Terminal alkynes give tollens test but not form silver mirror, As we know that tollen's reagent prepared under alkaline conditions, so the media alkaline and due to the presence of alkaline media , it takes the acidic hydrogen from terminal alkynes and form silver acetylides and they are cement-white or white precipates.

So ye kehna sahi hai ki terminal alkynes give tollen's test but it is wrong to say it gives silver mirror test, As sometimes we called tollen's test as silver mirror test but ye kehna galat hai kyunki mostly carbonyl compounds (aldehyde) gives silver mirror on treatment with tollen's reagent but kuch aise compounds bhi jo tollen's ke sath react karke silver mirror nahi banate like jaise terminal alkynes give cement-white ppt . and hydroxyl amines gives grey-black ppt. of silver. So in cases main silver mirror nahi form hota but they give +ve tollen's test but if it is will they give silver mirror with tollen's reagent then our answer is no.
