Have lived in Sunshine Coast for years and had no idea this was in our neighbourhood. Might try and come visit. I have some dreams...

Looking for guidance on how to set up a sustainable community? - these guys cover much of the topic with clear guides. Excellent!

I’m really interested in this concept, but, how do you ensure that “it will never be sold”? How much is the rent and is there any sort of public liability insurance to protect people whilst visiting the village?

The property is in 'collective ownership' under a non-profit. So if someone offers to buy the property, no-one can personally profit - it would go to the non-profit. That takes the temptation away to sell; so it won't be sold - so we have effectively taken it off the speculative market. Yes, we have insurance. Rent is around market rent, so it will vary depending on each village.

@@ecovillagesaustralia8549 That sounds like a long way of saying limited liability.

@@ADerpyReality. No. The land is held in a collective. No people actually own it.

I would like to talk about how I can collaborate and work for a year or two in the ecovillage.

I read the manifesto and so much of it is disturbing.

    • @ecovillagesaustralia8549

We don't have a manifesto. We have a vision. What disturbs me is the alternative - becoming a 30-year slave to a mortgage or worse, a slave to rent; helping someone else get rich. All I can say is that my life is better than it was in the suburbs. Come and see us sometime!
