Excellent timing again for when it comes to releasing your always very interesting videos, perfect accompaniment to the Sunday morning coffee! Now I just need to get back out to the garage and carry on trying to learn and practise some basic TIG welding......it's not going great!
@@larrycluness5438 That’s exactly why I want to make the TH-cam videos, to encourage and inspire. It’s really important to keep learning craft based skills and using them. Just keep practicing and watching videos to learn from them. You have already made something happen by getting the welder and having the imagination to do it in the first place. You need to believe that you can do it before you start and you will find that you can. Practice and patience you will improve !
@@jacohauptfleisch935 Thank you. It is actually a different edit of a video from two years ago. There are lots more videos like this in the back catalog on the channel and yes there are going to be more to come !
Thank you for showing us how you make those, that’s a lot of metal to move in all directions on such a small buck. I was surprised that it didn’t split in more planes as the corners are so sharp. Well done that man. 👌👍👏
@@stephenlmckeown1439 Brass is very malleable but work hardens quickly so it is important to keep it well annealed. There is some good TH-cam about. Henri Selmer Saxophone in Paris and what they can do with brass and then what John Coltrane did with it ! So that sort of puts it into perspective I’m just making some little trinkets for a car and then they are making something that transcends the soul . @@moritzhummel9747 You will find many different types of these receivers on Italian cars usually machine stamped and made from stainless steel. For some reason Maserati made their own in brass I think they were stamped out with a male and female die set by hand. I don’t think it was mechanised. The headlight bezels and door handles were bought in and are actually used on Alfa Romeo. But all other chrome was hand made in house.
@@marksitaliangarage Fiat 124 Spider (sorry for my lack of experience in higher-profile species) ones are definitely not made from stainless steel - unless you buy ss remakes. I had mine powder coated in black to not show off 😀 The ss remakes have welded seams in the sharp edges as well, looks as if they are largely hand made, too.

@@marksitaliangarage fair comment about those two gentlemen but I bet they can’t tune a pair of Weber DCOE carburettors like you😂😂
Amazing job, it looks original.

Great job!
I'm astonished these are different from the Fiat type (which would have made life easier...).

If you start with a bit less material, it will be easier to move.
