Positive or negative, the buzz train is full throttle and that's all marvel really wanted at this point i think, I'll give Feige and team a vote of confidence on it because the announcement looks so obviously odd and money-grabby, they wouldn't have announced it if they weren't able to prove that they could back it up with a great idea, but that's later, for now this just helps revitalize attention on the MCU so hopefully the 2025 slate performs well in the meantime. Surely RDJ isn't going to be Doom after Secret Wars, but I think the only way that it would make sense to me, that allows RDJ to give a great performance, is that he is not a Tony variant. So he is a Doom variant (maybe the one from the F4 universe) that just happens to look exactly like Tony. He likely ends up in the 616 after the end of F4 somehow.

While Thanos wasn't in the Infinity Saga, we still got introduced to the Infinity Stones throughout the films leading to Infinity War/Endgame, we knew “someone" is coming for earth in the first Avengers film. I want Doctor Doom to have a strong presence, and strong motivation while meeting him at the end of the Multiverse Saga. (Taking out Disney+ Shows) there are just currently 3 films before Doomsday and Secret Wars.

I think it happened before in invincible Iron man, but I can't remember. I think the MCU is going with the demon in the armor theory. I am happy with Robert playing doom. He's a great actor.
You know what would be hard? The movie starts with the footage of Winter Soldier deleting Tony’s parents… But, they in Latveria… and this particular Tony variant stowed away in the trunk. Make him much younger, like 5 or 6. He’s a baby genius; totally plausible. And just so the plot is completed, Bucky opens the trunk to find Tony Stark Baby & raises his gun… but is stopped by nearby townsfolk who heard the commotion. That way Downey Mama Doom has that connection with the people of LatzTown, because they literally saved his life; so he would save theirs. This 5hit writes itself. Love what y’all do. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

So here’s the thing avengers endgame came out 2019 so it’s been five years real time. So my theory/prediction/let’s see how this plays out version of all this would be. We do not see his face in the first movie doomsday. If story wise, they revealed the face. It would have to be either at the end or in the second movie. Now the problem I have with revealing the face is the following, there would be no point because nobody knows who he is so there’s no need to reveal the face, unless this Victor Von Doom belongs to the fantastic four universe and the only people that would know him would be the fantastic four but yet even still it doesn’t make sense to reveal the face because the fantastic four is not an origin story it’s a story of them already existing.
I have a third option I came up with while I was making my previous comment. Doomsday could get away with showing Robert Downey Jr.’s face if the majority of the movie takes place without interacting with the other characters in other words anything and everything that is building up in the movie has absolutely nothing to do with characters that would recognize the face. So if there’s like a chunk of the movie involving the fantastic four and Robert Downey Jr. I’m OK with that, but if they start interacting with known characters, it would complicate things.
To me, Doom was always basically Iron Man crossed with Dr Strange. Technology x Magic with the Ego of Tony and the detachment of Stephen. All that to set this up: forget Magic Mike, it’s time for Magic Tony!
Yeah it's silly. Victor Von Doom would never wear Tony Stark sunglasses. It's one hundred percent going to be a multiverse version of Tony Stark, not Victor Von Doom proper. Here's the ONLY way I think that COULD be interesting - they do a full multiversal take on a "Dark Avengers" concept and the Doom reveal is simply the centerpiece of a full roster of evil versions of other past Avengers. I haven't fully thought that through, but I keep thinking about Hydra Cap being an easter egg in D&W and I'm making some weird connections. Even if they do manage to make some interesting Secret Wars scenario out of this stunt casting, I do think it's an absolute disgrace that we're going to see a multiversal variant of Doctor Doom before actually seeing a proper version in the MCU. Ask fans of The Mandarin how long they were holding their breath after Iron Man 3, you think the MCU has that long to circle back to a proper depiction of a Latverian Victor Von Doom? You think we're EVER going to see a proper MCU Green Goblin, or a MODOK who runs AIM? Being a fan of Marvel villains is hard in the MCU.
By the way, I don’t think that there would really be that much of a conflict because everybody knows that Tony Stark is dead. So for the other characters in the movie, they know it’s not their Tony Stark.
Superior Ironman - stark as doom, And at the end of the storyline the real doom shows up and stomps out the fake doom - there’s a lot they can do, I think an evil version of stark as doom makes sense in the MCU - not so much in the comics, but in the MCU as stark as always been the main character
No way they deliver a Secret Wars movie without Tony Stark and Steve Rogers being there. It would be super lame otherwise, imo. And honestly, what they should actually do is use this as the perfect opportunity to finally recast both roles. Give us new actors as Ironman and Captain America, do not have any characters acknlowledge the fact that Victor Von Doom looks like Tony Stark, and you immediately remove any sort of reservations fans might have about RDJ playing Doctor Doom.
