i think spectrasonics should really think about releasing a midi controller that looks similar to a hardware synth, with lots of knobs, sliders and buttons that are all labelled and map to the omnisphere functions. this would fill the gap for people like me who don't really want or need a hardware synth, but would love some hands on control. i do already have a midi controller, but it's limiting because i need to create an empty patch with everything mapped (which i have to recall to use the hardware) and i can never remember what knobs or sliders are mapped to what in the software. to have the freedom to select any patch from the library and then start tweaking immediately from hardware would be a dream come true. i'd happily replace my existing controller with the spectrasonics one.

thank you so much for this improvment! a little question: is it possible to control few instance of omnisphere via one hardware device? for ex if i have few omnisphere in my DAW, can i switch from one to another? same question for a multi patch. how does it work?
You can select which instance of Omnisphere you're controlling with a given Hardware Profile by record-arming the track containing the desired instance. You can also call up Multis or Patches from the library using custom MIDI CC Learns or MIDI Note Learns. For more information on this, you can reach us at info@spectrasonics.net :)
Does that include the Moog VX-351 Control Voltage Expander for Voyager, as well? Moog Minitar would rock...& Moog Theremini, if that's even possible.....Novation Nova ASM would also rock...Arcturia Minibrute as well. We have your full suite of software & we were wondering if there are any future plans for Trillian, Etc? You guys are The Best, by the way, so glad our studio chose You over the other choices we had. Thank You.
VX-351 dies not send MIDI Minitaur is in the works Nova ASM researching Theremini has few controls, but might be doable Minibrute/Microbrute send no midi from panels unfortunately
@spectrasonics you should release your own midi controller. Please include these features: 1. Endless encoders 2. Knobs and sliders on the left 3. 37, 49 and 61 key versions 4. Include some software bundle with the midi keyboard
Would love to control Omnisphere from Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII, absolutely amazing if I can easily access Omnisphere along with V Collection on KeyLab, thanks!
You can map any free button that sends a MIDI CC to step through the Patches! Just use "MIDI CC Learn" on the up and down arrows in the Patch Browser. 🙂
It would be great to have good tea and coffee and a bunch of great minds in a room talking about this. Not that Spectra would benefit, as you guys are fantastic. But what a bunch of concept future to discuss, eh?
Currently, none of the Hardware Profiles offer this functionality - the Prophet X Hardware Profile gives you the ability to browse and load Soundsources from the panel, but this does not apply to Patches / Multis. You can, however, assign MIDI CC messages, MIDI note messages, or MIDI Program Change messages to any of the Patches / Multis in the library on a custom basis with any MIDI controller for calling up sounds on the fly. 🙂
Thank you Spectrasonics !! . I want to know if you plan to support behringer synths which are inexpensive with lots of knobs and curious about Nord stage timing.
Sorry...thought we answered already. Here it is again: DeepMind is in the works. Unfortunately, the Behringer purely analog synths so far do not have full MIDI implementation and do not send MIDI from their panel controls..so they cannot be supported unless Behringer updates them. Nord Stage 3 is in the works too. No release date set for it yet.
So, could the Roland Juno DS work with Omnisphere? I'm very new to music production, so bear with me here, but I was planning on buying the Juno DS88. If I got that both it and Omnisphere, would I be able to hook my Juno DS to Omnisphere? Or do I absolutely need one of the hardware synths above to run Omnisphere?
This Hardware Synth Integration feature is an entirely optional way of interacting with Omnisphere - if you have any of the synths we support, they can be used as a control surface for the parameters in Omnisphere. Otherwise, Omnisphere works great with a standard mouse and keyboard! The Juno DS is more of a workstation oriented keyboard, so it's not a good fit for the in-depth integration features shown in this video, but the Juno DS can definitely be used to play notes into Omnisphere via MIDI! If you have any other questions with getting started, feel free to contact us at info@spectrasonics.net :)
Great Features has this update. My Q is, What about adding Behringer Synths support such as the Model D and the DeepMind 12? And also Moog Mother 32, Korg MS-20 and Arturia Matrix family? Thanks!!
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this approach. I don’t own Omnisphere yet but it’s looking great! I’m considering buying a Prophet X but the price tag is holding me back, and you don’t have a waveform display on the synth. Can I use Omnisphere as an enhanced editor to design sounds on the PX hardware as well? That way I can use my Mac and Omnisphere to get around the limitations of the hardware interface and benefit from the analog filters etc. using the PX on stage. And: if I have Omnisphere will I also have access to all of the modeled hardware synths from within Omnisphere, i.e. a software version of all these synths? Or do you need the hardware synth to use the modeled synth within Omnisphere?
SpectrasonicsVIDEO I watched that video before this and I’m still trying to figure out why you would want to turn your hardware synth with its signature sound into a modeled software version. I guess I just don’t get the point. But on its own Omnisphere sounds absolutely awesome. It may very well be my next purchase... if you add NKS support! 😄

It would be really good if you could have the hardware information written in a grid for easy reference: Which give you access to all Wavetables? Which give you access to the Sampled Instruments? Which give you access to Granular? Which gives you 3 or 4 LFOs? Which gives 3 or 4 Envelopes? Multiple Filters? Parameter Sequencers? Note Sequencers? Effects Controllers? Waveshaping? Thanks
This is an excellent review! I have a question. Which synth will give me the most options with Omnisphere between the Novation Bass Station II and the Roland SE-02. Also, can I use my M-audio Oxygen49 for playing the notes while shaping the sounds with the Roland SE-02 simultaneously? If so, it might give me more options using the SE-02?
Since each supported synth controls Omnisphere in a unique way, it's best to go with the synth that has the features and layout you like best - keep in mind that you'll be able to use that synth on it's own in addition to using it as a controller for Omnisphere! And yes: playing notes on one unit while another unit acts as a controller will work. :)
Hi Guys :-) Hope all's well. Wondering if Omnisphere would work with my M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro midi controller. Are there any new modifications since posting this video? Don't have the money to buy a separate synth. The plugin itself is expensive for me. Thanks.
Yes! 🙂🙌 Your controller will work great with Omnisphere! Check out the ref guide with specifics on how to get the most out of it here: support.spectrasonics.net/manual/Omnisphere2/25/en/topic/system-modulation-page01?q=midi+controller
Maschine and Motif models are not knob-per-function synthesizers, so they aren't a good fit for this feature (though you can create custom mappings for them if you'd like). The synthesizers mentioned in this video are the current models we support for the Hardware Synth Integration feature, with many more on the way!
Sounds pretty incredible. I just got an Arturia Key Lab 88 Maybe you can come up with a patch for that. It’s got a lot of standard buttons and sliders on it. Thanks for the good work. Robert
Thank you for this fantastic video and free update to Omnisphere, you guys are awesome. Which synth would be best to not only control its own hardware profile but to control some of the others as well. I was at the opening show in Santa Monica and saw that you can take a rev 2 and control the ob6 profile. So which synth would be the best 1 to many. Btw, How anyone can down vote this big an upgrade and free to boot is beyond me, ha.
Hard question to answer, because all of the profiles can control all of the patches and other models. So it really depends on what you are most comfortable with and what meets your needs/budget, etc. Any of the powerful Dave Smith/Sequential one’s are great.
I have a nord a1 rack version. I'm just wandering if I would be able to use an external midi keyboard to play notes in omnisphere as I do with the synth? also will I be able to use the 4 parts simultaneously when sequencing with my octatrack?
Yes, you can use an external MIDI keyboard to play Omnisphere 2 while controlling it with the Nord A1 Hardware Profile. Omnisphere can respond to 8 distinct MIDI channels for each Part, so sequencing it with the Octatrack in this way should work fine. :)
We tried supporting it for Hardware Synth Integration, but due to the way the MIDI messages from the Nord Wave 2 are sent, we couldn’t provide the kind of control over Omnisphere that a user would expect.
Spectrasonics: I have a DSI Pro 2. After watching this video, it seems like it would offer a lot of control with mod, envelopes, waves and filtering; it's kind of modular in one box. Very deep little ax. Over?
This is untested, but the Subsequent 25 and Sub Phatty have nearly identical MIDI CC functions. So, the Subsequent 25 will likely work quite well with the Sub Phatty profile, though it may not be a 100% ideal experience sound-wise. :-)
Is it possible to control parameters of other sounds that are not specific to that hardware controller ? For example use ob-6 to control the version 1 omnisphere sounds ?
For yamaha Motif users , if there’s not going to be an integration with omnisphere , what would be the best set up then ? Just adding some midi controller ? Or some other solutions ? Any suggestions deeply appreciated ...

I wish that the hardware integration also worked with popular midi keyboard controllers also. Is there a way to setup a midi controller to mimic one of the hardware keyboards in the list? I would like to setup my Akai advance keyboard to work like the Roland ju-06. This would be great.
SpectrasonicsVIDEO SpectrasonicsVIDEO, Since a midi keyboard sends out midi wouldn’t it be possible to setup the knobs/buttons on a midi controller to output the same midi information as the hardware keyboards? In this day and age it just isn’t practical for most people to buy hardware keyboards. I used to own a Juno 106 back in the 90’s and it would be awesome to be able to use my keyboard controller to control the JU-60 hardware preset.
No, the implementation is much more complex than standard MIDI CC that typical controller send out. Often NRPN, SYS-EX and unusual behaviors with specific value ranges for certain behaviors are involved and critical for success. Standard MIDI Controllers aren’t capable of sending that kind of sophisticated data.
The Hardware Integration feature is focused on synthesizers that have pre-labeled knobs and sliders. Since the M-Audio Oxygen Pro is a user-definable MIDI controller, it is not a good fit for this feature. I saw on a separate review that the quality control of the rev 2 was very poor He bought two and there was something wrong with the oscillators in both of them. You rated the rev 2 as outstanding though. Did you factor in the quality/durability of the rev 2? Is there an issue with the quality of that one elsewhere?
We have numerous REV2s here in the company and have had great luck with their reliability...so yes, that was a big factor in giving it our highest rating. :-)
This is a good feature for existing users but I really wish they would do direct NKS support. I know NI are a competitor, but I only buy and use VSTs which are NKS compatible at this point as it is much better with my workflow.
@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO that is unfortunate. There are 3rd parties who have nks packs, but obviously those will be out of date when you upgrade. I particularly am interested in the obx filter and waveform emulation you put in here, and I program my own synth sounds so lack of 3rd party presets support (which isnt necessarily true as they could have nks packs with those expansions) isnt an issue for me, but I just wont pay $480 for a plugin which isnt compatible with what waves, arturia, uhe, Waldorf, and xils all provide support for. I hope n.i. release some change which changes your mind, even though the reasons you state for not supporting it are not applicable or issues for me. It seems the development you put into this for specific hardware had to be far more extensive than nks, so it does confuse me as an end user. Again, great as a free addition for your existing users, but bad for people who use NKS platforms and would jump on as new users.
As an impartial user who owns NKS products, both maschine studio and MK3 and Kontakt ultimate I thought the same thing but what I realized that at the end of the day it's about control. With NKS, everything is laid out in a linear fashion on my KK control keyboard which I love but I also would like a different method of control by having the knobs aligned to a traditional synth. Again, I don't work for spectrasonics, I'm just an end user. I'm going to get omnisphere because of this integration. It's just a different method of control. All the best in your music making. i definitely hear where you're coming from. I had the same thoughts.

for granular synthesis on the prophet x alone it’s stunning
Ikr was lying on my couch listening when he hit the granular synthesis I jumped out to watch what going on with the prophet X I think this alone will open new kind of music.
it is a genre unto itself and powerful for scoring and texture work
Here they are only using Omnisphere... imagine if you stack the X sounds with Omnisphere
David Fix doing it right now! it’s rather enormous
Might be ridiculous, but.....Will there be integration for the new ish Roland SH-4D?? I feel like that would be an amazing controller.
We'll definitely look into it! 😄
Access Virus TI 2 ? ... please ;)
@SpectrasonicsVIDEO Any chance ?
Yes, please !
+1 for this! It’s the only hw synth I have, would be bulls-eye to support it
+1 for the Ti2. Pretty please. Oh, and the Behringer Model D.
they already answered virus TI will come ;-)
Es una buena noticia.Buen trabajo. Desde mi punto de vista, es el sinte software más completo que existe.
DEEPMIND 12 is on the list for Hardware Integration.
Does that include the desktop version DEEPMIND 12D?
Yes!
it works
Any chance of getting the Prophet 08 on the list? It has lots of knobs, and is the only DSI I own...
Also--for the DSI keyboards that are supported, are the keyboard-less modules equally supported?
Now supported!
Will you ever add the behringer 2600 and the deepmind 12??? I’m planning on buying both
Deepmind 12 is already supported! Unfortunately, the B2600 does not send MIDI / CCs from its faders, so it's we cannot make that one work.
thank you so much for this improvment!
a little question: is it possible to control few instance of omnisphere via one hardware device?
for ex if i have few omnisphere in my DAW, can i switch from one to another?
same question for a multi patch.
how does it work?
Thank You.
VX-351 dies not send MIDI
Minitaur is in the works
Nova ASM researching
Theremini has few controls, but might be doable
Minibrute/Microbrute send no midi from panels unfortunately
@spectrasonics you should release your own midi controller. Please include these features:
1. Endless encoders
2. Knobs and sliders on the left
3. 37, 49 and 61 key versions
4. Include some software bundle with the midi keyboard
So can you change the parameters of any knob and save it that way with any given sound? cause that changes everything.
Yep! :-)
Yep!!
Prophet X and Roland SE-01 are both stunning that would be it for me.
Would love to control Omnisphere from Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII, absolutely amazing if I can easily access Omnisphere along with V Collection on KeyLab, thanks!
PLEASE
Was curious if you guys get the Melbourne Instruments Nina to work for Omnisphere because of the motorized knobs
We'll look into it!
I have a minilogue! can I cycle through the presets using the minilogue?
You can map any free button that sends a MIDI CC to step through the Patches! Just use "MIDI CC Learn" on the up and down arrows in the Patch Browser. 🙂
Here's more detail: support.spectrasonics.net/manual/OmnisphereHW/2.5/en/topic/korg-minilogue-overview
This is honestly an amazing feature!
Great idea - very well done!
Do you plan to support the Roland JD-XA? I have a Prophet Rev2 and am overwhelmed by what you have done. Truly impressive!
JD-XA is now supported!
It would be great to have good tea and coffee and a bunch of great minds in a room talking about this. Not that Spectra would benefit, as you guys are fantastic. But what a bunch of concept future to discuss, eh?
Is Nord stage 3/Nord Wave planned to be covered?
On the list!
Both? Nord stage 3 and nord wave?
I am looking forward to the stage3... definately a much used comtroller...
+1 Stage 3
Yes...both on the list and in the works
nord lead 4 on your list i hope - cool update folks ?
+1 for NL4
Now supported!!
Great video! Is there an option to play the sub 37 polyphonicly like the voyager? I love my sub 37 but playing more than 2 voices would be awesome!
Yes! :-)
The Arturia KeyLab would also be a great option for this, right?!
Might be possible....looking into it!
Wow, you also updated the GUI? Nice! We can't wait for v2.5!
It's live now! Go get it :-)
PLEASE add Yamaha Motif integration!
Can you browse through all of the Omnisphere patches using the hardware synth buttons or encoders?
Here it is again:
DeepMind is in the works.
Unfortunately, the Behringer purely analog synths so far do not have full MIDI implementation and do not send MIDI from their panel controls..so they cannot be supported unless Behringer updates them.
Nord Stage 3 is in the works too. No release date set for it yet.
Thanks for this great update.
Please support Roland V-Synth!
Researching that one!
Are you planning to update the hardware integration to the Moog Subsequent 25 Analog Synthesizer?
Yep!
Nice demo...please add the Roland V-Synth...has the hands on control, plus the time pad. Also don't forget the TI synths.
Great❗️ ...you did the ROLAND System-8.
My other consideration is the:
ROLAND JD-XA HiBrid Synth.
PhilMW
Already got you! JDXA is currently supported. support.spectrasonics.net/manual/OmnisphereHW/2.5/en/topic/roland-jd-xa-overview
Deepmind 12 ? Model D?
DeepMind in the works, model D not possible since panel controls don’t send MIDI
I am excited as I have a deepmind and multiple stacked with all of the omnisphere effect.
what about the behringer neutron?@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO
@@avenlanemusic Many of the parameters on the Neutron do not send MIDI, so it's unlikely we will be able to support it.
Great Features has this update.
My Q is, What about adding Behringer Synths support such as the Model D and the DeepMind 12?
And also Moog Mother 32, Korg MS-20 and Arturia Matrix family?
Thanks!!
Deepmind and Matrixbrute are in the works. Other ones not possible because their analog panel controls do not send MIDI data.
Deepmind is now supported!
So just for clarification: could I connect a Roland synth and use the Obenheimer or Prophet wave tables? If so that would be absolutely insane.
Yep!!
@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO great! Right be right back, got to rob a store now =D
hi there,
is access virus Ti also integred?
The Virus TI Hardware Profile will be added in Omnisphere 2.6, coming this March!
Now supported!!
Watch the Introducing Omnisphere 2.5 video and you’ll have a better idea. This is all about controlling Omnisphere from a hardware Interface.
Is it possible to control lets say the prophet 6 sounds from the simular nobs on the Rev 2?
Yes!!
Thats great :)
Will there be a follow-up video on the same topic for version 2.6? This one was really helpful...

I hope y'all at omnisphere are taking a good look at the ASM Hydrasynth. I think it would be amazing with Omnisphere with having pages of knobs!

amazing stuff!! would it work with the NORD MICRO modular? tnx
It would be really good if you could have the hardware information written in a grid for easy reference:
Which give you access to all Wavetables?
Which give you access to the Sampled Instruments?
Which give you access to Granular?
Which gives you 3 or 4 LFOs?
Which gives 3 or 4 Envelopes?
Multiple Filters?
Parameter Sequencers?
Note Sequencers?
Effects Controllers?
Waveshaping?

Thx for the idea!
What about Virus TI1? Is it requires connect by MIDI or via USB? I have broken TI integration system but via MIDI works fine!
Works great either way!
That's very helpful! Thanks for the quick reply! @@SpectrasonicsVIDEO
Does Studiologic Sledge 2.0 (black edition) work with Omnisphere?
Yes!
@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO Thanks. I'll check it out.
Can I use my Machine Studio or Motif XS6 or do I have to buy one of these featured in the video?
Maschine and Motif models are not knob-per-function synthesizers, so they aren't a good fit for this feature (though you can create custom mappings for them if you'd like). The synthesizers mentioned in this video are the current models we support for the Hardware Synth Integration feature, with many more on the way!
Brilliant, I was wondering what the make is of the Keyboard and laptop stand. Looks really classy
We use a custom Gibraltar build. :)
Is it possible to add V-Synth to the Hardware Synth Integration list? Thanks!
Sounds pretty incredible. I just got an Arturia Key Lab 88
Maybe you can come up with a patch for that. It’s got a lot of standard buttons and sliders on it. Thanks for the good work. Robert
That one might be doable...in the works!
Dear Spectrasonics, does Omnisphere 2.5 work with REV2 Desktop? Thanks!
CO5MA Yes!
Great! Thank you!
Is there a button in omnisphere that makes the software instantly reflect whatever your hardware synths knob positions are set to?
Yes! “Link Omnisphere GUI” in the HW menu :-)
That makes the knob movements track the pages in Omnisphere. There’s no function to instantly reflect all the knobs though.
That nord lead patch sounded amazing. Where did all of the emotive distortion come from?
I have a Novation X-Station 49. I'll be intrigued to find out how this behaves...
We will look into supporting it!
@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO awesome! thank you
Is there any plans to add MPE support for ROLI and other similar MPE Controllers or is that already a thing?
MPE is in the works!
Please add the Nord wave 2 It has a nice keyboard waterfall action which you don’t have on any of your existing hardware integratio
list !
Over?
Now supported! :-)
The subsequent 25 works with the sub phatty profile, right?
This is untested, but the Subsequent 25 and Sub Phatty have nearly identical MIDI CC functions. So, the Subsequent 25 will likely work quite well with the Sub Phatty profile, though it may not be a 100% ideal experience sound-wise. :-)
Is it possible to control parameters of other sounds that are not specific to that hardware controller ? For example use ob-6 to control the version 1 omnisphere sounds ?
Yes!! :-)
For yamaha Motif users , if there’s not going to be an integration with omnisphere , what would be the best set up then ? Just adding some midi controller ? Or some other solutions ? Any suggestions deeply appreciated ...
Yes! Adding a small controller like the Novation Bass Station II is a great solution.
SpectrasonicsVIDEO super ! Thank you
Hello, one question with novation bass station can play pads, synth, play with more one key?
You can use the Bass Station II Hardware Profile to play Omnisphere polyphonically!
SpectrasonicsVIDEO ok

I wish that the hardware integration also worked with popular midi keyboard controllers also. Is there a way to setup a midi controller to mimic one of the hardware keyboards in the list? I would like to setup my Akai advance keyboard to work like the Roland ju-06. This would be great.
No, the keyboard must have dedicated controls that are labeled on the panel for this to work..
How about the Roland JD800?
On our wishlist, but it’s a complicated one!
May I know if m-audio oxygen pro will be added to the list?
The Hardware Integration feature is focused on synthesizers that have pre-labeled knobs and sliders. Since the M-Audio Oxygen Pro is a user-definable MIDI controller, it is not a good fit for this feature.
You can, of course, already use the M-Audio Oxygen Pro to play Omnisphere and create custom mappings!

is the Minimoog Voyager RME compatible for hardware integration with Omnisphere 2.5?
DR8855 Yes!!
Any chance you will be adding the ROLAND GAIA SH-01?
Yes! Available now in v2.6 :-)
This is a good feature for existing users but I really wish they would do direct NKS support. I know NI are a competitor, but I only buy and use VSTs which are NKS compatible at this point as it is much better with my workflow.
NKS is too limited for Omnisphere, since it doesn’t support user patches or third party libraries. Highly unlikely to be supported in the future.
