No, I'm not thinking about how Yankees love listening to the sound of their own voices, nor am I thinking about how Yankees love to tell the locals "how we do it up North". What I'm thinking of is how Yankees love to have water squirting up in the air, an example of which you can see in the background of the lakeshore scenes in this video. If you come down to South Florida you will see thousands of fountains, ponds and lakes with various nozzle arrangements, squirting water up into the air. 99% of this artistic plumbing is done at the request and expense of Yankee transplants, which is fine with Southerners because the Yankees are paying for it. In addition, it is very common for these streams of water to have red, green, or blue flood lights shining into them at night. Also very common to see the same lighting effects shining up at night into palm trees and up the sides of various buildings, such as country clubs, condominiums - and even some private homes. This amuses Southerners and is a subject of great entertainment and speculation. The general consensus is, this is what Yankees think must make Florida into a "Tropical Paradise", whatever that is. (After about 170 years of fighting snakes, gators, snapping turtles, wilting heat, mosquitos, sandspurs, stinging nettle and attempting to make grass grow on hot sand, most Southerners don't know much about Florida actually being a Tropical Paradise.) My own observations suggest a true Florida Southerner would rather sit on a lakeside dock, in the dark - and listen to the fish feed, the frogs croak and the gators grunt. But, to each his own.
