What about moisture behind the siding? Does it breath or drain or is a vapor barrier required? I’ve installed a similar product which requires glue but I screw it instead and hid screws in the mortar portion and used a matching mortar caulk. I never trusted the glue installation type especially here in Alaska where the cold will hinder its adhesive capabilities.
NextStone panels have patented weep channels and recessed air chambers behind them so moisture doesn't collect. A vapor barrier or building paper is recommended for any install regardless. The panels also have a patented interlock so panels will install water tight on the surface.
The video shows NextStone's Slatestone Brunswick Brown. The panels can most certainly be installed directly onto brick. As long as the brick is flush and free of anything that may interfere with a stable install.
Is there a certified distributor in Alaska? Also. If I did this on my chimney is there an inside product that matches I could do my fireplace in? I’ve been wanting to do my fireplace and have matching rock outside on my chimney to make it look like a real rock chimney and fireplace. The indoor portion would have to be a fire safe material but I also want it to match the outside foam style
All NextStone products are rated for both exterior and interior use. If your fireplace insert is gas or electric, NextStone can be installed directly up to the metal framing. For a wood burning fireplace, a set back of a minimum 12 inches is recommended. NextStone is sold through online retailers such as HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com. They all ship to Alaska.
How did you attach the ledge over the existing siding? Thats what I am going to be doing but cant nail down the ledge flange as it will be covered by the existing siding.
For a wainscot application, the Sandstone Ledger piece provides a sloped sill and a flashing is used for transition which keeps moisture out. For full house siding, the panels are run right up to the soffit.
NextStone has minimal expansion/contraction as it is a closed cell Polyurethane. As long as the panels are acclimated and properly installed, there will be no gaps caused by expansion/contraction. NextStone products are installed in all weather types.......the Arctic north in Canada down to Chile......hot blazing temps of Arizona and frigid temps of North Dakota :)
Yes the panels can be installed right on top of the brick using mortar or cement screws, or a backer board (osb/plywood) can be installed onto the brick for a flush surface first.

I just went through hell replacing a window that this siding was covering. I chose a chisel over trying to find a saw that would work. What a mess. And four more windows to go...
Probably should have replaced the windows before installing this. I always tell people when I side a house that it will be more work to replace windows later and will also have to replace some siding components if they do. Windows should always be the first thing a homeowner replaces on the outside walls before siding etc.
@Sam Ram It basically comes down to a Florida Engineer stamping and confirming load and wind calculations to make sure the house has the needed structural, insulation and rack strength. I asked around and having custom plans drawn up and those calculations is VERY expensive.
I didn't know you could you this, now i know how to make my house look even better!
This looks like one of the best products I've ever seen. I want to do this to the front of my home. Looks too easy......
Nice product!
Pretty cool, though it doesnt have the natural feel. It's like installing vynal wood flooring instead of real wooden floors. I dig it
Thank you :)

The video shows NextStone's Slatestone Brunswick Brown. The panels can most certainly be installed directly onto brick. As long as the brick is flush and free of anything that may interfere with a stable install.
If the existing brick has a ledger brick, should that be removed and replaced with the NextStone ledger??
Can this be attached to the concert part of the foundation?

For a wainscot application, the Sandstone Ledger piece provides a sloped sill and a flashing is used for transition which keeps moisture out. For full house siding, the panels are run right up to the soffit.
