Hey Friends! I'm back! I forgot to mention one tip when purchasing on amazon - ALWAYS scroll down to the reviews and look for the Customer Photos of the products! Often times with pens, people will upload a photo of their lettering using those pens so it can help you to see if they're achieving the look that you are hoping to get with the pens! It can also help you make sure you're getting the right pen (and not a similar looking pencil or something!). Thanks again for watching & being so supportive - you all are the best!
I really APPRECIATE the detail that you provide regarding the real differences between pens. As a beginner leftie, it’s super challenging to nail down exactly what to use. Your lettering guides are amazing! 🤗⭐️🤗
I've always wondered about the difference between pentel touch and pentel sign, and I never found anything about it I'm glad that someone finally made a video about this thank you :3
Thank you so much for this video! I wanted to buy one of these and didn't know what the differences between them are - now I can make an informed purchase 😁
I'm so glad you made this video! It's super helpful! I've been confused about which was which and wondering about the differences between them. Thank you for the wonderful videos! 😊
There is also the pentel "brush sign pen artist" which is a real brush but it is a MICRO brush, very thin. It has the same shimmer as mentioned but the pens are all black and the color is on a foil band around the cap and Japanese lettering. Love those also! BTW the shimmer you see is because the pen body is made with recycled micro plastics that pollute the ocean otherwise, it's part of their recycology line 😉
I bought the brush set from Amazon, and I ended up with the right ones, thankfully. They came in the same box as the felt tips, but the box says "Sign Pen Brush Flexible Point" (if that helps anyone with Amazon purchases...)
last night i went to Uniqlo and found a t-shirt with Pentel Sign Pen graphic on it (no kidding). I considered to buy the t-shirt but on the second thought I feel it's rather weird because I don't go to lettering community meetings. Nobody will understand why I would wear a t-shirt with marker graphic on it. But until I watched your video, I made a guess that the sign pen on the t-shirt must be different from my Pentel touch pens, and the pen must be popular. My first question is why it's so popular to be featured on a t-shirt, and the second is what its differences from Pentel touch. Then I found your video. Thank you, I can continue working now haha
I just got the black one off Aliexpress and I LOVE this pen/marker! The flexible nib makes hand lettering amazing---just be careful though, these can leak a bit of ink...or at least mine did ;) Love this video :)
I love these pens also. The trick to the tombow pen is slower strokes, which may not be your thing, but that’s the trick to avoid the streaking. Great video. :)
The Japanese name for the brush pen is the Pentel Fude Touch. The kana on the pen says fude. Basically, these are repackaged for the US but they don’t bother changing the mold for the pen bodies at all.
How to Hand Letter No problem! I purchased mine from a site that specializes in Japanese market pens so they list theirs as Fude Touch. Fude is also a specific type of lightweight brush pen. The Fudenosuke is also another example of a Fude Pen. :)
I also got the wrong set (which I do like but I was still sad ) and I want to get the brush ones but I have to order from Amazon because you can't find them where I live :/
Hi Thank You for every thing you do, really! ...I have watched your videos comparing the small brush pens and I understand confusion now...when you click your Pentel Fude link to amazon it links you to a product in cylinder But it says “Felt Tip”?
The reason for two names for the same pen is because they are intended for different markets, for example usa vs europe, many pens from various companies are like this
I got a the shimmery pen for back to school but it started leaking right after an hour or two idk why it has a little hole on the holding side of the pen and I can’t get a grip on why it does that can someone help me please
My question is, what's the difference between the pentel brush sign pen and the pentel touch? I bought mine from a store separately and some are touch and some are brush sign. I can totally tell that with the touch I can write bigger and there seems to be a bigger difference on the thickness of the pen in comparison to the brush sign pen... I would much rather prefer the touch, but how can I be sure that I will receive them and not the other ones? :D
Hi, I love your channel and videos! I am just beginning in lettering. I was wondering if you recommended a water brush and watercolour or brush pens for beginners? ❤️
Thank you so much I was so confused until you made this video ! Thank you SO much this was very helpful for me!! Also it was an AWESOME video!!👌🏼👌🏼😍😍😍😍❤❤
Yes! I totally agree - like some pastels! There is a pen on jetpens website called the Zebra Funwari pen which is really similar and they have some muted colors! Last time I ordered they were out of stock of almost everything but I tried the light gray & really liked it! Thanks for watching!
i have the pentel brush and i hate it so bad it's really hard and the rounded letters get ugly af with it im pretending to buy one of the fudenosuke tombow pens, i hope itll be way better cause i needed a small tip pen also this sign brush pen is already with the tip to the side and just bad, not allowing me to write with accuracy and i havent used it that much tbh, i barely use it
I found this touch pen in fnac and I didn't know them, I tried and I loved it! I'm happy to find your video about them and that you like them as well. 😊
Thanks so much again for posting a video about the difference in these pens! This video just came at the right time as I was about to buy more pentel pens! I am one of your followers on Instagram (@zandy_zuzu) who was asking you about this. :) I appreciate all your videos so much!
I haven't! They do ghost a bit on my thinner paper (like my bullet journal) where you can see them from the other side, but I don't have an issue with them actually bleeding through the paper. I could see how that would happen with the pentel sign pen if I were to write really slow though! Hope that helps!
Hello, there is a third "sign pen" from pentel that is a real brush and allow way more stroke variations, i found a red one on amazon france the rest were out of stock sadly. they all come in a black body with a ring around the pen cap telling the ink color. its full name is Pentel brush sign pen artist ultra fine. Here are 2 pics I took of it imgur.com/a/GcFXySa

How to Hand Letter i just bought the wrong pen... bu i just removed the plastic on the brush and bend them 😂 bamm magic
I can think of so many ways Pentel could have made this easier for customers.
Who else gets exited when a youtuber shows an art supply that you have? Idk why but I do ;-;
SAME!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind comment! I'm so glad it's helpful for you! I wish I had more lefty tips... someday I hope! Thanks for watching!
If only I had seen this sooner. I accidentally bought the felt tips thinking they were brush tips. Drat.
Greer Deneen me too!
same
Same here
I'm so happy you made this video and I saw it. I was so close to purchasing the non-brush pens on accident! Thanks!

Courtney Scozzari thank you so much for watching!!
how do the pentel brush pens compare to the tombow fudenosuke hard/soft tip pens?
The Pentel became my favorite instead of Tombow soft tip after using them!

No better comparison in the world, between these two great products. Thanks again.

I got the brush pens ( 24 colors set ), and they are AMAZING.
I love these pens also. The trick to the tombow pen is slower strokes, which may not be your thing, but that’s the trick to avoid the streaking. Great video. :)
Thank you & thanks for watching!
So the shimmer body one is the correct pen?
yes!
yes with grey color at the bottom
My pen has a shimmery barrel but black bottom🤷🏻♀️
I think the change in names is because some are pentel usa and some are the pentel from japan ?
Yes, mine is from japan and the name is Pentel Fude Touch Brush Pen
I just ordered both because they're so cheap, it's awesome. The felt tip ones were $10 for a 12 pack :D
@@grey7161 I got them from Amazon, not sure if the price has gone up since then ;-;
omg! i saved me...i actually watched this video with the wrong set on my cart in amazon!! going back and changing it!!!
Aww yay! I'm glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for such a great explanation of the differences. Very helpful.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Very helpful for us newbies to hand lettering-thanks!
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching!
Thank you SO helpful , I could'nt figure it out☺️ Well done, and such a shooting voice you have!! Wow
I was getting soooo confused then I found your video ❤ That helps a lot thank you so muchhhh
I'm so glad it helped!

Kanji rather.
Ah so interesting! Thanks for sharing & watching!

Is these to same like pentel fude touch? Or different pen?
I'm really glad I bought mine in a store where I could try it first😅

Can you dip these into an india ink and do gradient lettering? Can you with Tombows?
Thanks for the video! It helped a lot! Now I know which ones to get. Just bought them!!
Why are they so expensive in the UK? Is that because they aren't properly out yet?
Very informative! Thanks so much
And even *AFTER* watching your video right before going into the store, I purchased the wrong one... grrrr 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Lol 😂😂😂
i was just about to buy a pack today... wow i am lucky to find this in time...
Oh good! I hope you love them! And thanks for watching!

GRACIAS, me ayudo a distinguir la diferencia muy bien!!!
A quick question to people who use it in drawing. Does it smudge if you use copic or promarkers?
in my personal use then no
cuz I let the lineart dry for a bit before I apply the markers on
you should test it just in case
@@balavalbala540 thank you very much
Wow amazing wish I knew calligraphy
Just bought a touch looked this vid up after would b nice if they had more colours where i found mine got the black 1 to test liking it :)

i have to say that they are the best for beginners to start with ~
i bought a few touch pen yesterday cause i got a $200 gift certificate from a friend years ago :)
I found this touch pen in fnac and I didn't know them, I tried and I loved it! I'm happy to find your video about them and that you like them as well. 😊
Aw thank you! They are one of my absolute favorites! Thanks for watching!
Hi I love your videos oh my fudenoskes also try out as well

Brush has grey bottom, hard tip has beige bottom.
Amazing video keep it up gurl u rock
Lol for Christmas I got the markers lol, I still like the tho.
So I accidentally ordered the pentel sign instead of the pentel touch and I want to cry.
Ah! Well - I really do like the pentel sign pen, too!! Maybe you can use it for faux-calligraphy?
@@HowtoHandLetter you probably wont reply but on walmart it says brush tip but not touch. Is that still the correct one?
thanks for the video! :)
Have you found either of these pens to bleed through your paper?
I haven't! They do ghost a bit on my thinner paper (like my bullet journal) where you can see them from the other side, but I don't have an issue with them actually bleeding through the paper. Ohh thanks for sharing! This one is new to me! I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for watching.
The squeaky scraping sound of the sign pens gave me such a headache. I rlly like both a lot though!
Ha! Sorry! Some people love it and some people hate it (I honestly never noticed until people started mentioning it!). Thanks for watching!
You saved my money....
Damn. I just discovered the difference the hard way.
this misake totally happened to me haha
I JUST bought the wrong ones 😩
I wish I saw this video before I wasted my money on the wrong pens...
Which pen is better? I'm from Brazil and I do not speak English
Pentel brush sign pen
Are the touch/brush pens waterproof?
I believe they are waterbased & they are bendable, so I would say not! Sorry!
Omg? I thought these two were the same thing
Omg I had the wrong pens!
I bought the wrong one 🙈
I saw this video to late...I bought the wrong ones.

Right? I gave up on Tombow. I thought it was just me!
