  • This Video demonstrates how to adjust the belts on the x and y axis rails on a Chinese Co2 Laser machine. To help with eliminating backlash / off set at the start and finish locations of laser cut shapes.
    I produce these videos to help you and others with their Co2 Laser machines. If you know of someone who this video may help please share it with them.

    I know this original post was a while ago, but I had the same issue with lasering a circle. I tighten the belts and squared the gantry. Worked just as you explained. Now I'm moving on to calibrating the stepper motors for the x and y axis. Thanks for the video.

    this is the first video that actually gives clear instructions on how to adjust tension on belts. which is very useful if you ever have the unfortunate need to replace your belts.

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I have not needed to replace the belts, I have spare in case of breaking. For the 80W it is a 10mm wide belt and for my larger machine 15mm Belt - You can purchase by the metre. Cheers Matt

    Hi Matt. Great video. I always learn a lot from watching you explain things. Recently I have some trouble with my Y axis not moving past 768 mm on my machine. Is that anything to do with the machine itself or more of a software issue? I also just recently switched back from doing tumblers. Thanks!

    Hi Matt, I recently made a mistake by running my Lazer head into an object I had in my bed and it hit it pretty hard. The laser head is okay as far as I know but now it won't engrave where it needs to according to my subject matter X and Y coordinates in lightburn. For example if I have a 10 x 10 piece of wood in the center of my machine, and make sure it's there in lightburn and I hit run and it only jogs out about 6 in and tries to engrave completely in the wrong spot. Is this a late burn issue or perhaps a mechanical? Any ideas would be very helpful, the machine has been down for 3 days now.

      General maintenance required, regularly Clean axis rails, use machine oil on unsealed bearings if your machine has these.

    Hi, very usefull video. Thanks alot for the info. Maybe you can help with my problem. I have a repeating missalignmnet on the X-Axis. I have tighten the belts and bolts and also aligned the steps via software (Vendor Settings). But from time to time I'm getting a deviation of around 2mm on a 300mm line. If ran the alignment procedure again, it will fix it but after a day or two it will run out of alignment again. Do you have an idea? thanks.

    Hi Matt.
    I wish you will see this comment as i am really in trouble, I tried a lot but all in vain.
    In my both Chinese machines 100 and 150 w. (Some times) while engraving, all of a sudden the laser head jumps to few millimeter further ( X or Y), continuing from this now spot and destroys all my job. As far as i know you are the best for this i am sure you can help me.
    (This issue happens only in top- middle part of the bed)
    Both machins are almost new, no loosen parts and good belts...

    • @arivald6677
      @arivald6677 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something is moving that shouldn't be moving. It could be belts tenstion it could be screws on laser head. Given that machine is new I would also make sure your groundwork is properly flat and that material itself is not moving.

    Great instruction for the Y axis belts but you didn't cover the X axis belt (where the head is connected). The title of this video says X & Y belts

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the method is the same for each axis on this machine, the only difference is on the x axis the laser head bracket is integrated into the belt tensioning carriage.

      Hi Matt thank you for the alignment video very helpfull and I am about to attempt this exact fix.
      however I am worried that if I move the Y axis to get both axis back to square doesnt that mean I will have to re-align the mirror on the head of the laser?
      I'm not confident on mirror alignment and don't want the laser out of service.
