I went from the head springs down for quite a ways on the Rainbow River. The first time I did it on Scuba...the second time we snorkled it. Easily 70 - 80 feet of visibility underwater.
Yes. The 484 bridge near Swampy's bar & grill. I don't know the exact height but I remember it being pretty low and I just checked Google Maps for pictures from Swampy's and it looks too low.
It was a rock at the 3 min mark. It’s so huge, you can tell the water level by how much of the rock is sticking out of the water lol I’ve never seen a manatee on rainbow river. Lots of otters, gators, water moccasins, alligator napping turtles
I have yet to find exact bridge clearance heights but I recall the SW HWY 484 bridge being lower than the others and that if you had a pontoon boat with a Bimini top you might have to lower it. As for the other two bridges you'll pass under, they are higher and I would guess have min clearance heights of 10 feet.
Great videos and i visited your web page....your doing a great job. I'm going to visit the Rainbow River in my 1996 Hewes Bayfisher in June...Thanks I have a question. Do you have, or can you recommend an access ladder for the Hewes?
Hi Mark. Sorry for the crazy late reply. I don’t know how I missed it. I would recommend a Garelick sport/dive ladder off the stern. It’s something you’d have to have installed (the mount) then keep the ladder in a hatch or lay it on the deck when you plan to swim. The other thing you could do is use a rope ladder hung over the side and tied to the console grab rail but that’s not as good.
HI !! we are going tomorrow , and had a question , can you beach up or tie off somewhere ? we have a go devil surface drive boat and are able to get in some really shallow water, was hoping to find a shallow place to park the boat and swim for a while. we are going really early to possibly avoid the mass tubers. plan on making a video of our trip. Thanks for sharing your day - i see alot of tuber videos and not many boat videos on the river ! nice job!
Outdoor Adventures with Shawn There’s no place to tie off that I saw but you can anchor on any sandy patch. The best places are Juniper Creek Run and the big sandy areas near the spring head. You can’t boat beyond a certain point otherwise you’ll be in the actual spring. There’s a sign in the middle of the river that notifies you. If you leave from the Dunellon public ramp it’ll take you a good 1.5 hrs to get to the spots I’m talking about. It’s quicker to get back due to current. If you want to save time you could launch at KP Hole Park (single axle trailer only) but that place may be a zoo this time of year.
@@LazyLocations great info ! we are launching at the public ramp in Dunellon - we have plenty of time to idle up river. we plan on eating at Stumpy's and cruise on up the river. Juniper Creek Run and the sandy patch, we will be on the lookout. Thanks again for your video, great info for sure.
I dropped in at the N Florida Ave Boat Ramp. Small boats with a single axle trailer can use KP Hole also. I anchored on sandy spots. That way I didn’t damage the grass.
Matthew Fernandez Yes. You can fish the entire river up to the point where the sign reads no motorized boats beyond this point. It is also a slow speed zone throughout the entire river.
Dustin Fowler At the Dunnellin public boat ramp in town. If you want to get closer to the spring head you can use the KP Hole boat ramp as long as you have a single axle trailer.
Thankyou so much your video is very cool and inspirational me and my wife will be following your same route on our 15ft royal craft. I will check your site out for sure
I love the rainbow. I canoe there often.
You are super lucky! That's one of my favorite waterways in FL!

Anything preventing a boat with T Top taking this route? 21’ CC.

Is there a height limit or issues when launching a boat from the Denellon public launch to go up and down the rainbow river?

Thank you for this video. How close can you get a boat to the Headspring?
I think the distance is 500-1000 yds. If you bring a sup you can go take that all the way.
@@LazyLocations Thanks
Great video, thank you. Where did you put in?

Outdoor Adventures with Shawn Anytime. Enjoy and let me know how it went.
is this river deep enough for a catamaran?
I wouldn’t use a cat. Not only is it not deep enough in certain places but it’s narrow so the width of a cat would be problematic.
Where did you drop the boat in? Are you allowed to anchor in the springs, or tie off to an object?
I dropped in at the N Florida Ave Boat Ramp. Small boats with a single axle trailer can use KP Hole also. I anchored on sandy spots. That way I didn’t damage the grass.
Read the blog post in the video description for all the specifics.
Can you fish there and is it no wake the whole time? Looks amazing!
