FILM DESCRIPTION:
Kaulder (Vin Diesel), a witch hunter, is cursed with immortality by the Witch Queen (Julie Englbrecht) right before she dies at his hand. As a result, he has been tracking down evil witches for centuries while leading a lonely existence separated from his wife and daughter. When the Witch Queen returns from the dead seeking retribution, a battle ensues and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies). Y’all... you guys completely missed the point “why is immortality a curse? I’d love to live forever hahaha” its a curse for HIM. He WANTED to die so he could be with his family. The witch knew that. She cursed him so that he will never be with his family again. She didn’t make him immortal so he could keep killing witches. Its like “hahaha! You’ll live forever and you can kill as many witches as you want, but wont change the fact that you will never be with your family in the afterlife!”
Lastly, she cursed him with immortality, not super powers. Yeah he’ll live forever but as a normal human. Not as a god, or a superhero, or a wizard. Just a normal guy.

In cursing him with immortality, she's effectively damned him in two ways. The first is that he can now never die, thus he'll never be able to reunite with his loved ones in the after life. And the second is that he will now become like her, a permanent outsider in a world that will march on while he never changes.

A lot of people didn't like this film because it's nothing like the actual witcher... But it's not supposed to be. It's based on the modern world and how it would be in our times. And it did it amazingly, hidden from most humans. This film was really good.

With that beard, bald head, voice and body type Vin Diesel would make a pretty damn good KRATOS in my opinion. Just give him the Leviathan axe, ashen his skin and give him the tat and he’ll look just like Kratos. This movie is his perfect introduction to the role in my opinion

He was great in Riddick. It's too bad they didn't continue that story as it was enjoyable. The video games especially were surprisingly very good.
I don't understand how some people don't think immortality is one of the worst curse. Imagine you're in one of these scenarios:
Scenario 1: You get buried alive. You will constantly feel the sensation of your organs getting crushed, your bones getting broken, your flesh being torn, or the sensation drowning as the pressure of the Earth restricts your chest from moving. You experience all of this while remaining in a frozen position in a dark and quiet place.
Scenario 2: You get stuck in a desolate place. No food no water. You'll constantly feel the sensation of extreme hunger and dehydration.
Scenario 3: You get stuck in a desolate place. Your movements are restricted. Bugs of every sort begins to dig and crawl into your skins, nose, or ears. There they will live, lay their eggs, eat your flesh, dig through your muscles, and repeat. You'll feel every bug inside your body.
Scenario 4: The world ends. The sun is gone. Either you'll live in ice cold Earth devoid of life or the planets gets destroyed and you float in space as you constantly choke for the lack oxygen and your body freeze and crack due to the low temperature. You will continue floating until the last star disappears leaving you in a dark and empty universe. Worse, you could get sucked into another star and burn in its nuclear fire for millions of years.
Scenario 5: You get captured by a shady organization. Your immortality is of great fascination and interest for them. You'll get vivisected i.e. cutting and opening up your body to inspect its insides. This will happen several times. They could drop you in a vat of acid and leave you there for hours, days, or month out of curiosity or cruelty. You'll stay there as the acid will constantly burn your body both the outside and inside.

Everyone's going on about how immortality isn't a curse. Unless you have the ability to erase your own memories, immortality is pretty much always a curse. When you live forever, how long will it take before you've done everything there is to do? Eventually you'd reach a point where everything is boring, there's nothing new to do, nothing that can keep your interest. Eventually you wouldn't be living anymore, you'd just be existing. You'd probably end up just sleeping for years, decades, centuries, who knows how long, waking up and hoping the world has advanced enough that there's something new for you to experience.
Witch: Everyone you love is gone
Hunter: Family is forever
Curse with immortality to never die and I don't want to be immortal
Witch queen: “ everyone you love is gone, I’ve seen it in your eyes, you wish for death”
Kaulder: “Then we both die” *points the flaming sword at her*

To be immortal and surrounded by people who love you is not a curse. But he was not surrounded by love and soon after everyone he knew would die. It was a curse. The witch knew she would eventually return to take back the spell of immortality to herself and she was counting on the loneliness of immortality to break his spirit before her return. In the comments below someone mentioned Kratos. He would make a good Kratos, with his acting skills and physical prowess Diesel would be a perfect choice. There are many with physiques but his acting skills puts Vin ahead of the rest. Thanks for uploading this clip. ♥

The opening of this movie is the best of it imo, if they made the whole first story just about the church assembling a band of warriors skilled and hardy enough across the continent, from crusaders to vikings to take on the Witch Queen and her acolytes, that'd have sold so much more.

By that logic, I shouldn't try to make friends or a family, because one day they'll die. Do you know what I can do as an immortal? I can watch my family's exploits over many generations. I can see what happens and help out when necessary. That is awesome.

Noo. Curses are wishes, meaning they can only be done as a wish but its all negative. It requires immense hatred anger etc. but that emotion is quite hard to achieve so not much can curse.

I mean, attacking the lair of the most powerful witch in history and her coven with less than 10 men? That's heroism, stupidity, or suicide. For him it was a little of Column A, a little of Column C. Look at him just before he stabs the Queen. "Today we both die." And he's totally fine with that. Also it was a trick so...
Slight issue with that. The sun is not immortal, so you may not die but the place you call home will eventually.

I hope you realize life only has meaning because you know youll have to lose it at some point and you make the most of it for the time being. If you were immortal, eventually youd stop finding the beauty or pleasure of being among the living and either go insane from the psychological burden or merely existing as a husk of a real person who is able to treat everyday as a new opportunity rather than another sunrise and sunset to drone through. Youd just stop caring about everything and anyone and be miserable.

So in terms like this, since it's not an anime, how far is his immortality? Does he not age? Get sick? Does his body become indestructible? What happens if he gets decapitated? Does the blade not go thru? Will it go thru and somehow in a jiffy, his head miraculously goes back into his body? Does that mean vital injury wounds would heal up in seconds? What's the whole law of immortality? How really does it work? What happens if he loses too much blood? What if he gets bombed with a nuke? Does he regenerate over time back to himself? Man what's going on?
Feel like you're getting held down by a ghost with that flame sword fell cursed been there done that..

Now this movie was really good, and to add I enjoyed it allot, but it wasn’t great.
An I have an idea why this movie wasn’t great, and it is do to the fact that I think that maybe the important detailed scenes were cut out of certain sections of the story in this movie’s film.
But I strongly think that (The Last Witch Hunter) could be better as a show series, and to add maybe it could be broadcasted on the AMAZON network, or maybe on the (Netflix network).
Plus to add if it ever does get made into a show series I strongly think that an origin story should be made of it; It could be used as a proper storyline setup for the beginning of the show series of (The Last Witch-Hunter).
People obviously don't know what they're wishing for when they think immortality would be better on earth than heaven. When everyone is dead and gone that you love, when get old to the point you can no longer move on your own you will wish for death.
Vin diesel is about as amusing to look at as a logg.

@@MrLemmanz Although, I think it'd be interesting to have immortality, there's the possible scenario where humans will destroy the whole world and since, nothing can kill you, you'll have to live in a desert/post apocalyptic world with nothing to do and that's just in case the Earth hasn't explode or the sun has done it, which in such case, you'd be wandering in the space.
