I usually use 8mm beads, and depending on the desired stiffness for the bag, I choose fishing line between 0.4mm and 0.6mm. The thicker the line, the sturdier and more structured the bag will be.

How do you know how much wire to use, and how did you finish the string off?

With experience, you get a sense of how much fishing line you'll need. For beginners, I recommend not using a line that's too long, as it can be difficult to work with. If your line runs out, I've covered what to do in one of my videos (link in the description below). It's a helpful video for beginners!
