Mark's Italian Garage
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 ต.ค. 2021
Mark Devaney is best known for his work with FIAT Dino repair and restoration but as you will see his interest doesn’t stop there. Obsession with classic ABARTH started with his Autobianchi A112 ABARTH, in fact the whole Italian car interest started with that one ! Now heavily involved with classic Maserati restoration and Ferrari. There’s plenty to see on the channel mechanical and body repair. Manufacture of body work and replication of missing parts.

The Villa Necchi visit in Milan.
Angelo and Gigina Necchi left La Scala and emerged in to the Milanese fog, so thick that it obscured the Duomo. The headlights of their Isotta Fraschini cast an eerie glow but for an unknown reason they gave their driver instructions to leave without them. Walking through the fog they became lost and found themselves in an undeveloped suburb. A derelict garden a real waste ground caught your imagination there was a for sale sign and the next day it was purchased. On that night and with this decision you became Milanese. Architect.Piero Portaluppi was instructed to deliver your Villa a minute country estate within the city. To be built in the new Italian Rationalism style with no constraints on the budget. This is the Villa Necchi and I have been a little bit in love with it ever since I saw it in Luca Guabagnino’s film. “I AM LOVE “ with Tilda Swindon. Now you can actually visit, so I did.

Auto Moto d’Epoca was known as the Padova show but it made the move to Bologna last year. Last year was a great success and this year was even better. As much as I miss Padova I am enjoying exploring Bologna. I took the Leica with me. So this is sort of a photo essay. Just my photos. But I did take some video so next week we will show you that with a little bit of voice over.

The Black Ghibli is rather special. It’s a 4.9 pre SS special order with tobacco interior. A restoration was started by a previous owner but never finished many parts are missing and a lot of the work on reassembly has needed to be revised because it really isn’t good enough. In fact to be honest it looks like it was just thrown together so that it looked more complete. This was the reason for ...

FIAT Dino Spider rear floor pans are shorter than those of the Coupe. They are rather valuable to rust and tend to corrode from the inside due to leaks from the roof. With this in mind I have decided to develop my tooling for greater detail and repeti...

Thank you very much for bringing this jewel to our attention. High on my to do (visit) list in 2025. Mark, with all respect: It would be so easy to learn how to pronounce Italien names 😉 To give you a hint: (Auto)Bianchi, Lamborghini, Spaghetti -> Necchi. I know, it is very german, to point out (Americans would consider it as rude). But as you have such deep interest not only in technical things but also in culture and art, it might be a thing to consider 🙂

@marksitaliangarage Absolutely I love my R4 and people love to see it out and about too. Mine has Cibie Oscars on the front and R5 Alpine wheels just to make her a little bit more of an individual. Just done the Alpine Tour in September with my twin brother in a Lancia Fulvia nearly 4,000 kilometers in a week in a 53 year old car trouble free. @@VirtualGuth Glad you enjoyed it. It is a bit overwhelming, I usually do it over two days. The first day parts hunting the second day activity looking at the cars. The show has actually got a little bit bigger and the new location is under used so there is potential to expand ! Both phone and camera ran out of charge so there was more that I didn’t get to show. But also lots more that I just didn’t cover like that Ferrari 250 lusso which is actually a car that I love. I just was more captivated with the ABARTH and the green Mistral. Lots more on the channel to enjoy have a look and let me know what you think?
@@marksitaliangarage I’ve actually watched a number of your other videos. Though they are well beyond my budget, I have admired cars like the Mistral since I was a young boy - thanks to a little book titled “The Golden Guide to Sports Cars” that was given to me back in the early 1970s. I actually still have that book all these years later. The videos of you working on those cars are mesmerizing and I’m truly envious of your skills. (By the way, I too loved that green example in particular and was happy to see it again in this second video from the show.)
@@VirtualGuth Great stuff. You don’t need to own these cars to appreciate them. In fact it’s probably better to enjoy them from a distance without having the burden of responsibility of owning them ! Good to hear you are enjoying the channel. Keep watching, plenty more on its way.
I found a 1967 Alfa Romeo Guilia 1.3 Super that was modified to 2l on Hemmings website, that the owner says is the best one in the US, and it was listed at $45k, and it's Gorgeous! I don't think its been sold yet, so he may have to lower the price!
Same color too, dark blue!
@@georgewallerlll496 I get the impression that they have a bit of a cult following but how that translates into market value I don’t know. I think the 105 is a great car and there are still plenty of good ones left. On my list but way to many projects already so not just yet !
I checked out the website of the car dealer you were showing, SilvAuto, and they have some Beautiful Cars for sale. I've found a few that I may be interested in, but I live in the US, and I'm about to move out of the country, so I may just give a down payment until I've moved, possibly to Italy! I didn't see that Abarth Simca on their website, so I'm assuming that it may be sold? But I did see most of the other cars from your video on their website.
I'm looking into that Lancia Beta next to the Fiat Dino from the showroom, a very cool car!

Great video Mark, as always. I do love to see old stuff being mended. But then again..I had a Ghibli for 20 years..look at those fan blades (actually yours look much better than the original ones on mine), no matter what nick the motors are in, they're never going to move much air. Especially if there's an air-con condenser in the way. Arguably the best thing I did (for peace of mind anyway) was to install a SPAL 16" single modern fan in the middle of the radiator and never worry again. Those nIce-but-ancient Ducellier motors and salad-plate fan-blades went into a box for the next owner.
