    We need a sprint of this. Crucarta would be amazing.

    Video images do not do this knife justice! I have bought and sold most of the popular small fixed blades over the years, and this is the only one I kept. It is absolutely beautiful in the real world, and the weight and curves are almost sensual in hand. IMO, VG-10 is not a slouch steel. Keep it stropped and it is as sharp as anything I own. And for a small knife, you will know you are holding a substantial "chunk o' steel". For me... it is one of the most satisfying knives I have bought in the sub $300.00 range. I can't recommend it enough.

    love my street beat, they have a less fancy version that is cheaper with a blacked out blade too. Perrin's designs are great!

    I think your point about a "confidence inspiring " handle is rather key. Ive acquired a number of real neat and nice looking small fixed blades and neck knives over the years, many with really cool designs. they fail to get much use for that very point, though the blade portion is capable, the tiny, thin or otherwise inadequate feeling handle just don't feel "confidence inspiring" in hand. I see they also do this knife in a cheaper lightweight FRN handled model as well.

    170 bucks? Man....where are you buying your knives? These are like 110-115 every where I see them. Hopefully you'll see this if you decide to get your own.... I hate to see a guy get rooked that hard on something. 5 or 10 bucks is ok for me if I'm just in the mood to buy....but 60 bucks? Nope. I'll just wait until it comes into stock or I just won't buy it. That said this is good video on this knife. I've been trying to find this info put out this well.... Great job and thank you for sharing this info. Appreciate it guy.

    I do not think you mentioned that this knife is full tang and I think your video showed that for a fraction of a second. That is not the case with the earlier Fred Perrin Spyderco. In an interview, Fred Perrin's leaning toward combat usage was clear. I think this and other Perrin designs have a slight recurve. Also, there is a far less expensive version with a molded handle.

    Love the knife, but would like to see it in S30V and with a sharpening choil.

    I've found that running a lanyard on this knife ruins the overall feel in hand. Try it without the lanyard and you'll know what I'm saying. The 3D contouring is absolute perfection, it's hard to notice without looking down the spine. Having catch and released countless knives, this one is destined to be an heirloom.

    This is the best carry option i found for a fixed blade i love the g-clip. I varry it inside the panys with the clip over the belt like you but rigth hand and iys great. This made me buy g-clip for a mora and fällkniven kk that i made kydexchet for. they carry great. the only downside to my streatbeat was the edge it was ridicoulos on the angle didnt cut anything good. buy after a sharpening its great but the factoryedge was useless. To edc a fixedblade hidden this is the best choice u got in a factory knie in my opinion. but it needs a sharpening and change in edgeangle if its like mine.

    Where can you get this model now, I only see the new version

  • @matthewadler1329
    @matthewadler1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you still get this version of the street beat? Or that real steel for that matter?

  • @matthewadler1329

    Dedicated defense blades tend to have a tougher edge (thicker) I guess so that you dont chip it or roll it, and a thick, sharp, toothy edge still has a lot of sheering capacity to move through heavy clothing and whatnot. I have Perrin's la baby bowie, which is my favorite EDC fighting slasher and it's very heavy behind the edge. Can anyone explain what kidney carry is? I would like to have more carry options

      Kidney carry would be horizontal carry in the small of the back centered, or to the side between the small of the back and the hip. Basically Scout Carry.

    It's a very nice knife, but the price point is ridiculous. That may account for its limited popularity.

    This is why I fell out of love with Spyderco.
    VG-10- cheap, micarta-cheap, kydex-cheap, made overseas, Street Beat-$170.
    I do full customs in better steel for less than that. It's ridiculous. Not to mention the last one of these I saw had horrible edge geometry. So thick you couldn't use it. It's got to the point where what they're offering for the price isn't worth my hard earned money anymore.

    • @Kevinclearysharpstuff
      @Kevinclearysharpstuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the price is a bit much especially for vg 10 I would be thinking a used on if I ever tried to get one

    • @jawbonephd
      @jawbonephd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a bit much for everything it is. They're using less than $15 in steel, less than $3 in micarta, $1 worth of kydex a few cents in eyelets, and a $10 G-Clip. It's obscene what they're charging for an overseas production knives made of what it is.
      Get a custom that's cheaper, better quality, and exactly what you want rather than enable this negative behavior from Spyderco.
      Heck, if you come to me for one I'll give you a deal because you're actually one of my preferred reviewers.

      Oh they can just increase the price threefold and then it won't be that cheap. Or you can pay the store 3 times that price. Its an easy fix.

    Nice review. You notice that your music that you use to start your videos, is the same one that Dave Rubin uses? I'm not accusing you of anything, it's probably just a free sound bite, I'm just saying that for channel recognition... perhaps look into changing it? If not that's fine, your channel, I enjoy your videos, and you do a great job. I don't even have 1 video so what do I know. Just saying look at Dave Rubin's video music.

    save a pocket full $$ and get a mora eldris, and put a spyderco g-clip on it....I did. it's EZ...Have how-to on my channel. Really? what is most office cubical drones gonna do with this that a eldris won't do. (especially with a belt clip)
