We have NEVER had a bad cruise. I have been on the Sunshine numerous times, It is one of our favorites! DO NOT take bad reviews or comments to heart and just judge for yourself. We have no complaints about this ship and the Sunshine staff is amazing! If you drink, I recommend the Alchemy bar... Those bar tenders are AMAZING! On our last 2 cruises both sets of bartenders ,1st was 3 males, 2nd was 3 females , they happen to be the ladies in this video and I hope they are still on board next month when we sail...LOVED them! lol, made our cruise that much more fun! The ship is older yes, but as another commentor has said, this WAS the Destiny originally and has been upgraded and refurbished, not only that but these people take care of all the ships beautifully. Also, remember...you are on a cruise, you could be back at home cooking, cleaning and working etc. ENJOY being pampered and ENJOY just being on vacation and all these ships have to offer.

The Sunshine is awesome. I've been on it twice, and I'm going on it again in a few months. Let me tell you what no one else will. The Sunshine is so much better than The Mardi Gras or Celebration. Those giant ships just cram way more people on board and charge you to eat at every restaurant. Also, the food is spread so far apart, so everyone eats the same food or takes a long walk to get different food. Small ships rule
One of the things I always look forward to the most is the waiters dancing in the dining hall. It makes for such a fun and entertaining environment. If I wanted a boring, uneventful meal, I could stay on land or go to the buffet. My kids and I even get up and dance with them!
We just got off the Sunshine. My 5th Carnival Cruise, my 1st on the Sunshine and it has been my favorite ship so far! We loved everything about it. Sorry y'all didn't appreciate the staff dancing at dinner trying to entertain you. Y'all sound fun! 🙄 Your vacation is what YOU make it.
I would definitely agree with you. The vacation is what you make it. My wife didn’t like the people dancing. I thought it was hilarious. Compared to other carnival ships. I don’t think it’s the best at carnival has to offer but if you go, there are expecting to have a great vacation. You absolutely will. We had a great time on the Sunshine. The shows we went to were awesome. They did sing live and they had great choreography. The food was pretty good most of the time. Enjoyed being on the Sunshine.
We're going in September. Excited about taking one of the last sailings out of Charleston. On our last Carnival cruise, we took 2 bottles of wine and 2 12-packs soda/juice and saved on drinks.
The karaoke has become mine & my husband’s favorite activity….we love going an hour or so before our late dining & having a couple of drinks while enjoying the show front row❤❤❤

cruised on Carnival Sunshine in Nov2016 with 2 of my younger sisters. we enjoyed and had a great time. your video was honest and on point. however, I enjoy the entertainment in the MDR during dinner and will get up and dance with them. we're not ones to pay extra to eat in the specialty restaurants for it's the same food just paying extra for the ambiance. we had an awesome band that played in the Ocean Plaza. good info for 1st time cruisers or a guest's 1st time on the Carnival Sunshine. thanks for sharing.

Been on Sunshine 5 times, going once more in May. She's an older ship, but for her size, she has it where it counts. Has many of the specialty restaurants you won't find on other similar sized vessels, has a decent-sized waterpark for the kiddos, crew is great as always and the ship has a more laid back vibe than many that sail out of Canaveral and Miami. Look forward to seeing her after her monthlong drydock in January '25. They're doing an extensive refurbishment then. She'll be good as new thereafter.
We will be cruising on this ship in February. We have cruised Carnival a lot in the past but not on this ship. Thank you for a great tour. We have noticed since the pandemic, that the entertainment have been sub-par except for the comedy club. The music around the ship has always been one of our favorite things, but the quality and the amount of performances have gone down. Hopefully that improves. Thanks again.
Thinking about taking the wife on a cruise next year, she’s never been on a cruise, my parents have taken me on 5 or 6 just with carnival. She’s gotta try it!!
I heard they were repurposed the dock area and building condos or something like that. That’s a shame. I really like leaving from South Carolina as an alternate port so I don’t have to drive all the way to Florida.
For the production shows, it seems you were on cast change, it’s usually songs plus dance plus backgrounds plus lights and all, when the cast just goes in their black clothes is because they are still rehearsing the full shows or if bad weather/technical difficulties happen :)
So how was it? I've been on Magic, was my least favorite of 5 Carnival ships. Pride/Legend were my favorites, Venezia very nice as well. I'm looking at Sunshine for next year out of Norfolk.

It is important to know that this ship was initially the carnival destiny. It was renamed and had a huge retrofit done in 2013 where fun ship 2.0 upgrades were done. All of the destiny class ships had this done

Most all the food is for free. You have to pay at specialty restaurants, and if you go to the main dining hall, a small portion of the menu is an extra cost. All the meals you see in my video were included.
Thinking of cruising this ship. We sailed on the Magic and enjoyed that and this ship looks similar. Do they have poker tournaments on this ship? They did not on the Magic.
I know I saw people playing poker, but I don’t recall there being a Poker tournament. They’re very well maybe one but gambling is not my thing so I wasn’t in the casino much.

Hi, great questions. If you are on a cruise for more than seven days, there usually is a formal night. On the cruise I was on it was a five day cruise, and there was no formal night. I've been on conquest! I definitely feel like it was a lively ship. They have a nightclub on it. It was in 2019, but that was my favourite, so far. And it's still very family friendly
In a few months, I’m about to go on this specific cruise and this will be my first time ever going on a cruise should I get motion sickness pills or no and what else should I expect?
Definitely get motion sickness pills ESPECIALLY if you aren't sure... If you get sea sick IT WILL NOT GO AWAY EVEN IF YOU TAKE THEN AFTER YOU ARE ALREADY SICK.. and your trip will be incredibly miserable....better safe then sorry... Where is your room... Back front or middle... Back and front you feel more rockiness... middle is normally good....
You should definitely get motion, sickness, pills. If you get a Boiling Cruse, they will gouge you with the cost. The best thing you can pack is an open mind.
So I'm very frustrated and sad to hear, if I understand you correctly, that you actually bought one of the wifi packages (not sure which one) and it was "horrible". I think you even said it doesn't matter if you got the more expensive ones. This is one thing I have researched to death and was still on the fence on IF I would get anything or if I did, which tier. I haven't heard anyone else say it was THAT bad. In fact, the $5 hub chat that you DID recommend, I have heard mixed reviews on that where some people say its very spotty, delayed, messages, etc. I'm so conflicted!! But Im definitely not about to pay $60 or $100 for real internet packages if they really dont work that well?
I too have heard mixed reviews when it comes to the Wi-Fi package. It’s very much like the Wi-Fi in my house. Some rooms it works great and others. It just doesn’t work that well. With a ship that has as many as a dozen floors, one can I understand how the Wi-Fi isn’t going to work perfectly everywhere, I’m sorry I couldn’t make this an easier decision for you.

My family and I had the worst experience on this Cruise. So many rude people. There were kids riding the elevators harassing the passenger, and the Crew did nothing about it

hasnt been touched in a decade? you do know all the fleet gets routine drydockings every few years right? smaller, older ship on a short cruise? ya, your not gonna get the good entertainment either.
It’s a growing trend to come as you are. Carnival, I think, wants to make the entire cruise experience, accessible and easy for everyone. However, I do feel that the dinnertime experience should be a formal event.
Infested with roaches. Been on 36 cruises and never seen more than just some fruit flies. Saw roaches all over the ship last week. You can go to the CDC website and check the Vessel Sanitation Program report....Disgusting. Report is from 7/8/2023 and says it has been corrected, but all it takes to say it's been corrected, is to produce a receipt of treatment.
You do know that ANY business that gets a lot of CARDBOARD BOXES get a lot of roaches...and SOMETIMES outbreaks happen especially when you put 6000 dirty ass people on one damn boat...you'd be surprised to find out how many roaches live in your favorite restaurants kitchen....Lol

Idk if you know about it (you probably do) but you can find a less known very large dining area at the aft.

Carnival sunshine was my second carnvial cruise line and i loved it me and my family had a good time when i was on that boat when i was a lil girl

Yes, there are multiple people working in the course. It’s generally open doing the daytime hours and closes in the evening and at night.

I am trying to decide between the Sunrise and the Conquest, any opinion?
I've been on conquest! I definitely feel like it was a lively ship. They have a nightclub on it. It was in 2019, but that was my favourite, so far. And it's still very family friendly
Personally, I would go with the conquest.
In a few months, I’m about to go on this specific cruise and this will be my first time ever going on a cruise should I get motion sickness pills or no and what else should I expect?
Definitely get motion sickness pills ESPECIALLY if you aren't sure... If you get sea sick IT WILL NOT GO AWAY EVEN IF YOU TAKE THEN AFTER YOU ARE ALREADY SICK.. and your trip will be incredibly miserable....better safe then sorry... Where is your room... Back front or middle... Back and front you feel more rockiness... middle is normally good....
You should definitely get motion, sickness, pills. If you get a Boiling Cruse, they will gouge you with the cost. The best thing you can pack is an open mind.

This ship has been to Dry dock three times since 2013. May 2016, Oct 2018 and Nov 2021. Next dry dock is Jan 2025.

Unfortunately no. We lost internet as soon as we pulled out of port.

So I'm very frustrated and sad to hear, if I understand you correctly, that you actually bought one of the wifi packages (not sure which one) and it was "horrible". I think you even said it doesn't matter if you got the more expensive ones. This is one thing I have researched to death and was still on the fence on IF I would get anything or if I did, which tier. I haven't heard anyone else say it was THAT bad. In fact, the $5 hub chat that you DID recommend, I have heard mixed reviews on that where some people say its very spotty, delayed, messages, etc. I'm so conflicted!! But Im definitely not about to pay $60 or $100 for real internet packages if they really dont work that well?
I too have heard mixed reviews when it comes to the Wi-Fi package. It’s very much like the Wi-Fi in my house. Some rooms it works great and others. It just doesn’t work that well.
With a ship that has as many as a dozen floors, one can I understand how the Wi-Fi isn’t going to work perfectly everywhere, I’m sorry I couldn’t make this an easier decision for you.

There is a kids club, but I don’t believe they have that feature on board this ship. However, admittedly, I’m not sure.
You said that the ship hasn't been touched in over a decade. This is not true. The Sunshine was last drydocked in 2021.

If you go on a longer cruise, they may have a formal night however, the cruise we were on was for five days and they didn’t.
I've sailed on Sunshine 21 times since April 2023 with 15 more booked😊 I lose weight because of the food 😂😂

Where the club at
There wasn’t a lot of clubs on the ship. There is a tees club and I’m sure there is a dancehall somewhere area somewhere.
My family and I had the worst experience on this Cruise. So many rude people. There were kids riding the elevators harassing the passenger, and the Crew did nothing about it
Hi, sorry that you had such a poor experience on board. When I was there, there was a fair amount of kids on board. Fortunately, they didn’t do anything to spoil my cruise. Overall, I didn’t have a bad experience aboard ship and I’m sorry to hear that your time was so terrible.
There are rude people everywhere. I've been on several cruises from a higher class to others, and people are just rude. Sorry you had a bad experience.

It saddens/sickens me to think people go to dinner in sloppy attire or stupid ridiculous pajamas.
It’s a growing trend to come as you are. Carnival, I think, wants to make the entire cruise experience, accessible and easy for everyone. However, I do feel that the dinnertime experience should be a formal event.
This is a beautiful 🚢. But it stinks. Please fix the smell 😫.
I do think it really depends on where you stay on board. Some cabins are closer to areas that emit a stronger odor than others.
Infested with roaches. Been on 36 cruises and never seen more than just some fruit flies. Saw roaches all over the ship last week. You can go to the CDC website and check the Vessel Sanitation Program report....Disgusting. Report is from 7/8/2023 and says it has been corrected, but all it takes to say it's been corrected, is to produce a receipt of treatment.
You do know that ANY business that gets a lot of CARDBOARD BOXES get a lot of roaches...and SOMETIMES outbreaks happen especially when you put 6000 dirty ass people on one damn boat...you'd be surprised to find out how many roaches live in your favorite restaurants kitchen....Lol
Wow! Luckily, we did not see any roaches when we were bored.
