  • Easily one of the most recognizable off-road recovery YT channels, Matt Wetzel has brought a massive amount of attention to this industry. We have worked with Matt from when his channel was around 50k subs, and it has been awesome watching it become what it is today. On this episode, we promise you are going to hear things about Matt that you have never heard. This is one you don't want to miss.

I think it was a loss that you moved on from Matt's trouble in school and how he moved through it and the value he got being able to solve problems. I think it is really important for the young folks that struggle, knowing it can get better.

I think guys like Matt are great ambassador's for the recovery industry. Along with Rory and others, they've taken the safety side to another level. I saw a steel cable snap years ago and it's stuck in my brain ever since. Together with Yankum Ropes and other companies, y'all have worked side by side to develop the tools and equipment to really improve not only they're ability to do these recoveries better, but to make it so much safer for everyone out doing this stuff as well. While there's still some old schoolers out there who don't see the benefits, I think in time the advancement of the technology and reduction of injuries will change a lot of peoples minds. These off road recovery YT channels are a big part of showcasing this technology in real life situations and are definitely a benefit to the towing and recovery industry as a whole by showing that these products not only work, but they work better than the old methods in almost every situation. Thanks for doing what you do!

I identify with Matt on the school nightmare. I took it one step further, the guidance counselor sat me down and explained to me that they had nothing to offer me. I was the one you didn’t want me in your class not because I was disruptive, but if I happened to be in class I would sleep through it. Never turned in the first homework assignment but aced every test. I missed 54 days of school in tenth grade. I majored in shop and gym. Quit school the second day of eleventh grade ( didn’t go the first day) and went to work. Never got my GED and went on to have a very successful career as a commercial/industrial electrician renovating schools!

I have watched MOOR for quite a while. Before the Morvair and the Off Road wrecker. My school and work experience are similar to Matt's. I was smart, but not a good student. I solved math and other school work my own way and teachers didn't often get it. I have worked in many industries and ran my own DJ/sound company and electrical contracting business. I now work as an Auditorium Manager for a school district. Being different, can be harder, but once you find your niche, and work hard at it, things work out. I'm older, but look forward to retiring and being able to work on cars and trucks in my own shop. I have raced a 5.0 Mustang and have modified several 4X4's but living in the suburbs don't have time or room...Nice to hear Matt's back story.

Around the 20 ish minute mark, Matt described my dad too, when we went on a trip, the trip was planned to just about where we would even get fuel, so if you needed to go, do it when we were getting fuel.

I may not relate to Matt's Religion, but what I have seen with his "promoter" Capabilities is his 1st Off Road Wrecker Games and this year's Off Road Games. What I do like about Matt, is his giving soul. Approximately 2 months after the games he donates over $100,000.00. I especially liked the Park he helped to build for Handicap children. He does a lot of humanitarian things and I believe he will continue to do so.

I love the content put out by Matt and his crew. I've learned a lot about recovery and the products available because of his channel. I am better at recovering stuck vehicles now just because he pushes awareness of things like not using a hitch ball and staying out of the "triangle of death". Thank you Matt, for all the content and i hope we get to meet and wheel together one day.
