My nephew John born in Norwich, grew up in Lincolnshire, Lived in Iper for many years, his house about a mile from the Menin gates. John died from cancer in Iper Hospital last November, the care he received in Belgium was second to none. Iper is a special place.
My Grandfather went up that road in 1917, he was one of the lucky ones to come back, so many did not. A visit to the Menin Gate is a sobering experience.

He and his comrades believed with their souls that Hitler was EVIL, and HAD to be destroyed. This is the message of remembrance. Poland, for which we declared war in 1939, is a brother Nation to Ukraine.
