I have been a vocalist for 15 years. I was a classically trained singer before that. I can confirm it is really hard. Gutterals alone took me about 4 years to figure out totally. Even then, it took me even longer to actually master. Gotta be pretty dedicated and passionate to reach certain levels.
Thank you for the perspective! I think it’s easy for people to assume extreme vocals are just “yell and growl like a dog really loud” and forget it actually is really complex. So thank you for posting this and giving some insight!
That pitch shift at the end is actually just mouth manipulation. Basically he's doing a one tone mid scream. Keeping his mouth more closed gets him that low tone and when he pitches up and back down you see his mouth do the same. He gets higher, mouth gets more open. That last pitch he does is basically that one toned scream I talked about at the beginning. Super fun stuff you can do with just your mouth during metal vocals, but glad you guys caught it
