I loved these as a kid, the way they were new stories but still managed to capture Kenneth Graham’s ideas and characters perfectly in each episode. The cast was perfect too.
remember seeing this in cinema on school trip. All of the class was amazed and enchanted by this movie so all you critics have no clue how impressive this was to children back in the day.
I know right? Blew my mind as a kid and I still respect it so much to this day. A real art-form...no CGI...brilliant. ...But this is the animated TV series...not the movie :)
Peter Sallis voiced the TV series, the original film Ratty was Ian Carmichael, Moley was the wonderful Richard Pearson, to my mind the epitome of genteel Englishman, a beautiful version of this childhood favourite, I still have them all.... and love to watch.. even in my 60's
I got the Whole DVD Collection of The Wind in the Willows including the dvd of the movie separately. I love David Jason AKA Mr Toad. Poop-Poop! *giggles*
You know it's funny after being raised on Peter's voice applying to one of the ditziest and most senile of chaps around here he's voicing the straight man of a group dynamic
I remember watching this on telly back in 1983/84 and used to love Wind in the willows when it came on :-) Toad is like Delboy from Only Fools and Horses in disguise - even Toad's voice and the expressions on his face remind me of Delboy's! lol
My dad used to make me watch this almost every time i visited him, and at the time it seemed foolish and old fashioned, but now its comforting to think back on it and it feels like home. hah, anyways, great story..
Quite a clumsy amphibious guy he is when he believed he was poisoned by deadly night shade berries which they were actually elderberries. I was quite sad and devastated that he would've literally died if he really ate deadly night shade or worse. To me I was hypochondriac when I believed I was poisoned by something on the grass a poisonous mushrooms, berries or flowers, I was almost frightened. In fact some fruits like apples have poison in it but only the seeds, they have cyanide, if you eat one or two seeds they won't kill you but if you a big cup of apple seeds you'll get killed by their poison. Cherries have Poison only in their seeds. If you eat one or few of them you won't get killed but if you eat a big cup full you will get killed July their poison. Grapes have no poison but only to dogs.

Rest in Peace Peter Sallis. the wind in the willows was my first introduction to such a phenomenal actor.
Síle Healy Hunt and mine too
And years later, he's recognized as the voice of Wallace from "Wallace and Gromit".
He appeared in an early Doctor Who story as well.
David Jason was the perfect voice for toad. He was my favourite ♥ so many childhood memories
Takes me back. Never knew untill I just searched that David Jason done the voice of toad.

I am still astounded by it. It is beautifully done. So much heart, soul and pure innocence . All the stuff you won’t find in films nowadays
Cinema? This aired on TV. Where did they play this in a theater?
@@Poever It was years later at my local theatre, perhaps put on just for the school. I don't know, it was arranged by the school teachers I guess
I used to watch this as a kid with my siblings, so many nice memories...!
ThiS IS MY CHILDHOOD I'M LITERALLY CRYING RIGHT NOW I'VE FOUND IT

R.I.P. Peter Sallis 😭😭😭

There's a good reason for that, Toad is voiced by David Jason
My dad used to make me watch this almost every time i visited him, and at the time it seemed foolish and old fashioned, but now its comforting to think back on it and it feels like home. hah, anyways, great story..
Ideal casting, Jason as Toad, Sallis as Ratty.
Toad doesn't half overact when he's made a foolish mistake. That's one of the reasons why he's so funny. LOL
Well berries are mighty good for you aren't they>
If Toad really ate such poisonous berries like deadly night shade that would've been suicide. I would've been really sad and cry for him.
Mr. Badger Sounds a Quite Like Lord Firth from The 1978 Film Watership Down
Oh, the drama of it all.
I've always loved toad

rest in peace micheal hordern richard pearson and peter sallis
sean mcmenamy and Richard Pearson too
If Toad really ate poisonous deadly nightshade berries by accident, he would literally die if he accidentally killed himself, I would've cry for him.
If Toad did really die, I would've cry for him.
