Yo Dave, that's dope! I made my own computer desk out of a single ply wood using only a hand saw, sandpaper, screwdriver, screws, T square and paint stuff, was fun.
That is absolutly amazing, you are a geniues, the chair looks so comfortable more then any office chair. if I had room in my workshop I would of done something similar. Thank you for sharing, thumbs up.
I got a chair out of a corsa (b series) too - a few years ago now im thrilled by your video and maybe i finally will build my own one thank your for your inspiration dave :)
My goodnes, quick story, I found out about precious plastic about a week ago and you looked kind of familiar, now I saw this video in recommended and I realised I've already watched it quite a while back. The point somehow the algorithm must've led me to precious plastic then🤔 Dave you are a real inspiration🙌
Dude. I really do love your videos! Watched all of them, but... Want serious feed back? or are you really happy with the wankers that have posted here telling you how brilliant this is? From an American perspective, you're not going to walk away with any full recline automobile chair from a scrap yard for much less than $40. Unlike Europe, you're not likely to be able to ride a bike there either. So you'll drive, but due to "liability" you may not even be able to scrounge around. All of that - IF you can get to the car before it goes in the crusher/shredder. Then, assuming you can live with the dissimilar casters... I guess that's cool, but is aesthetics not worth at least something? Even in a garage or shop? So let's say to get 5 matching ones you go budget and only spend $30 more. I've got scrap metal and my own welding equipment too (most of your viewers don't), but NONE of that is free either. Argon shield gas alone is a couple of bucks, throw in a few bucks for filler rod or wire, the fuel to drive to both the junk yard and the welding store, plus your can of spray paint and it's proven environmental damage. I can buy scrap steel for about 35 cents a pound (.6 Euro/Kilo) but always have to buy way more than I want to, so that I can cut out what I really need. So after at least $100 out of pocket and more than a few hours (time is money) in the shop (space that could be alternatively used for lower cost housing instead) you end up with a marginally functioning, ugly, non armrest - equipped, office chair that smells for a long, long time. A clean new lightweight fabric backed chair, designed by ergonomic minded designers, with an environmentally friendly powder coated, scratch resistant finish is $76 delivered to my office. I think we should stick with recycling precious plastics, but I can't find anyone willing to pay for that either...
well in my case i have chair i made the same way years ago and it did cost me a few dollars butt i am sitting in leather armchair and i used an hold desk chair for the mechanism, and when it brake like well easy to replace and most important for the moral I DID IT MYSELF
That's a very cool idea. So simple to make a frame. And a great way to up-cycle too.
