Michael was 21 when Off The Wall album was released, and he was already a bonafide legend. And here I am, 21, wasting my valuable time by spending 24 hours on social media 🤦♂️
😅😂 It's all good! We're all jamming out to MJ as a beautiful community. His music has brought together people in a beautiful way. But, social media is definitely destroying our minds. On the bright side, we're able to connect through social media and share our appreciation for MJ. On the dark side... our minds are melting 🫠 because of it 😢

Off the Wall is MJ's coming-of-age album. He was 21, and Rock, as in "rock n roll," was an old African American euphemism for sex, which was sung about in many old blues songs. As African Americans and Afro-Caribbean people invented almost every popular musical genre in the last 100 years, a lot of our sayings were used in music, and we love singing double entendres in music. MJ is keeping the tradition alive here. This was after his first taste of freedom from his family when he was living in NY and was filming the Wiz with his fave, Miss Diana Ross. He was so cute then too...
21 year old Michael is soo cute!! He looks soo happy during this time and his smile makes me happy 😊😍 he never smiled that much as the years went by :( I didn't know that about the title but this song was actually written by Rod Temperton not Michael haha, great reaction 😁
There you guys are!! Missed your reactions on TH-cam!!! ❤️ If I‘m not mistaken you’re even more excited and more into it now that you’re back, love it!! Fun fact: Michael filmed "Rock with You" as well as "She’s out of my Life" on the same day!! 😊

Great reaction. You should follow it up with a reaction to Rock With You live in 1981 on the Diana Ross special (the one where Michael wears a white jacket). Another one is live in 1987 Bad World Tour in Yokohama.

Our man1 Always representin'! It wouldn't be an MJ video unless we saw you in the comments. We love and appreciate you, my man! We'll definitely do some interviews in the future. Maybe do like a livestream or something? That way, we can interact more with you guys in real-time while watching!
Actually off the wall, was the very last iconic album of the disco era. Disco was on the Jacksons group repertoire for a long time. There was an infamous incident just when off the wall was about to be released or shortly after, where white people, who were sick of disco burned a bunch of disco records. In front of s store I believe. It was a big hateful act . Also the black artists were dominant in disco . And that might also frightened the white audience. So off the wall has this song : burn this disco down, I heard in an interview that this was so to end the album and an era. Recognising that historic event in the event where disco records were burned away. A shift in music was necessary. But maybe that's why MTV was racist. They thought the public wants white and not other. But don't take every word for 💯% you should Google it or look on you tube. Also you should react to the movie :from Motown to off the wall by spike lee. Awesome documentary
Love the knowledge drop! Thank you so much! Can't believe the turmoil and backlash this album received at the time. MJ was always a fighter. And his music transcends such bigotry and hatred.
1st time visitor - great reaction & discussion. And U guys are such a cute couple - you must've made a really beautiful happy baby. Also, unexpected - - that Accent (on Him). That is one Heavy Canadian accent! LOL. brings back memories.

Hi Honey & Brown. God bless you two and little Moonwalker. It so good to see you guys back again. 🥰🥰🥰 Thanks so much for this reaction of "Rock With You". The song is one of the greatest hits of his solo album "Off The Wall" where Michael just broke out with the coolest disco songs - he injected new sounds and life into the disco era with "Off The Wall" ... dancing to MJ's music was so cool and fun. Michael thought his album was really going to make it big and win awards as it should have, however it did not get as much accolades and awards so feeling dissapointed, Michael set his next album goal that every track would be a hit. (Thriller) Michael was ready to sing songs with new sound - no longer the young teen Michael - he was 21 and ready to break out with what he wanted to write and create with his heart and soul. ♥♥ Guys, I have several videos for the Off The Wall era - if you catch them on my channel --check out the Rock With You performance mix and other mixes for other songs on the album. I mixed several eras of MJ performing "Rock With You" song live - My favorite is during the Bad era. 🥰🥰 Thanks again guys. Looking forward to more uploads - keep bringing more MJ corner - there is still so much Honey that you must see and experience. God bless and keep you both and little Moonwalker well. :-) :-) Michael Jackson is forever King of Pop and forever innocent :-) :-) ♥♥🙏🙏👑👑

So glad you guys are back and you look well and happy - nice!! I think I have to correct you guys on disco - this was at the very end of the disco era. The "Disco Sucks!"-movement had their big riot, almost to the day, a month before Off The Wall was released. This was a primarily white culture kind of movement, a back-lash to POC culture taking up more space, both from record sales, radio channels and also the discoteques - the dancing clubs that had taken over where dancing was something one could do on one's own, not only through couple dancing. Although linedancing was big in disco, as well, so on one's own but together. Roller discos was huge! Not too surpricing, white people weren't glad and felt threatened. However, the disco era was sort of on it's way out for other reasons as well. As usually happens with creativity under rule of capitalism, disco had started to become stale and repetetive in order to create a format that costs less to create but maximizes profits. Rock With You, however, became a rollerdisco anthem. It went to no 1 in the Bilboard 100. The clean, fresh and sensual sound was not stale in any sense of the word and the song creates rushes to the dancefloor to this very day. The intro is epic. Dancewise it was written for the dance the Rock, this really cool and groundbreaking puertorican dancestyle from back then, which combined the disco groove with different latinodances and their sensualities. I think it's imortant to point out that Michael Jackson made sure NOT to call Off the Wall disco. MJ didn't cathegorize music in that way; partly because of the racial connotations that carried/carries, partly precisely because of this, MJ didn't do formula music. And the music on the album has influences from disco, funk, pop, soul and more. Also, I think we in back-sight like to put on a nostalgic layer on older eras which sort of simplyfies them but also makes them very plessant to envision. In reality, stuff is always much more multi-layered and complicated. In Moonwalk, Michael writes that Rock with You was the type of new sound they created for MJ as a solo artist, a sound that had to differ from the Jacksons, "Hard words to spit out, considering how hard we'd worked to become the Jacksons, but Quincey knew what I meant, and together we created an album that reflected our goal. Rock with You ... was perfect for me to sing, and to move to." MJ writes that Temperton had written it for a more relentless, get-down arrangement but "Quincey softened the attack and slipped in a synthesizer that that sounded like a conch shell's insides on a beach." MJ also felt that songwise, it needed a more natural sound than Off the Wall, another up-tempo single from the same album. "I felt that if you were having a party, those two songs would get people in the door, and the harder boogie sngs would send everyone home in a good mood." "You know, so much up-tempo dance music is threatening, but I liked the coaxing, the gentleness taking a shy girl and letting her shed her fears rather than force them out of her." This might sound a bit stereotypical genderwise, but I think often in social life (although never on the stage), Michael would identify alot with that shy girl and the gentleness she needed, rather than some cocky guy showing her the ropes. I like how you lift up the music film, because you are absolutely correct about it being a thought-through esthetical vision of the feel and sound of the track. I haven't really had that put in words before, but it's very true and as you say that wasn't given at all back then. Same with She's Out of My Life. They are like really specialized stage performances with their own stage sets. However, the music film usually talked about from the album, is Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, where esthetically this is still the case, together with them using the video format, pushing technology of the time that couldn't be done on a stegeset. Really making a video. This was very new thinking and ambitious for a music film. Then when Can You Feel It? comes out as a film from the Triumph album, it's a game changer full on. Oh, and of course MJ is like super hot exactly for being able to be sensuall, both in bodylanguage and tone, with charm - a wink and a smile - exceptional charisma without being full of himself. Locking eyes with you long enough for you to melt but not long enough to "eat you up". Inviting, not intruding. Sex on legs.
This is why we love doing these discussions. It's comments like this. You sparked such intrigue and curiosity within us! We learn so much! Thank you... beyond words thank you for this. We're both so interested in the history of era's and music. And this era must've been so hype! I feel like most fans aren't too familiar with the "Off the Wall" era. So, this is so informative to really deep dive into the backstory of MJ throughout these times. Thank you, so much!
Welcome back. I know you (Donovan) already know a bunch of Michael Jackson songs already but some of the songs I'm going to list you may not know. Which makes the reaction slightly more fun as you both can discover new MJ songs. Some you 100% will know, I just would like for you to show your wife the songs. These are some of my favorites that I think they would be really good songs to react to. 1. Michael Jackson - On The Line 2. Michael Jackson - Loving You (Orginal Version) 3. Michael Jackson - I'm So Blue 4. Michael Jackson - Streetwalker (This song has a dance in the Michael Jackson: The Experience game, could make a cool reaction) 5. Michael Jackson - Baby Be Mine 6. Michael Jackson - Love Never Felt So Good (Without Justin Timberlake) 7. Michael Jackson - Chicago 8. Michael Jackson - Hold My Hand Ft. Akon 9. Michael Jackson - Sunset Driver (The dance from the game "Michael Jackson: The Experience" would be a cool reaction) 10. Michael Jackson - Tabloid Junkie (Lyric Video) 11. Michael Jackson - Money (Once again, the dance from the game could be a cool reaction) 12. Michael Jackson - Got The Hots (Demo) It's a ton more of course but I'm just naming songs I think are really underrated. I wanted to name songs from his unreleased album called Farewell My Summer Love as I feel basically every song from it is extremely underrated. I also wanted to name a lot of Jackson 5/The Jacskons songs that are really underrated but this comment is already too long. Plus I know that you guys proabably can't get around to reacting to all of these. But maybe a few. Congratulations on the baby btw 🎉
Oh wow! Thank you so much. This is actually super helpful. It'll be so cool to react to such underrated songs by MJ! Most of these I haven't heard. So, I am so excited. Thank you so much for taking the time to write out a list. We truly appreciate it! Much love from the both of us!
@@honey.brown.nerdrealmIf you ever need any more recommendations, I'm here😂I know literally every song Michael was ever apart of including unreleased songs that leaked not too long ago to the earliest Jackson 5 demos. A lot of hidden gems are in his catalog. But I know I already gave enough recommendations. Thanks for replying to my comment🙏🏾

@@honey.brown.nerdrealm Oh, gosh, thanks! Much love ❤🌻
1. Michael Jackson - On The Line
2. Michael Jackson - Loving You (Orginal Version)
3. Michael Jackson - I'm So Blue
4. Michael Jackson - Streetwalker (This song has a dance in the Michael Jackson: The Experience game, could make a cool reaction)
5. Michael Jackson - Baby Be Mine
6. Michael Jackson - Love Never Felt So Good (Without Justin Timberlake)
7. Michael Jackson - Chicago
8. Michael Jackson - Hold My Hand Ft. Akon
9. Michael Jackson - Sunset Driver (The dance from the game "Michael Jackson: The Experience" would be a cool reaction)
10. Michael Jackson - Tabloid Junkie (Lyric Video)
11. Michael Jackson - Money (Once again, the dance from the game could be a cool reaction)
12. Michael Jackson - Got The Hots (Demo)
It's a ton more of course but I'm just naming songs I think are really underrated.
We've already recorded 4 videos. So, after those are uploaded, we will definitely use your list as a reference point. Thank you again!
@@ThrowbackMusic We will definitely use you as a reference! You are the best!!!

Hello guys I really love your reactions to Michael ❤ I was wondering if you only react to music or you'd be open to check out some of his interviews too? Cause there are some great interviews like the one from 1987 and 1983 that really show his personality 😊
Hello! Thank you so much for your comment and taking time out of your day to watch our video. We truly appreciate it!
This is the "MJ Corner"! So, anything Michael is always welcomed! Any particular interview we should check out from those years you mentioned?!
Thank you so much for the recommendation!
@@honey.brown.nerdrealm yayy so happy! My favorite is the one called "Michael Jackson unauthorized interview 1983", it's the most adorable interview, him just being himself, never seen Michael so happy ❤ before the crazy rumors and the persecution against him started
@@Anaabella-ey1 Finding it... adding it! 😃 😊
