes just drawing from the holster to figure out where to hold it and how to get that view. They're pretty neat

Wow, enjoyed learning. I like the idea of purely training hand eye alignment. I know that for me if I haven't trained in a while it may take a little longer to align dot/eye alignment. Great vid!
With my hand I coordination and your camera set up. I would have shot your camera lmao. You need more subs boss. This channel has helped me out so much with fine tuning my shooting skills. Please don't stop sharing your knowledge.
In a weird way the dot movement and management of it kinda reminds me of how you have to keep adjusting the steering wheel just slightly and controlled when driving an older model car because of the play the steering wheel gets over the years.
Just bought my frist red dot. Found myself shooting irons though the red dot. I had to force myself to stop. First 200 rounds today I was a lot more accurate with the iron sights. Just like fly fishing you have to keep with it and you have to leave your crutches AKA your regular rods home

Are there any advantages or disadvantages when it comes to the actual color of the dot as it relates to either day or night shooting? In other words, why don’t you use a green dot RMR or an Amber dot RMR?
I just got a red dot for my pistol, I wear glasses, but when I see the dot it looks like a smudge, when I take glasses off dot looks like a dot. Now I have used a red dot recently on the rifle and just put that dot on target and shoot. Is the concept the same for pistols? Do we need to use irons along with dots on the pistol?
it would seem to me the sightless pistol demo basically proves that optic/sight choice dent really matter since to can make effective hits at reasonable distances without having to acquire a sight at all be it iron or dot.
Hi Aaron, quick question, I have an FN 509C tactical with suppressor height sights and a Vortex venomon rds.. If I replace the suppressor height sights with standard sights would that achieve lower 1/3rd in the optic window?
Question for ya Aaron, would it help a guy become used to this whole threat-focused, first focal-plane red dot experience if he ran the RMR alone without backup irons for a little while? As a training evolution, not a duty scenario.
He has another video about that... he hits a pretty small plate at 100yds with the larger dot. I have a 3 MOA RMR and wish I had the 6.5, just for speed, it is not that much bigger

And I've got a Smith & Wesson Performance Center with the slot cut out on the slide for a red. And I've been thinking about putting an RMR on it. But I have had problems keeping alignment of the. With handguns. Because I see in two Dimension and not 3 dimension it presents a problem with a handgun if the sites aren't Co witnessed with the.. it's hard for me to Center the. In the Lin's due to no point of reference unless I have a physical one like the front sight on a rifle or a front sight on a pistol. I really appreciate you explaining all this I thought I wasn't able to use a red. Because of my injury. Thank you very much sir looking forward to the next video.

I am older and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be I'm considering the RMR 6.5 MO red dot what are your thoughts about that one
