- Driver in brand new Mazda Miata lives after crashing down 400'! Welcome back to another week and today we have a car fishing job! Noticeably absent is myself obviously, as Alex did this job solo in our 75ton rotator, Big Flipper. The job came in as 800', so Alex and Vicente in the flatbed came prepared with tons of extra choker cable. Luckily, it was only 400' and he was able to do it with just the winch line plus a Bailey's synthetic 150' extension.
These mountainside car jobs are always tough, especially in the high degree heat. Alex handled this one very well, and got the car up no problem. Believe it or not, the driver himself was fine and managed to hike back up himself to call for help! Always amazed at how modern engineering protects these drivers that otherwise look deadly.
Don't forget to head to www.pepestowla.com/shop after the video and grab your cool Pepe's swag to represent your favorite tow company!

I’m the driver here. I can answer any questions you guys have. No, I was not under the influence of anything nor speeding. The incident happened due to bad visibility and large amount of sand and gravel was one the road at the time of the incident causing me to lose both steering and braking. Just happy both me and the passenger got off with barely any injuries.
Glad you got out OK.
I guess all the safety designs and features were put to use with a positive outcome.
Glad you're ok man...! That was one hell of a drop dude... You're lucky to be alive...! How fast were you going?
@@-ray-h not that fast. Our low speed let us roll off the cliff instead of launching off. That probably saved our life.
@@aphael7949 emulating Thelma and Louise is not the thing to do. Hope that you can grab another MX-5 (it did save your lives) soon and get back on that horse!
HUGE PROPS PEPE’s Crew…. Mad Respect 🫡 for what y’all do
Josh, you taught Alex well, he is an excellent PR man with the descriptions of what he is doing. Great video from start to finish, my biggest fear was Alex running into a rattler or passing out from heat. Car owner has some explaining to do to his insurance company. Glad he was okay.
Nice job Alex and Vicente and have a safe 4th...!
Awesome job Alex and Vicente. I remember climbing hills like that in Canada. No easy task. Glad Pepe's doesn't shy away from jobs like that. Can't wait to see the Sikorsky Helicopter added to Pepe's fleet.
Or he calls in Heavy D sparks with his helicopter
Happy Independence Day and stay safe out there. Alex Josh and the rest of the crew. And love your videos
True professionals. Thank you.
Best of luck out there Josh! Stay safe !
Thanks !!
Well done for Alex!! Fascinating vid Josh, thanks for posting. Stay safe out there, guys.
Much, really much impressive! The peace and security with which you work. Excellent.
VERY good job on the recovery and the video Alex!! Big Flipper is perfect for these fishing jobs because you can boom WAAAY out over the side and also back and forth to each side to get around the bad obstacles. That and whatever you hook it to is coming up no matter what!! Be safe out there!!
You’re very brave in your job. Stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏
Freakin Alex is a stud! Good job sir!
Great job Alex. Lot's of hiking with all that equipment. Always remember to stay hydrated. Thank you for sharing. Much love. Stay safe and healthy
Josh one heck of a recovery! You got a hell of a workout on this one! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Little Pepe Was Absent on this one. Alex Got a huge Workout though
I'm impressed with your physical condition. What a workout.
Not the way you want to see San Gabreil mountains! From new car to scrap in the blink of an eye.
PS - Alex definitely got his aerobic points in this day!
There were so much debris from other cars down there when I crawled out of the car. I was wonder why don’t they put some rails there when this happen quite frequently
@@aphael7949 excuses, excuses. why didn't the gubmint protect me!! this all their fault!!
Josh this reminded me of all the car fishing jobs you posted when I first started watching your channel. Great to see another one. Like you, Alex did a brilliant job. Also loved the views, and the plant life. Really enjoyable entertainment. thanks
Hey Josh.... Happy 4th...!
Likewise !
Another job well done, awesome to see how you incorporate the drone in to helping with the task at hand.
I admire the way Alex switches so easily between English and Spanish. I wish I could speak two languages well! 🇨🇦
Good job, Alex! Josh, have you semi-retired since you've become a family man? Very interesting work from all of you.
I haven't seen anyone complaining in the comments "why don't they stick to talkin' 'merican!" yet. Maybe I should stop reading here ;)
I’m guessing no other company was going down there 😂 Alex great job
Alex has my respect. Even in my best days, I couldn't hike up and down that mountain. I hope that was accelerated video in parts and not Alex showing off. I hope Josh clued you in as you began to be a rotator operator. I hear, Oh, gpt a little job up in the moutains. Just a miata, no big deal. Great editing.
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
Those sharp plants with the spikes of yellow flowers are Yuccas
Cuídate mijo, una puede haber un animal, Que Dios te cuide. Te amo. Tu abuela.
Had some fun with that one Alex!!!! Dang that was a trip or 2 and a half! beautiful scenery and a lovely dry day though for you at least! Huge thanks for sharing and huge kudos and respect for what you guys have to contend with !
Fantastic recovery 👏 Alex is the man. Has to be in great shape to do that job.😊 great job by the Pepe' s crew
“Honey! I’m going to take the car out for a spin to really see what it can do”. 4-hours later. Honey! I’m home! The car has some awesome safety features!”😂
😂😂😂😂
Is good. Wow exciting recovery. Great job Alex. Happy fourth and a boom boom boom.
Good fishing trip Alex! Lucky driver!
You really know what you’re doing😁👍good job👍love your truck and set up👍❤️😁
And Alex can do it solo!!! Pepe's is truly among the best. You guys make it look so easy. Is there anything you cannot do? (What a foolish question.)
Great narration Alex. Definitely getting more comfortable on camera. You had a great teacher
Good thing u aren’t here at 115 degrees . Spinning donuts and got out of shape . Went down the hill . Drone shows all kinds of evidence or not ! Well done !!
Alex is one tough dude. Awesome hike back up that slope, let alone the traverse down to to the wreck.
Great job Alex. Good video and commentary.
Great respect for Pepe's crew!
Good PEPE you put safety as always a that's southern ,CA plenty hills'curves
Alex very good job. You deserve a bonus for this job.
Alex was well taught by you Josh. That was a good daily workout there, going up and down the hill. Nice job guys
Nice job guys
That was a messy situation, especially because of those prickly pear shafts that let you know they were there by pricking you. That sort of reminds me of GITMO back in the '60s.
Nice fishing trip Alex, beautiful view some leg and arm exercise, gardio also, and get payed for it😁. You have to get good trekkingboots for those kind of jobs.
You need a Helicopter to lower you down to do the rigging, good job to you guys. Be careful and have a great 4th of July Be Safe!!
Great work, I would have been dead if I had to climb all the way down and back up just once but you did it twice!!! Now let me be the one to PAT YOU ON THE BACK FOR A HELL OF A JOB WELL DONE !!!!
Ya know, that driver must've had some horseshoes, 4-leaf clovers, and a lot of lucky rabbits' feet to survive that, never mind walk away!!
I don't know if he's used up all his luck, or if he should be buying some Powerball tickets....🤔🤔😁😁
OUTSTANDING JOB AND CAMERA WORK!!
Great video. Thanks.
Great job guys, all the hill climbing fair play vanc your very good, happy 4th of July to ye all at Pepe's towing , niall from lreland
really happy he taking breaks going up and down . and that the road crew helped him get up .
Fantastic job Alex! 🤩 The driver of that car owes you a case of cold beer! 🍺🍺🍺I couldn't work in that heat, I would collapse after 10 minutes!! 😅👍
Another great job, good one Alex
Damn Alex... Just watching you climb up and down the mountain in that heat and with those spikey plants jabbing you, made me get a bottle water... I wonder if the person was drifting across the street then shot over the hill... ??
Nope I have an automatic and no lsd. Bad road conditions led to lose of steering and braking
@@aphael7949 Was it at night...? and how fast were you going? Glad you're ok...!
@@-ray-h 12am. Not that fast. Just causally going down the mountain for food
I'm glad you guys have the headset😊
Left a 76 Datsun pickup in Cucamonga Canyon in 79!
Awesome Fire&Resuce got us out
While the scavanger stripped of everything and actually brought some of our personal items back to us
Airlifted out both of us out
Great work Pepe's
Semper Fi everyone
Stationed at CampPen then
Pepe's, God's gift to reclamations.
OMG ... That looks DaNgErOuS! ... I hope you charge a few extra ... Oops, my bad!, A WHOLE LOT extra for dealing with this tow!, Thanks for taking me a long! 👍🏻💀👍🏻
Love the videos of these fishing expeditions. Any thoughts to a winch with only synth line for the long ones like this? No sense dealing with heavy cable for light weight jobs, easier on equipment and personnel.
Excellent job guys
A little rubbing compound and those scratches will buff right out.😂
Nice recovery!🤟
That Was A Great Video, Ya Go Alex, & I Was Thinking Why Not Put A Safty Strap From The Cable Also Back To The Other End Of The Car, Just incase The Other Pulling End Broke Or Pulled Off , Then You Would Still Have It No Matter What, Just A Thought
👍👍👍
Alex is the man. What a mountain goat!!!
I'll never understand why there are no guard rails on such dangerous roads.
The top three causes of motor vehicle accidents in California are speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence. Following the speed limit, paying attention to the road, and driving sober go a long way in making roads -- even windy mountainous roads -- less dangerous.
Also, guardrails are installed based upon the road structure, road use, number and type of accidents, and all sorts of other details.
They really should have put guardrails there. The crew that took us to the hospital told me this happens a lot here due to wind blowing sand and other shit onto the road
@@aphael7949 so glad you're safe
@@anitaholmes8201 well said, but accidents, through no fault of the driver, do happen
@@mikemmikem2758 And even if the accident is the fault of the driver, the guard rails are there to limit loss of life. I was also surprised to see no rails along this section.
Good thing you aren't here in Texas were it's been over a 100 degrees
Oh it gets triple digits here too. Not looking forward to that lol
@@PepesTowingService I hear you
Fuuug! I feel for you bro. Good cardio tho👌🏽 Keep up the Great work! You a badass😎
Awesome!!!! Enjoyed
Sorry, Josh, but I kinda like the way, Alex, kinda enumerate his actions with his recovery. Pretty soft speaking voice🤙🤙🤙🤙
Couldn’t agree more. He has the voice of an angel. Even when he speaks spanish
@christophernavarro2877 , shows me that he doesn't gave a aggressive personality🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
@@loquatdumplingI’m sure he’s only aggressive when he needs to be and I like that

great job, man. sometimes you just have to do the hard things..
Be safe 🙏
Great job , single handed,
Very impressive!.
Fabulous job Alex
Say hi to papi chulo joe ❤
Great job, fantastic v video and you won't need to go to the gym tonight. Maybe a massage parlor instead
Maybe not the record, but quite a workout. Nicely done.
Them Yuccas hurt when they poke you and hurts for days after, think its like they have poison on them or something ! Great job !
Another awesome job 🤓🙋♂️👍 , ps I'm glad the driver was ok , but i bet they needed new underwear ! Must have been a wild ride !
I’m actually pretty ok after. I had to climb up the cliff in the dark barehanded to get help for my friend. No signal plus no guardrail almost got us killed
Glad your both ok !
it was a nice day for miata fishing
nice job :o)
Great video, maybe some brush pants for these kind of retrieval’s would protect your legs.
I was almost out of breath just watching you climb back up the hill.
You can do it mang!
Very lucky to be alive!!
Nice recovery guys put I think I could have beaten your total time by 2 minutes and 25 seconds…stay safe out there !!!!
exquisite vista!
It would be helpful to have a portable winch to provide a long line with smaller cable to at least aid the person doing the climb. Some type of cart to roll down and back up at least part of the way to carry a man and gear would also be helpful. Somebody is going to get in trouble in the heat on the climb.
Hard work !!!
Have you thought about going with synthetic winch line? Maybe even just on the auxiliary winches?
Not legal for chp requirements
Buen video de la naturaleza
That'll buff out - peesa cake ! !
I will just lay on the car and ride it up or someone better be calling Squad 51 to come get me!!! Great Job!!!
There was no joy on that ride down the mountainside. I hope the driver learned something.
Big Flipper - I don't see it ? Drone Camera really helps. Body cam also worked well. Alex's crane extension & rotation worked
Lol you don’t see big flipper? How do you miss a giant rotator in half the video
Viva Pepe's
astonishing
How many times do you have to fish cars that went off the road. I think this is the third one I've seen you guys do
Question. When you pulled all your cable in and had to go back down and unhook the extra cable and rehook your winch line could you have just put a snatch block on the end of your cable and run the rope though the pulley on the snatch block and over to the rollback and just pulled with the rollback to avoid having to go down the slope again?
"They said 800 feet, but..."
cop math.
Could you replace 1 of the steel cables with a longer synthetic line for these jobs?
Buena Alex!!
One good idea is bring your drone that way you can see how much line you have left on the spool while you are at the end of the line, then when you have time see how many soft shackles can be on the drone ,and how many hard shackles you can put on the drone.
Where would you put the drone ? You need both hands to hike down plus carry all the equipment. And the wireless remote doesn’t reach that far so what purpose would it even serve. That’s why you have a second person up top to physically see and communicate via headsets.
I would have tried about when you stop to take a break, I don't have a drone so I don't know how run one or know how far away you need to be .thank you for answering me.
