  • In this video I unbox and use Vic Firth Drum Mutes to play drums quieter in my apartment. I compare the difference of drums and cymbals with and without the drum mutes. If you're looking for a way to make your drums sound quieter, these are it! These drum mutes are great for practicing quieter drumming in an apartment so that you don’t bother your neighbors! Non-Slip rubber mutes - perfect for apartment drummers! They are very easy to place and remove.

    thanks man! ive really been wanting drums and my dad wont let me get acoustic because of the sound, so i wanted to get mutes so it helped alot

      I’m glad to help!! Playing on an acoustic set feels much better than playing on an electric set. These drum mutes really do help, you can’t hit crazy hard but for practice they are perfect. You can put the mutes on and lay a towel over them, and that will reduce the noise even more. 🤘🥁🤘

      Is it possible to buy a extra high hat mute and put it on the inside ? Maybe trim it so the hats close. Not sure though.

    I use thin face cloths for cymbals a bath towel for the bass drum and drum pad mutes for the drums but turn off the snare and it's super quite

    I suppose you could actually order a 2nd set of Mute Pads and just double 'em up right on top of each other, both on the drum heads and the cymbals, I wonder if that would affect the bounce of the sticks too much??

    • @ericshenanigans
      @ericshenanigans  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you need it more quiet then that would be fine. Yes it would affect the bounce of the stick, but for practice it wouldn’t be the worst thing 🤘

    it didn't work as well on the hi-hat but the cymbals were much quieter especially the ride. i winder if that's because the lower hat is missing the pad. great video tho!

      @ericshenanigans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right. It needed something in the middle to lower the sound. I am thinking about trying a rag in the middle. Thank you!

    The loudness-problem is quite easily solved by using drum mutes. The real problem is the kickdrum pedal! The kick drum pedal transfers sound to the floor, and is by my experience always the biggest problem when it comes to sound-dampening and neighbours. If U live in an apartment and have people living below you....then you HAVE to build a platform. (Tennisball-platforms works great.) Greetings from a guy owning v-drums for 15 years.

      Thanks for your comment! I agree if you are not on the first floor a platform is necessary!!!

    While these do work nicely, they absolutely stink, like literally smell out my entire basement. I’ve been trying to air them out outside. It’s actually awful. I hope the odour from the pads wears off soon

    • @ericshenanigans
      @ericshenanigans  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are 100% right on that!! They can smell. I got lucky and after a week they didn’t smell anymore. If the smell didn’t leave I was going to put baking soda on them to pull the smell off.

    Nope, cymbal sound like garbage, even their balance is totally out of place! I prefer the Millenium still series! But i guess the mute drumheads sound very interessting! thanks for the review! :)

    aw buddy, if those worked they never would have come up with mesh heads and low volume cymbals. Still way too loud to play in an apartment

    • @ericshenanigans
      @ericshenanigans  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they are not as quite as a mesh mead but it’s just another option for drummers to know about :) the mic picks up a lot of sound. It sounds better in person.
