    to increase the accuracy you have to:
    1. calibrate the probe stylus center
    2. probe a known diameter datum, for example 30.001mm, only probing the center of it and setting the center as x0 y0
    3. jog to x0 y0, then probe the datum again but this time subtract the probed diameter from the known diameter and you have the exact probing diameter of the stylus (for example the physical probe diameter at work is 3.000mm but the diameter in the control is 2.984mm).
    keep in mind to set a feedrate you feel comfortable with and then always use this this feedrate when probing, either x y or z.
    to calibrate the z height of the probe (this is what we do at work), we first get a datum tool, then calibrate the toolsetter to this datum tool and then measure the length of a brand new endmill.
    Then put something in the vise to slightly kiss with the endmill, preferrably steel because plastic may warp during cutting. Then cut maximum 0.1mm from the top and set Z0.
    when you get the touchprobe, jog it over the cut surface and probe with the predefined feedrate on it and set the probe length. (should be a positive value)

      At first glance the points stated above are correct, although they do not relate to the point of this video. I had pointed out that adjusting the "run out" of the probe is a bit of a pain in the a**. The experiments in this video merely demonstrate the repeatability of triggering the probe, not measurement uncertainty of measuring dimensions.

      Do you mean the machine table? That’s just a regular en-aw5083 15mm piece of aluminium. I drilled it using the machine and have mounted it to the extrusions underneath. It has been lightly flattened using a small 20mm face mill.

    Did you have problems with a probe triggering during the jog or between moves during measurements? I have....🙈

      Out of curiosity what value of pull up/down resistor are you using?
      Lower resistance equals a larger current which is harder to get interference on (remember to stay within the spec of the receiver)

      @@svenkrause3433 Considering 2k7 is as low as they recommend 5-24V (maybe one could go lower if the supply voltage isn't 24V (would confirm with vers.by first)) I suppose there isn't much to be gained there.
      A opto coupler could be used, they are (usually) slow so glitches don't get though them easily... but they are slow so accuracy will suffer...
      Using twisted pairs (maybe "borrow" some from an Ethernet cable) to reduce magnetic coupling.
      Shielding the steppers/servo cables if they are not already.
      Routing the probe cables away from noisy cables / motors.
      Using a separate power supply for the receiver in case the noise is coupled though the power supply.
      I think that was it for generic noise reduction ideas... maybe ask vers.by for help MinistryofBrokenEndMills makes them/him seem nice and helpful

      At the time the machine used JMC iHSV57 180W "servos" on X and Y and JMC iHSS on Z.

      Hallo Paul, toll, dass die Videos gefallen. Fazit ist immer noch positiv, wenngleich inzwischen diverse andere Taster auf dem Markt sind. FB und Insta meide ich allerdings.
