@Wooden Potatoes thanks for still doing what your doing and sharing your fandom. Had to comment to let you know how fun and amazing your videos are, and how it made us (wife and I smile), Tho bittersweet now without my angel just hearing the music and your familiar voice made me teary eyed. Thank you for years of making out worst days at hospitals a little brighter an hour at a time :). Please Keep doing what you do Sir.
I played a lot of GW1 but never paid much attention to the story myself. I wanted to go back and experience the story, fully immerse myself, and learn about what I've been missing. I've been watching your GW1 lets play videos a lot that you made years and years ago, and have been really enjoying them! The Factions (Sightless) one has sooo much detail and work put into it and I'm so glad that it hasn't gone to waste and I could still watch them in 2023/2024!
I dont play GW2 anymore, but I still always enjoy listening to your videos and hearing your coverage of the game, aswell as other games too. Nice to hear from you again WP, and hope youre all good!
So glad to see you back and posting things and talking about shinies and just .... well ... being the wonderful YOU! welcome back - always happy with any of your content.
Glad to hear you atleast sound like youre in a good place. You have a clear goal and sound very happy and excited. Really interesting to hear you acknowledge potential burnout with your old altetnating days plan. Nice to hear you enjoy th3 editting aspect too. Heres to a great year
Super pumped to hear there's more to come and I'm glad to hear you've found your flow and have figured out what works best for you. I look forward to watching these LPs!
The relic being unique in terms of the legendary being more of a wardrobe makes sense, because in comparison to basically any other form of legendary stat content, relics are already heavily tied to achievements and so they are maybe naturally the most important for content relevance going forward. I mean I wouldn't be opposed to having future stat combos for other legendaries also be tied to achievements or masteries or any other progression, but relics are clearly the best fit at the moment because they're already so heavily associated with the achievement system.
The Grimrock and and FFX playlist were amazing. I really really appreciate the research and information you provided, and they stood out from all other typical let's plays. I still think about them years later and I'm longing for another let's play of this kind. However I understand that the effort that went into them maybe didn't pay off for you. And I understand you have to make hard (economical) decisions :( But I just wanted to tell you how amazing they were and if money wasn't an issue, I wish you would create more of them :)
So happy to hear you discuss your new upload plan. Not just because we'll be getting content but because I know how hard it can be to keep inspiration alive while balancing the creative/technical and social media can be really hard. It's great you're figuring things out and trying new ways of creating.
Glad to hear you're getting back into the swing of things 😊 Would LOOOVE to continue the FF14 playthrough with you, I've actually been keeping the Spreadsheet with the GW2-FF14 release timeline updated all this time and it's grown quite a bit since last time 😉
hello WP i just HAVE to let you know. you've been such a huge part of my life all these years. I have watched every single piece of media you have released pretty much, I don't comment super often but I must say it's so nice to have a full structured video back on the channel. you've genuinely made my week with this
So happy to see you back again WP! I'm very excited for the postprocessing change too! I've been wanting it for years. I hope the volume sliders can get some similar love in the future as well. Speaking of your plans to do more LP's of more games, if you have any room for suggestions, would you ever be interested in doing the game Kingdoms of Amalur? I've always wanted to see you play and analyze that game. It's one of my favorites. It's an RPG that's like a mix of Fable and Skyrim. Open world but with "zones". It has a really fun and interesting world with lots of lore and worldbuilding to explore with side quests, side faction stories, lorebooks etc and imo a great art style.
Right now I have a cool list of projects I really want to do but when it runs out I'm definitely open to suggestions! Especially things that might bring new people to the channel.
Hey I'm happy to see you back. I'm actually one of those people who watch stream vods and I loved following your playthrough of ff14 as I picked it up last year. I really enjoy the way you analyse and comment on the story and I think you're gonna have a lot of fun when you play Endwalker. Cheers
Yes a new WP video woooo! I'm really glad you're making more videos again. A little disappointed you aren't planning on making gw2 stuff currently because I'm only interested in Gw2/the only game I have time for, but I'm glad you're passionate about your work! While I don't really have time to watch playthroughs(which is why I've always appreciated your videoe like your weapons tierlist or looking at the adventures, or just experimentation videos you do for fun), I'll definitely try to watch a little bit when I find myself unoccupied.
I recently commented on a piano reddit about note taking. Taking notes while practising a piece is a lot more efficient way to learn the piece. You are essentially pulling out the thoughts in your head on to a page and attaching visual and motoric memory into this event and to this information. I can imagine doing the editing versus doing live videos being that experience empowered into the nth degree.
Very excited about the LP news! I think a good pace to ensure you never "run out" while working on other LP's in the background would be a 2 or 3 day release per week, so something like a W/Sat or M/W/F release schedule. Plus it would stay consistent to appease the algorithm!
Honestly WP I rewatch your old FFX and Grimrock playthroughs like once a year since they released, they've been my favorite things you've made they just never get old. I'm really hyped to see what you end up playing through next
Regarding the channel update I'm sceptical yet very(!) enthusiastic. If this actually happens like you explained... Let's be more optimistic: WHEN this happens I will be there and I will love it, that's for sure. You just have to kill the small doubt inside of me that remembers the unfinished projects of the past years. :)
On the updated PVP profession achievements: I hope they do this for a bunch of other achievements that track things that just naturally keep progressing as you play the game. I'm sure I'll have already got 5000+ kills in some of the Slayer categories and i'm probably close to 10K on some of the weaponmaster ones. But in particular I really want to keep seeing how many skins I'm unlocking with Fashion Forward - the game stopping counting at 1000 is a big mistake when Fashion Wars is a big reason for many people playing IMO.
Great to see you back, I'm definitely excited to see your non gw2 content (Soto has been a pretty meh expansion for me personally - I kinda regret getting it and the only upcoming content I'm interested in is SAB). You can maybe use the youtube premiere feature before you upload your next LP to catch the initial wave of comments in the chatbox if you want to respond to comments on the fly during the initial period. Like that other person I too occasionally rewatch your old LPs and stream vods on WP2.
Nah I can back it up, I love the look and having another option to earn a leggy armor, I live the heavy one tho Instill need the light set for my casters. Still I underestimated the farm so might end up getting the raid light and the new heavy cause it’s so premium and regal looking.
To be fair they can now release legendary aquabreathers that require unlocking stat combos as the game progresses... Always appreciate your takes on GW2 news!
Hearing that you're stopping the live stuff to do proper Let's Plays again has put a spring in my step today! Every one of them is a 10/10. Easily the best LP's on youtube.
I fell off of GW2 during End of Dragons (I only made it to the first main quest in New Kaineng City, before I stopped playing). But still kept an eye on your channel for videos. So, always great to see a new one,. Interested in the stuff you have planned going forward!

@woodenpotatoes so I have been replaying the story for secrets of the obscure just to catch myself back up and their is some dialogue between peitha and isgaren which suggest he might have help create the human gods the tone he says its in referring to them as gods was sarcastic like they werent really gods maybe wizards of such that had alot of power anyways it might be a cool lore video to dive into the chapter is treachery where he says it
I think the legendary armour still looks rather intricate. I prefer the more non shiny look to it and im sure we can tinker with infusions if we want to be discoballs. I think this armour can mix and match with other individual pieces. Its very hard to match the envoy stuff with other new skins that come out.
Better postprocesing customization is great, maybe they could split the effects volume slider next? So combat sounds dont kill all other effects for most players.
Nice to hear that about Stellaris! Actually, though, I must be honest, out of every project I think the Gw2 LP is unlikely to return. Not in the near future anyway (i.e years). It's just not as exciting to me seeing how the dragon saga ended and neither does it help me branch out to other games/genres/audiences.
So you did several projects, mostly ahead of time, and are going to release it in parts. Mainly so you can give yourself breathing room to plan and produce for future stuff? HMMMMMMMMMMMM That sounds familiar!!!! mini-expansions. I wonder what it reminds me of???? mini expansions :P Don't worry I'll judge it more when your second big project comes out. /s lol Really though, do what you enjoy. Any content is good content. :P
I hope Eparch is gonna be a really cool giant boss, unfamiliar and absolutely not a reused asset. And let us fight it instead of doing some weird yoga or skyscale minigame.
regarding the looks of armor, of course the ingame model can never look as painterly as the concepts or the original vision for the game in general, but that plastic sheen effect is something anet has used extensively and - for whatever reason - deliberately for years. it can work decently on what are supposed to be metal parts, but it's applied to leather and sometimes even cloth as well. weapons suffer from this as well, where every blade looks like a plastic sword you'd get for halloween rather than a weapon made from metal. it makes it really difficult to match older and newer pieces. another tool they also have at their disposal, but apparently didn't make much use of for the finished armors, or at least in these preview renders, is, for lack of a better description, the shading of dyes that becomes especially apparent through the undertones of man gemstore dyes, and works beautifully with pieces even from the HoM, which we can be certain haven't been touched since. and these gradients can achieve great effects, adding detail, looking rugged or worn, add shading and a sense of depth. now for the actually salty part: i am not surprised, given that the dye issues on envoy armor still haven't been resolved, and even properly dyable particle effects having become more common in in-game earnable armor. the darkest black particularly on heavy also still only resembles a light gray, in no small part due to _an exaggerated use of a plastic sheen-like effect._ and as for the armor being upgradable: the gloss will only increase.
Charr cultural heavy armor tier 3 set is what I'd like to see recreated on this legendary armor, it has the vibe of armors seen on the concept art imho. I think You're wrong, the engine can do it.
For me personally, I prefer pre-recorded let's plays over live streamed ones. I watch let's plays for the creator and the game, not for the watch party communal aspect. I like when the creator can really focus on the game without being distracted by live stream chat. Especially when chat is being dumb and the creator has to stop and deal with it. Really takes me out of it.
Channel update is good news to me. I found your channel through Guild Wars 2, but I subscribed and continued watching from your early Let's Plays. I love the "informed" Let's Plays you do, where you give tidbits and trivia along the way through the game. I'm so glad you're not doing the live format anymore, personally. Just wasn't for me. Edit: Btw, you are the only channel I have notifications turned on for, and I am subscribed to a lot of channels. :P
The difference between the pvp and wvw updates for the titles is wild. In the case of Ultimate dominator there's no single person (that we know of) that will get the final title right away. (highest amount of kills on gw2efficiency is 2.29m, so they'll de on the second to last title) While in the case of pvp tons of people will instantly get the final title. I wonder why they didn't just keep going with the pvp ones. I'm also a bit confused why for wvw it's just for the kills title, and not for capture objectives, etc. And it would have been nice if they went with more interesting titles than adding on roman numerals (coloured titles, anyone?) Though I guess Ultimate Dominator X is the most edgy title possible Another side note, I really wish you could just have your wvw rank as a title. Noone but my enemies can see it right now and that's a shame. Only folks at 10k can show theirs off with God(dess) of WvW
Definitely do your balance with Boots for the PREVIEW. They put that out for early feedback, after all. A little late to give feedback when the patch actually drops.
It's really cool to see Guild Wars 2 getting updated so regularly, but while all this stuff is cool it's hard not to be disappointed how infrequently we receive new Strikes and Fractals. I love this game but it just doesn't release enough endgame PVE content to keep busy, and so I just end up playing Final Fantasy XIV instead (particularly because there's so few ways to make and keep new friends in the game). It's just sad to basically have a game I don't like as much be my main game while it feels impossible to main the game I have the most fun with.
Yeah I feel that entirely, 14 just has a really nice infrastructure for it's endgame that I don't think Gw2 could compete with given it's own structure (for buildcraft etc which doesn't translate into the kind of daily matchmaking 14 uses to keep its population high in all that endgame stuff)
@@WoodenPotatoes Yeah that's probably true... still, I really do think if we could get even half of the Strikes and Fractals each year that FFXIV gets in Trials and Dungeons that it'd really be enough to keep me playing and meeting new people in the PVE endgame. Honestly I think maybe it'd be even better in Guild Wars 2, because I've always appreciated grinding in GW2 more because - since you can basically buy almost everything in the game with gold - I always have something I'm personally interested in to chase after. FFXIV I play for the sake of the content itself, but in GW2 I'm always going for some cool mount skin or cash shop item that I'm interested in. All I really want is enough new team PVE content throughout the year to form and maintain relationships. I'm just imagining a world where we get 4 strikes and 8 new Fractal stages a year and it's awesome to think about. I know they just don't have the staff on the GW2 dev team to pump out that quantity of content, but I hope one day the team will grow enough to make that happen. Also I really wish they'd introduce a "Duty Finder" for 1-25 and Story Mode Strikes just to get people into the content. I know you can't do it for more difficult stuff because of the importance of team composition, but there's a lot in this game one can absolutely do with a team of complete randoms and I think if there was matchmaking to onboard newbies they could make something of it. Especially if they started making group content mandatory to progress the story the way FFXIV does, or at least repurposing the main story levels to add new Fractals (honestly it's wild to me that this doesn't already happen when there's actually some stuff on that main story that would work super well for group content...).
I wouldn't want to stress you WP but I have a need to post this comment. I feel like something important to me is lost when you pre-record a whole series at once. There is no chance that anything contemporary will be mentioned in the video and it makes me feel "more lonely" watching the series. It feels more like a stagnant pool of water rather than a flowing stream. I wouldn't preferre to watch content that way for the same reason I don't preferre to watch playthroughs from years and years ago. Now, I hope you have an audience for your content and I hope it succeeds and brings you happiness. Basically I hope it works out for the better.
It's strange about gear graphics more recently in MMOs. I feel like the gear translates worse now from concept art a lot of the time, I don't know if that is because mmo devs optimize hours for artists or what. WoW's gear is incredibly uneven now in retail, some new things look like a crime to the concept artist's work, some understandably can't entirely be done and some is spot on. Just really wide variance.
I’m beyond elated to have an update video and hear from you. Only half way in but had to say hello and welcome back.

As a Medium armor main, this is hands-down the most beautiful Legendary armor I've ever seen.
Because it has no buttcape?
@@gewreid5946 because it has no buttcape.
I agree. I really like these new sets, and I definitely think they look better than the first gen leggy armor.
I’m loving them too. Even the heavy but definitely grabbing the medium one and getting raid heavy later unless tier 2 open world is AMAZING!!
tbh in old pve legy medium armor for my char only top and head is bad, rest is epic. Well top and head is most of it >.>

Do you have a list of games you want to or plan on making into LPs or are you interested in community suggestions?
At one point when all the games I have already on my mind are done, I'd love suggestions!
Thank you
Charr cultural heavy armor tier 3 set is what I'd like to see recreated on this legendary armor, it has the vibe of armors seen on the concept art imho.
Welcome back 🎉
The difference between the pvp and wvw updates for the titles is wild.
And it would have been nice if they went with more interesting titles than adding on roman numerals (coloured titles, anyone?) Though I guess Ultimate Dominator X is the most edgy title possible
Another side note, I really wish you could just have your wvw rank as a title. Noone but my enemies can see it right now and that's a shame. Only folks at 10k can show theirs off with God(dess) of WvW
These are all really good points, I wonder about that descrepency myself.
Definitely do your balance with Boots for the PREVIEW. They put that out for early feedback, after all. A little late to give feedback when the patch actually drops.
Do I care about GW2 anymore? Nope. Do I still watch every WP video for comfort and for a mention/update on FFXIV stuff? YEAHHHHH
Hello good to see u
The Return of the King
Wooot! I’ve been waiting for FFVI. Really looking foreword to the ending.
Didn't expect a video from the retired GOAT of all GW2 informative and helpful content, but it was a very welcome surprise.
Wooot wp video!!! Good to see u
I actually like the new legendary armors. Medium is the best, then heavy, then light
A new video on graphic settings with examples like the snow you mentioned in the video would be amazing for us less experienced
Omg long time man
